- In this video, we're sharing a significant leap in our homesteading journey - the construction of our very first greenhouse on our land! 🌱🏡
Well, it's more like a small poly-tunnel, but hey, it counts!
From planning to completion, we documented every step of this exciting project to bring you along on our adventure towards a more self-sufficient life.
This greenhouse is going to create a year-round growing space that allows us to extend our growing season, increase our food production, and get one step closer to food security. 🌿☀️
And honestly, we’re finally going to propagate A LOT of plants for our food forest!
In this video, you'll see:
• How we chose the perfect location for our greenhouse.
• Step-by-step construction footage, showcasing the challenges we faced and how we overcame them.
• Tips and insights for those of you inspired to start your own greenhouse project.
We hope this video inspires you to take your next step towards self-sufficiency, whether it's building a greenhouse, starting a garden, or planting your first food forest.
Enjoy!

I d like to subscribe but the security system doesn't let me in maybe because I live in Moscow... Anyway- whatever you decide ❤ In the meantime, when the rain came I was getting all excited to see the rain in your on contour water channels. (Missing the words to say it properly). How are these going? And the pound? Love your project ❤
Hi! Could you tell us where you bought the greenhouse? Thank you :)
I'm curious too😊
🧐
The live in greenhouse/vertical farm.
I grow figs under 2k lamps in the living room.
Each unit grows a different crop.
Nice to see you back on CZcams.

in Portugal it's very important to cut the Cytisus/Portuguese Broom that surround your land before the dry season because they are extreme fire propagators 🙏
And full of tiks
Beautiful greenhouse. Nice to see you again. Where did you buy the greenhouse?
Kris Harbour had the exact same thing happen when he built his greenhouse in Wales, but he turned it into an asset, providing him with a well inside the greenhouse
Yeah 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Update: I am so excited for you, especially seeing how you and your wife work together as a team, both having the love, passion, joy for this life.
I can't wait to meet my soulmate who desires the good life. Homesteading and embracing the simple life alongside nature 🙏🏾❤🤗.
Hi Shaneka, thank you!
We wish you good luck with finding your soulmate!
wellcome back you should publish more videos because they are very interesting ... that is a greenhouse not the cheap ones we see on other channels off-grid 😇💪👌
Hi Antonio, thanks! Yes, more regular videos coming!
@TheDutchFarmer
Yess we like the watch your video's
They are very good
Wow, fantastic looking Greenhouse. Love seeing and watching your progress, and all the smiles that come with it. Please send me a link on where you purchased the greenhouse? Muito Obrigado.
I am working on similar project with a slightly bigger size of 40 hecter land. The project has drained almost all of my savings and in two years I am hardly able to transform 30% of it. However, I have 4000 food trees standing that will start commercial next year onwards. Also growing alot of vegies and expecting at least 2 tons of garlic and another 2 tons of onions. Hopefully that will give some income that will be used to increase the size of cultivatable land. This is a very exepensive project. Good luck to you guys and waiting for more updates.
You must be the hardest working couple I’ve seen. Bravo👏👏👏
Great having you back. This is a huge game changer for your homestead and I wish you great success.😊
Missed you guys! 🫶🏼
I was wondering about you people , fortunately u uploaded today.😊
10:15 Love how it says "this side inside" on the outsid eof the door
Oops
Your place has really developed into a beautiful neat and well laid out place .
You two are awesome!
This is just what I needed this Morning. Great video! Love the Editing!
Welcome back, you've been missed! 🙂Great build. I really appreciate the explanation given as you go through the process..
That firepit area is goals!
Love the view around your property, both the natural high rocks above, and all the landscaping you've done. You've made a beautiful paradise for yourselves.
Good to see the area has greened up!
You two are so capable. Great to see your next project.
The vision, evolution and storytelling of your project is very inspiring ! Many thanks for sharing another episode !
Great to see you all again. The ultimate flat pack, IKEA eat your heart out. That was a superb job. I do love how you included your children in everything. Looking forward to seeing what you will be planting.
Thank you! We will be planting A LOT from now on ;)
I love how you're transforming and using this land! 🎉
Please make more Videos !!! Have a good one Daniel from
The water source that you dug might also be an underground stream, don't ignore that. That could source even a huge pond downstream if you supply it. This could help your homestead so much. I think you were lucky to find it accidentally.
If you replant shrubs, try to remove a part of the stems and leaves so the root/shoot ratio remains similar to before you transplanted it. This drastically improves the succes rate of transplanting!
Looks like a very nice greenhouse. For the tilting windows you can buy gas filled struts that open up and close the window at a certain temperature by expansion and contraction of the gas inside the strut. 👍
So good to see you back. I have missed your wisdom and it gives me pleasure to support you. Looking forward to your first bumper harvest....

