      First of all: Great review. Like always. I'd like to say that this device looks quite interesting. I've had the mi a1 and now the mi a2. I'm very impressed of both of them. The next one should be the mi a3. But seriously I have to check the display first. I'm not sure about the resolution.

      How does it compare with Redmi Note 8 Pro? I'm trying to decide between them.

    • @emperror85
      @emperror85 Před 4 lety

      I like mine, but without rooting and tweaking, the minimum brightness is way too bright in a dark room. The 720 resolution is definitely noticeable. I'm fine with it, but other people might not be. Definitely try it out in a physical store before buying if possible!
      I'd also prefer paying more to have a thicker phone with doubled battery. It's not a bad battery, but it's about the minimum battery capacity I'd accept.

    I bought the A3 yesterday after my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 broke the other day and I needed a quick replacement.
    The phone blows me away. It's better than the Note 8 in pretty much every single way I can think of. The low resolution of the screen doesn't bother me. The colors look nice and the speaker is AMAZING!
    Hands down the best phone I have ever used. And for such a low price. I'm very happy with my purchase.

      then it would be an LCD and there would be no difference between this one and the mi a2, the only reason xiaomi chose to go with amoled screen is for the in display fingerprint sensor, which is impossible to implement on an lcd.

    •  Před 4 lety +3

      Look I thought the same, until I got the phone a month ago. ive used cellphones with much faster fingerprint sensors, but ive fallen in love with this implementation. Once you get used to unlock the device on the table without having to take it up, you dont want to ever go back.
      Its interesting, because i almost dont buy the phone because of the screen res and the slow sensor, but now I really like the sensor and, although i would like a 1080 display, I do like the superb battery life.
      I know it is not for evereyone, but is a really good phone for the buck

    almost hitting the 3year mark on this phone once i reach the 4year mark i'll most likely buy a s21/s22 depending on prices and stability. bought the a3 very close to launch about a month or two off and it has served me well uptill now the updates have been rocky but got through it and android 11 is pretty smooth on this phone granted i have changed more settings than an average person would but that's my own endeavours of optimization.

    • @sireajeel5009

      reasons of upgrading in about a year
      - ram limitations 4gb -> 8gb
      - screen 720p -> 1080p / 60hz -> 120hz / brightness / colours / bezels
      - camera upgrade however mi a3 with gcam is seriously better than iphones cameras 10 under also a hole punch front camera.
      - try a new skin oneui you know i've tried ios and stock android so one ui is next and sometimes apps don't work or there's a reboot yea.
      - other things like build quality, sensors, ports, battery bla bla bla are really secondary upgrades the main one is simply screen, ram, camera and new os with better stability. anyways i'll enjoy its final year and probably still use it as a secondary phone for occasions here and there.

    I just got this phone today. After using the phone for an evening and I have to agree with Linus that the screen is nice. The pixelation is not an issue at all and the blurry texts are non-existent. Phone is very snappy and immediately comes with a Google update after setting it up. I used it for leisure games like monstercry, Looney tunes and it works very fine. Does not over heat. It supports aptx too. This is really a very good phone and complement to my s10e. 😃😃
    Edit: I forgot about the camera. Mine was snappy and does not lag when taking shots.

      not as bad trust me, it´s a great choice, and you are not losing a lot in fact netflix only reproduces in 720p on mobile devices, and in 480p in most midrange full hd phones because your phone needs to have an specific file to watch netflix at 720p (the mi a3 has it). You'll definitely notice the lack of resolution if you directly compare it to a full hd display, but you 'll get used to it and you'll also notice the punchy beautiful colors, watch this video on 720p and ask yourself, is it really that bad??. I'd say definitely go for this phone it's great and the screen is good for the price.

      Stock andorid is always the way to go. Just bought the Mia3 to my girlfriend and i don't regret it. The display is very good, although everyone says its low res. You can only notice it if you look the phone from 15cm, which you won't ever do. I compared it to her previous mi a1 with full hd, but lcd, and the amoled panel is much more vivid and enjoying to watch, and it also makes battery life a bit better. So no brainer here.

    Is it true that in-display fingerprint gets faster by updates!? Wonder how it will be polished through time. I've heard that the pixelation are not that evident anymore also through update, which I want to verify. Thank you!
    For those who want to buy the phone, wait for the price to become cheaper. You will appreciate more what it offers if the price is right.

    •  Před 4 lety +2

      I bought it for 180usd. For this price i would say it is pretty good. The sensor... I think it is a little bit faster, but maybe i just got better at placing the thumb. I takes a second to unlock, you can definitely notice the difference over a more tradittionally back-placed sensor. However... I wouldnt consider it a deal breaker, at least for me. It is also a good sensor, not fast, but it rarely fails. Hope it helps you :)

    • @TheSpongion
      @TheSpongion Před 4 lety

      I bought this A3 phone. I really like the pure Android. Xiaomi sometimes pushes adware on their other Android phones (depends on models and where you live in the world) but on a pure android phone like this (Android One) they are obliged by contract with Google to keep it clean.
      Battery life is pretty nice. The one I have takes at least twice as long to recognize my fingerprint compared to how long it takes in this video review. The design (shape/edges/weight/dimensions) feel really good in the hand and the construction quality is great as well. One of my greatest fears before buying it was the relatively low resolution of the screen but it's not a real problem from normal viewing distance. The OLED screen gives as good colors and contrast as a screen on a premium OLED phone like the Samsung Galaxy S9, S10 etc. Resolution is lower but not enough to make it not worth it for the price. I think it's a good deal.
