that footage of those rays breaching was incredible - nice one!
Your truly a teacher (speaker), the way you edit your videos is always great, edge of your seat entertainment, I know I wasn't the only person fixed on the braided line looking for a tick, lol thanks for your time
“Maybe Kevin Malone’s turtle?” LOL!!!😂
Glad someone got that!
Hah Ha ha ha ha ! I got it
I love how with all the new stuff you have . We are both still rocking the same 25 year old cooler !
Those are Eagle Rays. They are known to jump out of the water.
Nice John. I'm a KFA member and am down here during the winter with my kayak. I take trips down to Choko and EC. All though I'm in New Port Richey and the trip is longer. Very reminiscent of that area.
They say when fish jump like that they are flushing their gills out I would love to see you take your fluke fishing skills to California for halibut
I was fishing in Sebastian Fl. last year and the rays were jumping. Very cool!
Super cool looking fish!
Your clips are fantastic👍
Yes ! I’ve been waiting for this, love it, can’t believe it’s been two years. Of course a question, I noticed you’re using the playmate, what happened to that behind the seat cooler bag ? Thanks.
Great video!
Need to start migrating north with the stripers
Catfish down there, in my experience, LOVE dead shrimp and gulp shrimp. You should try those out if you’re looking for catfish live bait 👍🏼
It's been a long time since I've been Fluke (or Flounder) fishing but Pops always said that Flounder were springtime fish and Fluke were summer fish. Two different species. And they were only up north in cold waters. And I never heard of Fluke being down here so when you were saying Fluke I was thinking everything Pops told me was in error. I remember when minimum keeper length was 14", then it went to 15", then 17". I heard it was up to 21" not long ago (which was a pretty big catch when it was 14"). They battle for sure, and that was fun to watch after all these years!
Some areas around Quincy Mass. still have winter flounder, which are different from fluke (summer flounder). Long Island has very few winter flounder the last few decades.
@@JohnSkinnerFishingmiss them winter flounder
Nice video 🎉
You have to try flamingo key we fished with a popping cork with shrimp it was every cast either snook or redfish
those rays jumping were your warning that a shark was nearby
I heard the rays breach like that to remove live or parasites
pretty sure those rays are showing off for the youtube channel.
"Buck Tail Baits"...Grant, Florida!!!
I did a little research about the rays, it's possible they are giving birth to the next generation
As a displaced NJ guy now living in FL, I was hoping you would eat that Gulf Flounder for comparison (fluke) sake. I've eaten both and can't really see much difference. I was hoping for your opinion. Maybe next time!
Ray action was great. Was that maybe a white trout?
That bucktail with a strip of meat might of worked
How Big was that Flounder??
It looked over 20in.+ Nice Inshore Flattie.
Love Your work and video content..
Living in Fl. for 53 years now, I really enjoy the Northern Fishing experience you cover in the videos.
Keep up the tight work..
Nice toothy to finish up
I think it was 18.5-19. Our limit up North was 18.5 last season, so I measured a lot of those.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing You got to take a trip out to Southern California. You can catch California flounder in the surf that are bigger than the fluke you pull out of the Nantucket Shoals
Releasing that flounder hurt my feelings. I'd find it hard to release a legal flounder. Too tasty.
I literally yelled do not release that.noooooo.😂😂
It is thought that the behaviour is a method of communication, though scientists have not yet worked out the exactly what's going on. It could be a display to attract more rays into a mating event, or it could be a way of hunting as a group
Love the J & H sticker on the cooler. Say when are J&H Tackel going to get restock with the Skinner tautog jigs..they have been out of stock since the Fall .? Great video John love the Everglades
Hopefully April for J&H jigs.
And fluke bucktails
I don't think they know why the rays jump. Watch out for monster eagle rays in the keys. I believe a boater was killed by one and I know a guide who's leg was broken when a ray landed in his skiff.
There seems to be a lot of boat activity through that area are you launching out of chokoloskee for Everglades City
choko
Great video as usual..Do you think I should try the bucktail with gulp at the venice jetty??
I really don't know if you have flounder there. Bucktail and gulp is a great offering if there are. You'll catch almost everything else on it too.
The flying rays were awesome.
Do you ever come across any gators or crocs?
Not in this place. An occasional gator in the caloosahatchie well inland.
@JohnSkinnerFishing thankfully lol
Thats gotta be a terrifying experience on a kayak for sure!
what car do you have john?
What sun glasses do you use John? I’m currently looking for a new pair of fishing glasses.
Salt Life.
Back on the Autopilot. How does the ePDL compare to the AP?
I really like the ePDL for fishing the shallows where I can seamlessly go between pedal and power. It's a better craft for pursuing the spooky shallows fish like reds and snook. The AP has spotlock and autopilot, both of which I really like in deeper fisheries.
Have you ever tried otter tails instead of the gulps for grouper?
Have not tried.
Crocs make the best kayak shoes.
Recently picked up a Evict 3000. Ever have any issues with them?
I live on those Evicts in Florida and use them a lot on LI. They're rock solid with stainless gears. Amazing for the money.
Will always be Fluke to me.
How long does the battery last in the gopro?
Great video John
1:15 at 4K30FPS
So I am guessing you take more than one battery with you. Also can you send me the link for the GoPro head strap.
Thank John
What kind of battery do you use
PowerUrUs 12V100ah Lithium. That battery has an app so I can monitor charge.
Hey John personal question if u don't mind what did u do for a living to have every man's dream retirement???
Software developer.
Biologists say it could be a form of communication or attraction for matting season they not 100% sure just theories ..
