lol double comment, but the reason DDaeng was released for free on their Soundcloud is because they released it as a gift for ARMY's during Festa, which is a week in June every year when BTS and ARMY celebrate their debut date, which is June 13. BTS always releases free content, such as songs, for ARMYs during this week as well as doing a lot of other fun things, including performances. Also, since BTS love music and are very creative ppl, they release a lot of music for free, because it's not about the money to them it's about expressing themselves and sharing their creativity with the world.

I'm wondering, are the cyphers usually not included in the albums too? Just thinking, cause despite the occasional provocative political songs, they keep the group albums pg-13, and the cyphers don't really fit into that category. So could another reason be that the diss tracks, which continue on the cyphers, are more liberal in that sense? Like they can swear, throw insults etc.

Trust me, a lot of BTS fans are definitely into Hip Hop, but BTS' discography is seriously huge, not even including all the mixtapes, solo songs and covers they've also done over the years, so there is A LOT to recommend. So, just because ppl don't recommend something a lot doesn't mean it's not popular or appreciated in the fandom. Usually, ppl just tend to recommend certain songs to ppl when they're first getting into BTS such as Fake Love or Blood, Sweat & Tears etc. Also, ppl will recommend certain videos based on what vids you've already reacted to or things you say in your videos bc trust me, BTS has something for everyone, their music spans all genres, so ARMY tends to tailor their recs based on what they think ppl will like.
In the spirit of that and also as a way to show you how they tell a story through their songs, I think it would be cool if you reacted to these two songs in one video. Outro: Her and Outro: Tear. They are the outros to the albums Her and Tear respectively, and like Ddaeng they are rapline songs. I've always wanted someone to react to both songs in one video, but usually ppl focus more on telling people to react to Tear bc it's a lot more of a hard-hitting and wow factor song. But I love the song Her, it's such a vibe, and these two songs are definitely connected, being the songs that kind of encapsulate the themes of the albums they're on. If you do, listen to Her first, and then Tear. So yeah, if you did that, I would love you so much haha Not that I don't already think you're awesome

Ddaeng is free since they made the song for the celebration of their anniversary so it's like a gift to the ARMY. Every anniversary, they release free self-produced songs as gifts. :)
I mean it's not a surprise anymore considering Namjoon released his most recent mixtape for free so a lot more people can listen to it since it's like a playlist for healing.

Bangtan's hip hop sold me first. Hands down. I used to hear their songs on soundcloud back in like, 2014, and blindly liked tracks from them without even knowing who they were. I used to be like, "Rap Monster?? boiiiii if you want THAT name, you bett---"and then he quickly shut me up after I listened to his mixtape. their rap songs BITE. They will cause car accidents. UGH! for instance. . . .will make you wanna go inflict some harm. And RM's starting verse in OUTRO:TEAR will probably give you a mean stank face. To name a few. I'm just sayin. They aren't playground music.
And I'm pretty positive this is the rapline's producing work. There's a video somewhere of RM, Suga, and Hope in the studio working on Ddaeng, adding stuff and taking things out. delicious beat.

I don’t see any comments talking about this so i would like to add that in RMs verse he mocked the people who used to look down on them when bts were small and are now kissing their *sses and being friendly now that they're successful by stuttering their so-called "apologies". that’s why in part of his verse he has a “stutter flow” it’s my favorite part of the whole song
if you’d like more rap line songs i would recommend ugh! (plus the explained video), the cypher series, and outro: tear.
if you want to see some vocal line songs i would recommend dimple, the truth untold, and house of cards (this is the song that got me into them)

I think I heard somewhere that the reason why he does the stuttering flow it's also because other rappers were making fun of his diction and pronunciation as well as the mocking of the haters. The other rappers that criticized him would often pick on him because when he raps "he's not clear and doesn't enunciate the words correctly", so he's like "even when I stutter my flow sounds cooler than yours". If I'm not wrong it's one of the thoughts behind "Joke" as well. But I could be completely off on this.

Fun fact. For RM's second solo album, dubbed "mono." He released several links on Twitter, including a Sound Cloud link and a Google Doc file, on top of the regular streaming channel releases (iTunes, Google Music, Spotify, etc).
If you downloaded the free files, it came with a file that read:
    *Belongs to everyone*
And some other things. Point being, they release music for free quite often and don't include some songs on albums due to the overarching themes/stories the album is supposed to portray.
PS: There wasn't any promotion for this besides the Song List names like 3 days before release. It peaked #1 on iTunes in 90 countries. Beating out BTS's previous record of 89 until their most recent album, Map of the Soul: 7, on Feb. 21, 2020.
PPS: BigHit, BTS's label has a thing. Any artist under their label can release music whenever they want, how they want. Only if the music is mainly written, composed and/or produced by said artist. They will still provide help from their inhouse producers and song writers and with release promotions if desired. But if you want to release music, you have to make it yourself.

