- In this video I'm going to showcase all 24 unused achievements in The Binding of Isaac Repentance. Some of these were never finished, while some were cut from Antibirth. It's quite possible that some may make it in Repentance one day!

Post-upload notes:
1) It turns out there's another achievement stored in the main folder that was left unused, for an item called "Keeper's Rope". The popup for it can be seen here - i.imgur.com/7zRbrm1.png
transcendence already exists, maybe that’s why it went unused
@@Mooshi_Mooshi im guessing it was probably something related to the strawman item, probably a floating hanging keeper instead of a grounded keeper.

Hey, I have a take on divide and conquer. I think it could have been based on what you said, but red locusts could have also worked, with abyss being a pocket active. you'd start with some red locusts as well, with my take on it.
edit: pawn baby could have had an effect similar to the bishop enemies.
I think this wouldn't be a new item but just an alter to the transendance unlock itself since keepers are associated with Isaac's dad and the hanging keepers are of course an implication of something that may have happened after he left as it is normal for friends and family to be informed of such event's.
That and how in the game flight is associated with moving from the moral world and isaac hearing his dad in beast ending since isaac's soul still lingers on earth post death as implied by death certificate and isaac's tomb.
Though of course isaac imagines what will happen after he dies as he likely doesn't literally linger as he thinks he will since the game is more or less a psa to tell people to be caring for one another in life because we don't know what happens after death.
It should be mentioned that "Blank Bombs" were likely a reference to _Enter the Gungeon,_ where "Blanks" were used in place of bombs and cleared enemy bullets.

That "You unlocked Edith" would've been on of my fav things to see in repentance
same but that psy fly should be locked away as we cant have both robo fly and psy fly for free at the same time

Beth's heart was going to allow other characters to use Beth's soul heart mechanic
Like a dark bum for soul hearts instead of red hearts and instead of random drops after random number of hearts, every 6 hearts it does something specific.

By the charge bars connected to it and the 6 levels of animation i'm pretty sure you're right. You would be able to spend soul hearts as charge

As for the Lot Baby, that probably had something to do with Edith too, as Lot was Edith's husband in the bible.
Probably her "get all marks on hard mode" unlock, since those are all co-op babies.

@@mr.cobbweb1624 It's probably because getting all hard achievements on the lost is really hard to do, especially in repentance, so a co op baby wouldnt be fair. Anyways, godhead got nerfed to were sacred heart is actually better
@@soyzsoy just to follow up on the statement of sacred heart being bettter than godhead now that it got nerfed I want to note that previously godhead could often end up being worse due to shot speed being so high that the aura didnt do much before the tear passed or hit the enemy.
Overall godhead did tend to be better though so I agree, also with the new buffs to homing tears being more aggressive tracking down enemies sacred heart also gets better while godhead sorta ends up semi nerfed some more, allthough in all honestly it is still a run winning item majority of the time.
Currently I'd say godhead is about one boss item's dps up away from being on par with sacred heart, Id say the halo+ blue cap+godhead is pretty much same in strength to just halo+sacred heart is what I mean.
Heads up: Rune of Fehu, when turning pickups into coins, turns them into their shop price worth of coins (red hearts -> 3 coins, soul hearts -> 5 coins, etc.) It would also turn items into 15 coins. Essentially, it would "sell" anything you used it on. It's also the only rune to have been ported to Repentance proper, except now instead of a rune it's the reversed Hermit card.
I've got a feeling a lot of the runes were reworked into the reverse arcana.

I think pawn baby is an edith unlock, it would probably move like edith.
I think Pawn Baby would have the wiz because pawns can only attack on diagonals

For divide and conquer I can’t really see the hemopytitis in it because if your are talking about the spread of “bullets” those are conquests horses when he does his multiple dash attack

Edmund recently stated on stream with emphasis that 661 is the actual number of the beast, not 666
What is seen on the icon of the Dead God achievement?
The skull of none other than the final boss itself...the beast.

And illusion hearts probably. But since those don't exist the challenge wouldn't be "finished". That's my theory at least.

I think it could have also used either the Locust set of items based on the art; or a Tinytoma effect on all your familiars (hence the divide and conquer name) or possibly a variant of Meat Cleaver that affected friendly characters instead of enemies.

I’m not sure if someone already made this theory or if it’s been proven by the community to do this, but I believe that (based on what you said, the translation being related to angels and the description of “treasure”) that the rune would change all chests in the current room into eternal chests.
or could possibly act like the Justice? card, iirc that one spawns tons of golden chests in a room. My guess though that Ingwaz is reworked into Justice? card

Jacob and Easu's "Illusion baby" unlock makes alot more sense with Illusion heart.

