Just one clarification on the flight hours. As mentioned, the, the PCSM score is supersized by flight hours. Maximum was 201 hours so if you had 201 or a 1000 hrs, it made no difference. Since flight hours are expensive, some people felt that those with money had an advantage over those who didn't. They recently, maybe a year ago or so, lowered the max number of hours to 60. If you have 61 or above, it makes no difference. What it also did is make the AFOQT score and the TBAS score have extra weigh in calculating the PCSM score. Also, when they calculate the PCSM score, they only use the Pilot score from the AFOQT test. Still have to do well on the AFOQT, but for a pilot spot, all they are concerned is the pilot portion of the test. Based on the old 201 hour rules, your top score without any hours was around mid 70s. With a 201 hours, it would bring you up to 98/99 with top score being 99. From what i have read, with the new rules, the high score without flight hours is higher. Just to let you know, under the old rules, the average PCSM score for pilots selected was high 60s. If you want to go to ENNJPT, you are going to need somewhere in the high 90s.

I'm really only going to school just to become a U.S. Air Force pilot, I have a long way to go and need to work on my physical health as well. I'm EXTREMLY determined to become a pilot and nothing will change my mind!
@@nacl2858Hey! There's a way to pick the aircraft before going to pilot training. If you apply to OTS through national guard or reserve you can apply for specific unit which means you'll know which aircraft you'll fly before even going to pilot training! Each unit has different aircrafts so I recommend to take a look at it.
Where is your acquisition video? I was a 62X engineer for 21 years. It was a great experience! In addition to the years if program management of billion-dollar programs, I got to do hands-on R&D, intelligence, flight line maintenance, hundreds of back seat flights, and write mission plans with the navigators. No other career field has near the breadth of possibilities. You can go anywhere, do just about anything.
I know you posted this a year ago, but I am a senior in high school and my plan is to do AFROTC in college, become a 62X engineer, and then work for Lockheed Martin as an engineer. Could you go into a little more depth about what you did in the AF, where you were stationed, and what your day to day life looked like? Thanks so much!

I graduate college next year. I have and always have had good grades. I want to be a pilot but only realized this about 6 months ago otherwise I obviously would have done rotc or something like that. If I have no pilot experience at all do I have a shot or should I go for something else and maybe cross train in the future? I’m a hard worker and very determined

if your goal is to fly helicopters, you should join the Army. the Air Force has only 213 helicopters compared to the Army’s 3372. even if you do fly helicopters for the Air Force you’ll be trained by the Army at Fort Rucker (now Fort Novosel). the path is the same as all Air Force pilots. earn a commission as a rated officer and attend UPT where you’ll get selected for a particular airframe. if you’re the best, you might get to choose to fly helicopters.
I took the AFOQT this past Friday. I’ve been told the exam is graded on how we stand amongst our fellow examinees. Well their was one other guy and he said he didn’t study at all. Surely we are graded on historical data not just that particular day because I feel like I would have smoked the other examinee as I studied for five months. Any thoughts?
Everyone has to take the AFOQT to become an officer but the test is a percentile rank (Rack and Stack) of everyone who took that test on that testing date all over the U.S. If you studied then there should be no doubt that you should come out with better scores than those that did not, especially if you are working towards pilot.

you must achieve a passing score in the Verbal and Quantitative sections to become an officer. period. there is no minimum score for the other sections. the better you do there, the more competitive you’ll be when you meet the rated board.

yes I am sure you would be just fine. I also did not care about high school and graduated with like a 2.5 gpa because I knew I was going into the military right after graduation. Almost 7 years later, I have my bachelors degree graduating with a 3.9 GPA in Space Studies. Im currently transitioning out of the Marine Corps and going into the AF reserve to pick my flight platform and duty station. Looking to fly F-22s or at least some fighter. I just took the AFOQT this past weekend and felt pretty good about my performance. Moral of the story: it’s not too late man. Go out there and start grinding. Find a way, you may have to enlist into one of the branches for college though
Does Air Force allow cadets with Lasik eye surgery? Because I have excessive astigmatism with more than 3.00. I have read some articles and watched some yt video they say Lasik eye surgery could be a disqualifying factor?

if you're medically qualified and interested in flying, go for it. get in touch with a recruiter and make it happen.
