    I ordered one of these after reading this review. It only took eight days to get from China to the San Francisco peninsula. The ukulele is absolutely beautiful and in great condition. I like the decoration on the neck and the gloss finish is perfect. It tuned right up and sounds great. The case is better than cases I have gotten with much more expensive ukuleles. I am super pleased with this ukulele- it is amazing for the price. Thank you again for a great review!

    OMG YESSS!! i have been dying to see a review of this one because i've been keeping tabs on it for a while to see if it would be a good idea to get it as an upgrade uke from the ones i currently have. I think i am definitely convinced after this, thanks, Mr. Barry! And thank you for a year of fun and honest uke reviews!

    I watch lots of ukulele channels, including yours, and this video is one of my favorites! In fact, your comments and insights led me to purchase this Enya with the black finish (not a color I would have considered in the past). I agree with your 'not my cup of tea' comment on the fingerboard art, but it somehow works with the black mahogany body versus the natural mahogany body. As for the headstock, you comments about access to lower frets and being smaller and more subdued than Fender's Montecito massive headstock rings true. I also believe the pull through string attachment is responsible for the bright sound and volume usually found in koa and mango instruments. Lastly, the gig bag is awesome! The best I have ever seen! Considering the delicate, all wood body of the Enya, a maximum protection is required while traveling and this bag is far exceeds what one would expect with a factory produced instrument. Thanks Barry for great reviews! I'm subscribed and now support $$$ you!

    i like Richlite. Hard and much less vulnerable to shrinkage so the fret ends will always be comfortable . . . and it"s nice to save trees as you said, especially when the material is just as good if not better. Nice ukulele at an amazingly affordable price. Thanks as always for the review, Barry. May you and yours be safe, healthy, happy and live with ease in the new year.

    Great to see this model reviewed. I LOVE the quality of my round Enya HPL soprano (the neck is beautiful), and wondered how their solid wood models shaped up. Like yourself, I’m not a fan of bling...but on a strikingly styled uke like this, I actually don’t mind it.
    Thanks so much for another great year of reviews 👏 Grace and peace for 2019.

    This one's my ukulele-goal, waiting on the wish list since many months. I like how unique the design is, and it's solid wood and good quality on top. They have one with a pick-up too I think. Therefor I think the higher price will be worth the upgrade for me. Nice to see that you also gave it a good rating.

    Barry, you mentioned that you really liked this ukulele but the inlay wasn't 'your cup of tea'. I agree. While it is really pretty, it doesn't have markers on the fretboard. That is important to me because I am new to ukuleles. I went to Enya's website to see what they offered. I found the EUC-MG6 -- Concert
    solid Mango. It is very similar to the M6 but the fret board has a bit more modest inlay. I just got it yesterday and it is gorgeous and sounds great as well. I purchased through Amazon and it is about $100 more than the M6 models. Thank you for the excellent reviews and all the work you do to keep us informed. You are appreciated.

    Great review! Thanks. I was interested in your comments about the quick fall off and, to me, the tone seems a little muted. I recently bought a Flame maple Lanikai tenor with DAdarrio strings which, to me, also seems a little muted without much sustain. I wonder if different strings would make a significant difference? If not, then I’ll probably return the Lanikai.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  Před 5 lety

      Don' t have them together to play them side by side i'm afraid and the Kala was a while ago. Both are good though, and sound quality is subjective too.

  • @oikhena
    @oikhena Před 5 lety

    I'm considering getting this or the kala solid cedar top comfort edge for about £400. I like the look and sound of both and am looking to upgrade to a uke with a pickup. As I live in the middle of nowhere in Lincolnshire, there are no luthiers nearby and not bold enough to start fitting my own.
    Do you have a preference either way? I'm leaning towards the kala and tuning it to low G, but I'm struggling to justify the extra £150 outlay as just bought a new car too.

    Happy New Year and best wishes to you and your family! Thanks for all the great reviews! I did purchase the Enya pineapple because of how quiet it is. I work in the children’s department in a library and it’s perfect for that (not too invasive). Plus with it being made out of HPL it works with the dryer climate. I also bought the Tenor Aklot and put a set of Daddario low G strings on it (I heard your not a fan) I absolutely love it for the price I recommend it to my patrons. I also recommend they come to your channel as well as your website to see what you say because I do respect your reviews.

With that being said I have purchased (based off your review) the Mainland uke, and also the Flight travel ukulele. I like to be able to show my patrons that as long as they’re smart and do they’re homework they can get a good uke without spending a small fortune. I will pass on your thoughts when I talk about the Aklot. Thanks Barry!

      I liked the build, but it’s beyond quiet! Far to quiet for me. You can mute a loud uke with a sock to reduce volume, but you can’t make a quiet uke loud. I’d not buy one for that reason alone. Their HPL soprano is the same sort of price and whilst still quiet is a bit louder

    You should try to investigate the ukulele branding when you say stuff like “I don’t know why you would do that” gives people the wrong impression. Enya is one of the few makers that puts a truss rod in their ukes so you take it out to adjust the truss rod

    • @GotAUkulele

      André Hernández what? There is no truss rod in this.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  Před 5 lety

      André Hernández and if you do have a truss rod you don’t remove it - it’s adjusted inside the neck, not that a ukulele has strings with tension to need one