Maybe divide and conquer involved literally dividing the enemies with Meat Cleaver or something?
Or possibly a Cleaver variant where you divide yourself and your familiars for more coverage at the cost of less health and damage?

I think Divide and Conquer would instead be White Pony, 5 Lil' Harbingers and you're blindfolded like Conquest. Thatd be a nice, cute challenge actually
Even though it’s a very hopeful thought due to Edmund basically turning the soul of Edith into Tainted Forgotten it would be neat to see these unused unlocks be turned into Edith’s postet unlocks if for some reason one day she becomes the beyond secret character that seems to show up in every major Isaac update.
Imagine if edmund hated us (even more than he does) and makes us get dead god in the three save files, then wipe them all and get 3 dead gods again just for edith
@@Lexxxxiii edith wasn't really that fun tbh :/. I played one of the initial builds in 2015-ish? and each one was kind of a slog. the reworked character is WAY better.
1. beths heart would probably charge your active item from picking up soul hearts
2. pawn baby would probably just act like a friendly bishop enemy in familiar/co-op baby form

The co-op babies are definitely all Edith's. You unlock one for clearing mom's heart on hard mode, one for clearing mega Satan on hard mode, and then one for getting all completion marks in normal and all marks in hard.
They even follow the trend of 1 having little to do with the character (BFF baby) and then 3 that are very obviously about the character (Lot is Edith's father, salt being her mechanic, and the pawn mimicking her movement limitation).
With the exception of Beth's heart, I would also guess most of the item unlocks would also be associated with Edith's various completion marks.
Interesting stuff.
The interesting part about edith also is, she has a locked tainted door in the files as well
Meaning they probably were so close to omplementing her, to plan a tainted version...only to scrap her anyway
Iirc T. Forgotten is basically what Edith was turned into. They even share a similar look.
How her Tainted look like?
@@monte8901 It's just the door that shows up when the character isn't unlocked so we don't know what they would actually look like but the door had a salt shaker pouring salt on the ground inside

The things i miss the most from antibirth are the mausoleum second part of the floor, the big witness room and the runes :(
2nd part of mausoleum was my favorite part of it.
I can't understand the people who miss the witness big room. The fight is SOO much better in Rep, and thats something Kil personally believes too
@@enigmafiresup4658 Exactly. The only reason I could speculate why people want a 2x2 room is because Mother is an end game boss, but that's about it.
@@enigmafiresup4658 i played antibirth few days ago and can somewhat aggre it is insane bullet spam.
But i find antibirth version more fun to fight because it is just more satisfying when you manage to dodge all of those tiny bullets.
Also corpse in antibirth is way way better than in repentance. They got rid of so many cool enemies from there and replaced them with more powerfull existing enemies.
@@enigmafiresup4658 Imma be honest i don't remember the original fight lol it's been a long time. I don't miss the fight itself just the big room (and the chests before the fight) bc it was really cool, it really made you feel like you were tiny and helpless against the big bad final boss and i miss that. It was scary going in for the first time and seeing that bc you don't expect it (kinda like the chase sequence in rep now).
there's one cool mod available for repentance that adds Edith and she's really well made there, she's crazy hard to play, but it's still cool that someone didn't give up on her
The mod author (lambchop_is_ok) is actually working on an altered Edith with a tainted variant that acts like a grudge.

Psy Fly was supposed to be unlocked in Antibirth by completing Isaac's Awakening but it was bugged and it didn't give the unlock. Now in Repentance, that challenge unlocks the Spirit Sword which was unlocked by default in Antibirth.
a bit of context for Edith:
Lot's wife, known in certain translations as Ado or Edith, was a biblical character who was turned into a "pillar of salt," as she disobeyed God's will and watched the destruction of Sodom.
The salt theme is due to Edith being turned into a pillar of salt, Lot Baby would likely be a familiar who had a unique effect if picked up by Edith, and the Apple of Sodom likely references the city becoming overrun by sin, thus forcing God to destroy it in fire and brimstone. The fear effect from the salt could possibly be fear of following Edith down her path and being turned to salt.
Here are some guesses as to if Edith ends up in the game:
Edith's Birthright will have something to do with her movement. Maybe she can lightly move like with Chariot?.
Tainted Edith will have something to do with Brimstone. Sodom was destroyed in a blaze of fire and brimstone. Maybe she ditches the salt related effects for Sulphur in her consumable slot.

