How Ritchie is not considered the greatest all around guitarist in the World is Beyond me. He is brilliant also Acoustically. No one has the body of work Ritchie has done. In all that work he has never repeated anything. He has the best tone ever and when he feels like it possibly with Hendrix the best performer ever to be on stage period.
Thank you Ritchie for all your music done since 1968 . I was 7 y old when I heard your Guitar for the first time . Now I m 63 y young :))) I can’t get enough of your specific guitar sound and technique
You nailed it.He doesn't just do scales up and down the neck.He searches for different notes every night. He was at the peak of his technical abilities in this video. I preferred his tone and some of his playing in the 70's,but there is no doubt that technically he is better here.Pretty great!
agreed. very like Buddy Guy in he knows how to play it loud then soft, play it fast then slow, knows how to trade off with other players, ie Jon Lord. He also one of the few (like Jeff Beck) who can start a solo, go off on a ten-minute tangent, then at the end bring it right back to where he left it and finish the piece. And I like how he just kind of floats his hand behind the neck delicately "tapping" the notes he wants to play that's kind artful to watch! Truly the most amazing and entertaining guitar player we shall ever witness.
Blackmoore just has something special, magical, ethereal, sorcery, to his sound. It's just otherworldly. He's by far the most recognisable axe legend, and probably the best slide player ever too.
Hundreds of Americans watched and listened to Ritchie Blackmore and thought: 'wouldn't it be great to have all those diddly-diddly fast finger runs all through every song for 4 hours'. No, it wouldn't. Ritchie knew that you can have too much of a good thing.
Last time I saw Ritchie play was ‘84 Perfect Strangers Tour. He was in a good mood that night, and it showed. His level of improvisation is levels above most, and he left the audience hanging on every note. Incredible.

I've always been a Ritchie Blackmore fan, since I got the Deep Purple in Rock album for my 11th birthday in 1970 ! I remember the Deep Purple (when Hef introduced them) at the Playboy mansion ."Purple till I die" . Lol 🌌
I watched him break a finger Interrot concert deep purple in the late 80s he smashed his Stratocaster broke his finger and he picked up another guitar and played the whole concert and never missed a beat and they even wrote about it in the newspaper the next day Phoenix Arizona
I completely agree with this statement because Blackmore is the rare addition of technicality to musicality, which most guitarists have rarely combined ! ..
He is a gifted musician, quite brilliant technically but damaged by a father who never praised him as a child. When Purple played Jon's Concerto in 1969, Ritchie didn't want to do it, but he played the best parts by far, and when you consider that his demanding father was in the Albert Hall that night, it perhaps explains why this highly sensitive man played his best. He didn't do it for Jon, he was playing to his father.
