- Neil Lennon says Celtic returned from their winter training camp in Dubai to a “barrage of absolute hypocrisy”.
The Parkhead boss says the club has received unfair criticism of its decision to fly to the Middle East for warm weather training.
He said: “We didn’t abuse any ‘privilege’, we did the right things, we were totally professional.
“We had a little drink in the afternoon on the day of, completely allowed, no law breaking.
“But we come back to this barrage of absolute hypocrisy.”
Celtic players and staff flew out to Dubai following their 1-0 defeat to Rangers on January 2 and spent a week training in the United Arab Emirates.
Lennon, his assistant John Kennedy and 13 players all had to self-isolate after Christopher Jullien tested positive for coronavirus upon returning home.
Chief executive Peter Lawwell has since admitted the trip was “a mistake” and apologised to Hoops fans.

Lost the plot Neil, the trip was the wrong decision at this time and they know it, still went and came back and smashed any hope we had fir the league. For a club that are getting bullied, it's a miracle that yous got handed the title and despite all other competitions being cancelled and the competition you were in a final of against a team in a lower division, mysteriously continued. Also the fact other clubs got points deducted for sitting in the wrong seats on a bus but when your players go to Spain because they fell like it or 60 people head to dubai because you want a pint, nothing happens. The hypocrisy in calling others bullies when u and the sfa bullied clubs into voting u to be champions

He really has to grow up at some point and stop playing the victim card. Anyone with half a brain would have cancelled that Dubai trip, particularly after the initial outcry when it was announced. It's just such a tone-deaf action. Everyone in the country has had to deal with restrictions limiting where they can go locally let alone on holiday, and yet Lennon and co think a mid-season break to Dubai is somehow a good idea? That's before the kick in the teeth to the fans with how poor the team have been largely all season. I'm sure they're all glad the guys got to go a frivolous trip abroad, who cares about the year-on-year decline in performances at home and abroad. Gotta keep those under-performing players happy!
