It's amazing how much space Ritchie had in the band. That moment when he's ripping it solo and and everybody is silent and just watching him. There's a huge chemistry between all of them, but take a look at the connection between him and Jon Lord. Their solo parts, the moment when Jon Lord says something to him on the ear. One of my favourite live footage of DP. Only joy of playing together. No fuss, no drama queens, just music.
One of my, if not THE favourite vid of DP, for all the reasons you mentioned. I just never tire of watching this one. Paice has been my fav drummer since '72, when I was 12. He makes the transitions look easy and improvised as they were, they were not. Would love to see more cuts from this Paris gig!
1970 - I would have been 1 year old !!! I wonder what Jon was saying to Ritchie at 1 min 50 sec.Two instrumental masters and co - founders of the mighty Deep Purple .I think Ritchie loved Jon very much. RIP Jon Lord
Shortly before this Purple opened for Eric Claptons Cream on farewell tour and got kicked off the tour. Clapton couldn’t follow Blackmore playing and said that RB disrespected the blues lol.
Ashutosh Thapa knowing RB he said it. They never got along. When in Rainbow Clapton was staying in the same hotel as Blackmore and RB decided to crank his guitar amp annoying Clapton. Shortly after Ritchie got a visit from Claptons security guys.
The only existing full lenght wring that neck vs no footage cut out, showing the deep purple mark 2 as the where.... raw loud and very good. Playing the mule vs tonecontrol, some child in time parts, then jingle bells ect. Blackmore vs very well into hendrix and vanilla fudge. His guitar playing always show that some had and still can learn, no guitar player did tapping and control it like he does, so wild and good.... best living legend.
They were all great these musicians, they were all good and perfect. You can't judge who was better anyway. When it comes to organ, Jon Lord has always been my all-time favorite.
@@0hhtecMusicianTheNotecianHero Even master do make mistakes sometimes. In the other version of this video Ritchie wasn't looking at the guitar and landed on the wrong fret. The notes are wrong but the phasing is correct though
An embarrassment of riches! All 5 members were top 5 at their respective instruments (voice included). Too bad Ritchie and Ian were so charismatic. There was only room for one!
@Aurens this piece is one of the first Deep Purple's songs which were recorded with band members set Mark-I. It is quite unpopular, but i find it pretty interesting in contrast with modern themes and others DP's songs.
This song starts out great, but then turns into a total calamity--a train wreck! Roger G, Jon L, and Ian P cannot stand the spot light being on Ritchie, so they sabotage the rest of the song. They want to make as much noise as they can to drown Ritchie out, as always, but it is more obvious here. This is more like arguing, non verbally.

Yep! Until Uli Roth and EVH hit the stage, he was untouchable I'd say!