This song was written and produced by the rapline along with one other producer contributing.
BTS members release lots of songs for free on Soundcloud. Members sometimes work independently on music that might not fit with the current album concept or just because. The label supports them in releasing solo work. It's usually free. When they produce independent work the company does not do promo for it. Occassionally they may ask a nominal fee for a playlist or mixtape. RMs recent "playlist" was like $4.00 but it's usually free. Ps. Rm's "mono" charted #1 in 100 countries. Lots of times the members make songs for Armys as a gift just because....
Dude. The card game reference is just this song. However, BTS makes smart music...they often use lots of metaphors, cultural references, references to books and literature. Prepare to get smart. Rm is a lyric MASTER and happens to be a genius with an IQ of 148. Several members have rather high IQs.
And the reference to ramen is because Koreans are very sensitive to sodium intake and they believe if they eat ramen their faces swell. 🤣 (We have a Korean university student that lives with us.)
You should react to the Cyphers 1, 2, 3 and 4 and the Live Cypher Medley where they specifically addressed their haters. In the beginning they were a hip hop group.
RM and Suga were part of the Korean underground rap scene.
React to Outro Tear, my of my favorite rapline songs.
Also BTS albums have a certain blueprint. They have an intro song which is usually a solo by one of the members. They have been taking turns. And they have an Outro song. In between you will find vocal line song, rap line song, group songs and unit songs (mix of rap and vocals). They usually oy make 2-3 videos per album and those are the songs released as singles. Honestly, all their songs could be singles but they tend to do full group songs as the single for the album with a solo or unit song for the other single release. This last album series was a little different. We got more single releases and more videos.

Bro... you would love their Cypher medley - it's a live performance, and it's so good. To answer you question about why this song was not released on an album - their albums are very concept-heavy and follow a linear progression of a thematic progression through the different songs - Ddaeng just wouldn't fit with the album at the time. Also, they have something called FESTA ever year, which is kind of like a week-long band anniversary celebration. They will release new tracks, dances, song covers, and other stuff just for fun, and Ddaeng was released as a part of 2017's FESTA. Ddaeng is definitely a fan favorite and we really wish we could buy it lol.

You should also check out their songs Bapsae/Silver Spoon and Ugh. Both of those also have explanations by DKDKTV that really show off just how brilliant they are when it comes to their lyrics. Bapsae/Silver Spoon is actually all of BTS and there's a dance practice video with english subs for that song as well.
The lyrics for Ddaeng were written by RM, Suga, and J-Hope and the music was co-produced by Suga and another musician/producer named Jang Yi-Jeong.

  • @jhopeur7219
    @jhopeur7219 Před 4 lety +2

Since you're into hip-hop, I hope you'll check out some of the stuff from their mix tapes. J-Hope has a really unique and versatile style--very melodic (he's a sub-vocalist so he sings too), lots of variation in flow and tone (his Jeolla accent really gives his sound a fresh color). He does funky stuff (think Pharrell) but he also does the more trendy Mygos-style rapping. And he's really lyrical (his lyrics are really referential to literature and Korean pop-culture tho so it goes over people's head's sometimes--his mix tape Hope World is based off of Jules Vernes 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, e.g.). He also has the most amazing stage presence (it's ARMY legend that everyone comes out of BTS concerts J-Hope-biased). His brand is really innovative and flavorful and I like to call it "swaggy sunshine." But there's a lot of depth there too. I recommend Ego, Baseline, Airplane and Daydream to get an idea of his sound. (But I think he really shines through his parts in BTS full group songs.)
Suga is so emotional when he raps. His solo "First Love" is the most emotionally exhausting song I've ever heard. His lyrics are always raw and direct (whether in a dis track or in something more private and personal). He's very honest with his art and puts his heart in his music. And he does these really cool inflections with his voice that hit so hard. He's known for his speed too--he's one of the fastest idol rappers! We're all very very very excited for AgustD 2. I recommend First Love, So Far Away (ft. Jungkook and Jin), AgustD (of course), and Shadow.
RM is just a beast. Totally unmatched in his tone and delivery. Maybe it's because his sound is more accessible as it's highly influenced by East Coast 90s hip hop in particular, but he's the first one that stuck out to me. His 2015 mix tape "RM" is amazing. His lyrics are poetic and layered and clever and you really have to parse through them to get at what he's saying. His latest mix tape "Mono" is a totally different sound and is very vocal heavy (and he has a beautiful vocal sound). I think his music is so so Kim Namjoon. It feels very introspective and you can't listen to it without growing as a person (if that makes sense). I recommend Awakening, Moonchild, Persona, and Love.
Anyway, BTS has the best rapline and for group songs, I totally recommend you watch the Cypher Medley Live from 2017. It will actually blow your mind. Also Outro: Tear is a must watch live song, and their newest rapline song Ugh.