Edith was never planned for Repentance, Kilburn's stated that in the Discord a lot. It's only a leftover from Antibirth.
Ok so I found out from Kilburn that divide and conquer had you start with book of Illusions and unused book that gave you an illusion heart hence divine and conquer and you also started with Mars (not just white pony)

Edmund said on Twitter that the team didn't want to add Edith, and the idea eventually became Tainted Forgotten.

Tainted Forgotten is what Edith became, pretty sure it was confirmed somewhere.

It was confirmed by edmund himself on a stream he did pretty recently
It’s crazy for me to see Edith actually having an unlock achievement paper. Cause at some point during Repentance’s development, Edith WAS actually considered to be an actual character for Repentance before going straight back to being scraped.
However, there is an Edith mod in the works that plans to rework/rebalanced Edith and give her her own unlocks and even a Tainted Version. The same creator also made a classic Edith mod which is an almost carbon copy of Edith from Antibirth in the meantime.
What's even crazier is Edith having a locked tainted version icon for the character selection screen.
@@IsaacGuru Yeah, crazy. That and the fact there are items considered to be Edith’s unlocks, it really makes you wonder how far the Repentance devs were into brining back Edith before eventually scraping it all again.
And yeah, Tainted Forgotten is a rebalanced version of the character but it isn’t the same. Glad Edith “sort of” made it in the end though.

So it was probably unlocked by beating it lives on hard mode as Edith
Lot baby was probably edith's mom's heart unlock because in the bible Edith was Lot's wife until god pulled a sick gamer move and turned into a pillar of salt

I really hope the Nightwatch enemy gets added, they could add a lot of interesting rooms to the game, like you can't be seen by them or they spawn enemies for the room, really cool ideas could be done with those enemies
maybe rune of ingwaz with desc "treasure" was supposed to delete treasure room on the floor but giving higher chance for angel room on the floor, i think its a good concept

My guess was that it would actually take you to an angel room, and you'd be allowed to take from it. Kind of like how the Joker works, except this always gives you an angel room, and would overwrite the devil room if it has not been spawned yet.
What if when you use it...it would change the tresure room into an angel room that you need to pay 1-2 soul-red hearts

When you used it it would convert the devil deal chance into angel deal chance and the angel deal chance couldnt go down
I hope that we still get updates in Repentance to include some of these :D
I hope they bring the Antibirth runes back someday. I miss all of the cut Antibirth content, but those in particular were fun.
Hold up, I've never seen the Evil Eye item yet, altough I haven't stopped playing since Repentance's launch.
If you mean Evil Charm, it's probably because it spawns only in the secret room which is rare by itself.
Imagen blank-bomb with Doc. Fetus... you can make hush a sad boss there by nullifying his tears.
Ocular rift and nearly any damage/tears/luck up already does that. Poor hush got power creeped hard.
We are talking about the same Syncer (the one in the photo of the forgotten that makes Review of all the items of all the isaacs and mods)

I really don't get why everyone is so crazy about Edith... Would you REALLY play a character that can only move by teleporting? Because I know she'd drive me mad more so than Jacob & Esau.
Because it's a new character. It's a cool gimmick.
And also, if Jacob & Esau drives you up the wall more than Tainted Lazarus does, you're either really bad or you're really good. I don't actually know how to think about that one.
@@NerdTheDemon I don't like content for the sake of content. Feature-creep is definitely a thing, and while it keeps the people playing... I'm not really into "forcing" myself to play. Hence why I still haven't unlocked everything for both versions of Lost... Sure it caters to a certain crowd, but I really don't like that gimmick, as you put it.
I can tell that Edith will be just as frustrating, even more so with Repentance being harder than previous versions. You actually need to dodge much more this time around. Can you imagine Delirium, Mother or The Beast as Edith? I already shivers at the thought of beating them as T.Forgotten without recall.
And worry not, I hate T.Lazarus just as much. More so even. I feel like I'm slowly getting the hang of J&E. But still... Having two hitboxes and two health bars to take care of is tense.

Considering we very recently finally got an unused boss in the game, I feel like there's a good chance we'll see some unused enemies come back too
The illusion hearts one of the best concepts I've ever heard of
Corrections and observations that I am making:
-Divide and conquer probably used the White Pony wisps, or tiny horsemen somehow, not Hemoptysis
-Lot was edith's husband, so was probably Edith's Hard mode Mom's Heart coop unlock and might not do anything special.
-Duplex baby might have been some early Jacob and Esau coop baby? Idk
-Illusion heart is cool and I'm sad that its gone :(
-Pawn baby was most likely another special coop baby that had Edith's movement, because pawns would hop up and down like edith does

Blank Bombs is a reference from "Enter the Gungeon" where you use blanks to remove all enemy projectiles from the screen.