Bon courage amis 😊
Merci!!
Vivo no Brasil, e sempre tive vontade de ir viver em Portugal. Usar o solo e clima daí. São fantásticos. Em que região vive?
Just a thought. Water, is critical. That water may just be runoff from the heavy rain. Or, it may be a small spring. It may not be there in the depth of Summer when you really want it. But, here is the thing. If you dig a hole. Line it with brick to hold the water back, even slightly, then, when you need water, it is already there in your greenhouse. Bury an IBC under it, let it fill the IBC and you can draw water from it when you need it, perhaps even in the dry months. Just a thought. Use what nature provides.
If you havent, see the video they've done on the swales, there is one just downhill from the greenhouse. That covers their main ways of using what nature provides.
I like those boulders up on the horizont of your property!
Just fantastic, you should be so proud
Was fun! Great job and great green house :)) I love it ! Good luck with the baby greens 🎉
I do not live in Portugal, however, my father always plants things and always uses insect screens to protect the plants. Looking at the structure of your greenhouse, I would recommend installing a plastic mosquito net where you have left spaces for the windows.
Gracias por compartir tus trabajos un saludo desde cabezón de la sal Cantabria España 🎉🎉
You guys are amazing!
Thank you for showing us your journey, following it for year.
One day… One day we will do the same 🫶
the feel of video is really nice, missed you. much love to the whole familly :)
Moreno, the greenhouse looks great and it's fun to watch the homestead come together. It has been an amazing journey to watch and I'm happy for you and proud of you for the work you have done to make it happen. I'm excited to see the benefits of having the greenhouse and how it will help you become more self-sufficient.
I love your puppy!
U gotta do lowkey daily vlogs at least on shorts so algo doesn’t forget u and more ppl get to witness ur beautiful adventure! 🫶❤
i have a greenhouse with the tarp that goes into the ground, its really strong.
it survived many storms the past 5 years.
Kris Harbour had a spring show up in his greenhouse foundation, and he incorporated it into the design to have a free water supply in his greenhouse.
Amazing Transformation Journey!! 🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴
Yay!! Missed you. Greenhouse looks great 🎉
Always waiting for your video, finally coming
Nice greenhouse! Your older videos will come in handy once we start growing here! Good luck with all you have going on at the moment in Portugal. 💪
Welcome back, great to see you and the family look to be doing well. The property looks great. Would love to see an update video with where it is at the moment and what your plans are going forward. All the best.
First day on the job with an old boss of mine, he'd give you a shovel and point out something that needed digging. If you couldn't dig for 6 or 7 hours without complaining, it was your last day.
You've done amazing things woth this property. Thanks for the videos!
Welcome back!
At first I thought, why would you need a greenhouse in Portugal when it's already so hot and sunny. But I guess you can better grow your own seedlings/saplings?
I got a few similar videos in my recommended. A project in Senegal (Trees for the future) looked very professional, engaging local communities. I believe Spain has many projects on water management and planting trees. In India there was a huge project where villages dug ponds and shales to retain water. And recent I watched the start of some mad man's journey to kinda do what you do in the most remote part of Texas (tried to avoid spoilers, but I saw was that he's still working on it). A weird recommendation were some people cutting down trees in Scotland... to help bring back a more diverse and more native ecosystem.
I was wondering, would it be fun to do a collab or live stream and talk about the challenges and differences with like-minded channels? Maybe exchange tips? I know the CZcams algorithm loves that kind of thing, leading to channels getting each other viewers.
Glad you're back, love your channel
It was good to watch your greenhouse build. Awesome
waited so long for your videos.hoping you post video weekly.❤
great work guys! looking forward to see what's next.
I really enjoyed your journey on this homestead up to now. I am trying to create an urban permaculture setup in our backyard. As our climate is very similar, I can learn a lot from and with you.
Interested to see the progress on the earth works and food forest considering that this winter had good rain
Love it❤. I have a 3000sqft greenhouse and enjoy growing in it
Keep up the awesome work guys!

When they are doing the initial measuring, that is a loquat tree in bloom in the foreground.
Well done, you too. God bless.
Great video, thank you!
Really enjoyed this informative video.
Nice work
Nice green house! Hope it is a great growing year for yall! .

So you're saying it was pretty straightforward. About a dozen times. Love your updates. I appreciate when people point out my verbal redundancies. Helps me improve. Much love from Florida.

Pretty straight forward 😁👌🏽
This was great. Wish we could get more of these. 😍
❤ You are so beautiful! It's interesting realize a video about budget of your total project! In the meantime i dream 😅
Like... I don't need to watch this... this knowledge will never help me, but it is for some reason very soothing and relaxing to watch.
If i visit Portugal i will definitely visit your project ❤
You two are amazing!!!!