Suga’s also my favourite rapper in BTS, and honestly he is just insane. But as you’ve learned by listening to this song, RM steals the show here. He simply does. It is mind blowing. They’re all amazing rappers, but what I love about their music is that they all have an opportunity to shine whether in their solo stuff, or in other rap songs. RM shines brighter than anyone in Ddaeng, but personally I believe that Suga’s rap is outstanding in the Cypher series. J-Hope’s verses get better and better with time, and he brings a light that the other two don’t have. I love all seven of them, but Suga and J-Hope have stolen my heart. Great reaction! I’m looking forward to more videos, and for you to discover all their stuff (group songs, solos, the rapper mixtapes, covers, the storyline, etc). It’s a long long way, but think how much a group has to offer. I personally haven’t found any other group that allows me to dive that deep into their music, whatever I may be feeling at that moment. Other comments explained Festa as the reason Ddaeng wasn't included on any albums. They made it for that specific debut anniversary celebration. Additionally their albums are thematically constructed based on a particular story arc, which you explained so well in the earlier video. So it wouldn't fit in anyway. BTS members create so many masterpieces. There are genius songs RM included in his last solo project ( a playlist called mono), that he had for years but didn't include in albums. They really produce so much outside of their official studio albums and give us so much for free. J-Hope's rendition of Chicken Noodle Soup that blew up last September was also free even though he paid the original artist a couple million for the royalties. It was a passion project...they really out here doing it like that.
It'll be easier to think of the card game like poker. It's commonly referenced in Korean culture so you see it in dramas and movies a lot. The magic combos are less like face cards and more like a royal flush or w/e is a good hand in poker. You don't have to spend more time on it. It was mainly for this song.
    Recommendations for whenever:
The Cyphers ( 1-4) to get a sense of the development of their rap flow. and then Cypher Medley Live to see their performance energy.
    Outro:Tear Live
    BOY MEETS EVIL
    Intro: Persona
    Interlude: SHADOW
UGH again with explanation by DKDKTV

A lot of their stuff on their soundcloud is from their mixtapes, covers, or like ddaeng - it's a gift to us during their Festa (a celebration for the anniversary of their debut) :D

Bro your anime references are everything i needed in my life, like.. thank you for existing and deciding to upload this to the internet because a weeb reacting to bts and just loving everything is fucking me i swear.
Also, you've said before that you want to be an artist, hopefully you can put up something on youtube! i promise right now to give it listen:)
Also also, bts' albums generally have a theme and point that all their songs fit, like a message that they're trying to make so that's probably why ddaeng didn't make it, it just didn't fit the message.

And then you could watch the behind the scenes which shows them in the process of producing the song and rehearsals: [ENG] 180713 [BANGTAN BOMB] BTS PROM PARTY : UNIT STAGE BEHIND - 땡 (Ddaeng) - BTS (방탄소년단)
. The production stuff is really interesting.

Idk if someone else has mentioned in the comments, but you gotta hear the rapline's song UGH which is on their last album Map of the soul: 7. It's a banger! And btw there's an explanation for it on the same channel you watched now..

all of the members have really great solos, they really help you to see their vocal skills. All of them have more then one solo track but my personal favorites are RM- moonchild V- singularity Jimin- serendipity Suga- AgustD Jin- (epiphany is my favorite but as you already know that one Awake is great too) Jungkook- Euphoria Jhope-chicken noodle soup
these are all really well known songs but still very good! also please react to live performances like Anpanman because that stage is what made me an army in the first place and is one of my favorite stages because it again shows a different style of music as well as being very fun to watch!

FYI as a black ARMY (hip-hop from birth experience lol) the rap-line and BTS' hip-hop was and always has been one of the major draws for me to them. They really have a special love, appreciation and connection to what hip-hop truly is, which just makes it all the more great.

Answer: High sodium meals cause bloating.
😋 Thanks for reacting to the song & explanation! When you were talking about the instruments, I reeeeally was thinking, "Oh, I wish he had heard IDOL (song) and seen their MMA 2018 performance of it!" There's this reeeally great video that explains the traditional Korean instruments in that context & gives some toootally great background about how BTS' music relates to Korean arts history... it makes my nerd heart happy. Whenever you get around to those 2 things, I'll pass it along.
