  • Bertom DeNoiser may be the best noise removal plug in out there for V.O., not to mention that it's FREE (well, pay what you want). I tried it out and was really impressed by how natural it sounds.

Loved your review, and I especially appreciated your style of narration - clear, concise, and entertaining.
    Great stuff!

As it is the default seems to be -6dB on all bands. My take would be to default to all sliders up at the top at 0dB, turn the threshold up pretty high then identify which frequencies your noise is at using the sliders and dial just those down.
I really like how it shows how much it's attenuating each band. Sweet plug though, going to try it against Izotope's spectral de-noise.

Another great video Mark! So is this essentially a gate with various frequency band controls??

I believe it’s using spectral substitution on each band and may have less artifacts because it’s not just relying on one spectral analysis across the signal’s entire frequency spectrum.

I'll have to go back and try this one again. If you want a middle ground between this and, say, the C-Vox - try the Waves Clarity Vx, the $30. version. It's even simpler, just one knob to adjust and two algorithms to choose from. Oh, and for C-Vox, wait for one of UA's major sales and pick up 4 plugins for $399.... or see if maybe it appears on their new $99. weekly sale.

Hi Bj. I tried the Waves Clarity Vx and for whatever reason I couldn’t get it to pass audio. Couldn’t figure out why. Never had that issue with a Waves trial before so unfortunately I wasn’t able to demo it. I was taking with someone at UA about Cvox and the impression. I got was that because of how it’s licensed, not to hold my breath waiting for it to go on sale. Still hoping it will.

@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff Yeah, I could see not being available for the individual sale... so the best deal will be in June when UA usually puts their bundles on sale = eg. any 4 plugins for $399...

I'd recommend something like Waves Z-Noise or Waves WNS. The problem with 1 band/knob options (I own Waves NS1 too) is you don't get much control.

@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff The Clarity Vx was recently updated to include a new algorithm for voiceover, so maybe that might fix your demo issue?

@@bjmora9612 Good to know! I'll have to circle back around and try to demo it again at some point. Thanks Bj!

Wow..I just started feeling a little uneasy having blown 300 bucks on the cvox recently:) it is pretty cool though. I need to give this a try. Thanks a lot for the video.

Ouch. Honestly, I'd rather be able to insert the noise removal plug inside Console like with CVox because it would give me more routing options instead of using it post Console in Logic.

Bro is it necessary saving with it when done recording?

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  Před měsícem

You can record first, then run it through the plug in. I just like cutting live through whatever sound I'm going to send to clients.

I paid for this but it’s saying license not valid when I hit load license to use it

Probably the best free one, but Waves stuff goes on sale pretty frequently. I could really only recommend Bertom if someone was using Linux or needed a free tool to clean up an audition or demo. Though for Linux users I'm sure there are much better plugins that work with compatibility layers like WINE and CARLA.

Good to know. I'd love to hear from any VO peeps using Linux and what that's like.

Honestly, Bertom works better than waves noise suppression for me when paired with an expander