In the rare chance we do get Edith and she functions more or less the same as Antibirth, imagine a 4 player co-op run of Ediths.
I really hope we get the runes, albeit with a change to Fehu so it isn't just Ace Of Diamonds. The co-op babies can stay on the cutting room floor for all I care though.

The psy fly actually had its own unlock method in antibirth, and it was by completing the "isaac's awakening" challenge, but it was bugged and the challenge couldn't be completed in any way. Fortunately, it's free in repentance and it's way more op than I thought
I think people want Edith as character just because she wasn't added, but if she was in Repentance, they would hate her guts and say "How can you play as character that can't properly move in a game that's all about dodging?". Just like there would be a huge rebuke if they didn't add Jacob & Esau, without acknowledgment of how it's really tough and sometimes not fun to play as them. I mean I am glad they are in game but I also notice frequently quite strong hate on them from certain part of the BoI community.
Blank Bombs might also be a reference to Enter the Gungeon and their mechanics are also very similar.

That "Turn items into coins" rune did basically make it into the game as "The Hermit?"
@Siper Not exactly. Ace of Diamonds converts 1 pickup to 1 coin. The rune 'sells' the item for it's worth in coins, 3 for a heart, 5 for a key, 15 for an item, so on.

Pawn Baby can either do with chess, the horse items(horse being a chess piece) or the shop(like a pawnbroker, maybe it made one more item be on sale as it "negotiates").
For the runes, I had pickup Description ideas 😂

Ingwaz (I reworked its description): A heavenly gift.
Kenaz: Toxicological Repertoire.
Othala: One gift, of random owned.
Sowilo: May your life be offered to you.

I hope they one day readd Edith as a playable character with other cut content as her unlocks, but I doubt this will ever happen 😢
I helped create the original concept for Edith (uncredited) and it was cut because it wasn’t fun. Still a cool concept in theory.
It would be neat if there was another ARG, but related to Edith. It’s highly unlikely due to what’s going on and Requiem currently being made, but it would be cool if the unused character could finally be in the game instead of being a Easter egg with the Chariot? Card

Fehu and Kenaz became Reverse Hermit and Strength, respectively. Gebo and Othala were too broken in some cases. Sowilo may have become Reverse Empress.
Ingwaz, to me, seems like an extra Angel room. As such, it probably got reworked into Reverse Moon.
TragedyplusTime I mean, there are plenty of items in the game that have similar functions/ weaker or stronger versions of an item, an example of the top of my head being that the soul of Judas is just a one use dark arts, whose to say that the runes can't be added?
@@nolanhock8888 You're comparing two identical consumables to a soul stone being a one use active, which is what they're meant to be. Most Soul Stones exist to act like the character's active/passive abilities but one use, to allow you to keep your active and get their benefits (Only exceptions are Soul of The Keeper, Soul of The Forgotten, Soul of J&E and Soul of Apollyon).
Blank bombs are likely a reference to enter the gungeon. In that game, blanks are basically a get out of jail free card. They create a room wide blast that destroies all bullets, pushes enemies back, and does a small amount of damage. They are also the only way to open hidden walls in that game.

The devs should've made edith a character with tower defense mechanics which involves edith (as a spirit) spending an amount of "her" own unique pickup to place familiars, turrets, blocks, etc to defend "her" salt body.

Lot was Edith's husband, when they escaped the city of sadom and amora before God destroyed it.
Edith looked back on the way out so God turned her into a pillar of salt for gazing at his true form.

Ghost babel challenge actually looks pretty interesting, since it seems like it would've needed custom rooms in each floor that the nightwatches would be in. But a special stealth-based run would be a really fun idea.
the rune of ingwaz might have been a rune that rerolled any items into angel room items

Those runes are awesome! With blank card getting the nerf I can't see why they didn't add these runes to the game. It's not like they are over powered.

The term blank for the blank bombs is most likely a reference to enter the gungeon as "Blanks" are a crucial item to remove bullets in that game.
I think Beth's Heart would be kind of like a mix between Book of Virtues, Isaac's Heart and one of the sack items. My guess is that it would spawn a wisp every 4 rooms, and wisps are now immune to damage unless Beth's Heart is damaged, like Isaac's Heart for Wisps
i have an idea: maybe instead Edmund will nerf psy fly in the future , he could change it so only if you get all completion marks in hard mode with all tainted characters, you will get Psy fly and his achievement, just like mega mush with all the non-tainted characters.
they could just make it a tlost unlock
