If you want proof that SEGA doesn't actually care about the ages of their characters, THIS is that proof. True, at eight years old, curiosity is more than likely going to get the better of a person. However, an eight year old should not be drinking alcohol, gambling, or be getting such a boner at that age. Yet, Tails is doing that anyway...take that for what you will.
Apparently in Sonic world you can walk into a casino as a child, have wine poured down your throat from between a scantily clad waitress's tits, and then be encouraged to drunkenly gamble.
Gonna be honest, I'm not even sure this version of Sonic and Tails have the same ages as their game counterparts, judging from a few things like the Sonic/Nicky duality and potentially other weird context.

The old Sonic manga is confusing because it was kind of like DIC's shows. You had multiple going on at once for different audiences. In this case, there were 6, all for different grade levels.

I’ve done a little bit of scanlating myself (though I don’t have time for it anymore), and you did a surprisingly good job with it considering you don’t even speak Japanese! I don’t really even feel like I need to find the raws myself and check anything, though for instance you can probably tell who is speaking in the “it’s not the real me” line by seeing if they use the male or female versions of “I”.
And yeah, attempting to manually transcribe the language is basically impossible if you don’t know a bit of Japanese already, lol
Damn I'll be kicking myself about not remembering that Japanese has gendered "I" versions (though I feel like there are situations where people would use the opposite gender ones?). Nice catch!
I feel like the machine gave fairly straightforward translations 90% of the time that barely needed any changes, I'm guessing that since this is aimed at kids that the vocab is a bit easier. It was a pretty fun exercise.

And yes, the usage of ‘I’ pronouns as gendered is far from a hard and fast rule. To my non-native understanding: They’re usually gendered, but they also see different use depending on formality and how the person wants to present themself. In particular, it’s not that unusual for women to use traditionally masculine pronouns (well, in fiction, at least), and while 私 is usually used by women, it is technically neutral and often what men use when speaking more formally.
But yeah, to know for sure, you’d have to see what Eggman/Robotnik and Amy use for themselves earlier in the story, but from my impressions of their characters, I doubt Eggman would use the gender-neutral pronouns - so, anything masculine or archaic is probably Eggman and anything neutral or feminine is probably Amy.
Sonic may be the fastest thing alive but Tails is the cutest thing alive.

little advice on how i quickly translate things, i usually use the google translate app to scan text and then put it through DeepL instead since its a lot better at picking up on small things etc etc.
also forgot to add but if translate doesn't wanna pick up any text correctly i use the handwriting feature to recreate the text since it doesn't care about stroke order
you mention that you use the Google Translate app, do you mean that you hold your phone up to a computer screen and use the camera OCR to get the text? I was hoping there was a better way than that, it can be so cumbersome!

I didn't know Tails got drunk at brony convention
I remember reading that manga you were talking about at the start, someone uploaded a bunch of videos showing that manga, but they only went up to the first chapter Tails showed up in. I remember thinking that his dad unknowingly used to be the first Sonic because of something Nicky says in the first story about his dad using the same ointment which ends up turning him into Sonic in the first place but I don't think that's the case, and Sonic was, around I guess?
It's really weird because I don't know very much about it outside of what I've been able to read and while loads of people of have made videos mentioning it, no one's sat down and laid out the whole history before, I don't even know how long it lasted.
All I know is that it was Amy and Charmy's first appearences and that it had a huge art style swift at somepoint. I don't know anything else, like why were those the only two characters who made the jump from manga to games or why Amy looks like same as she would in the games but Charmy got such a huge redesign.
If you do create a video, I would love to finally learn what was the deal with that, and why the change in design and style when they started doing color chapters.
