Im proud of those 2 Filipino guys who guided you til BGC. You will find that kind of filipino all over Philippines, that runs in our viens being kind to someone like you. Western men think of this kindness as if we want money, it's not true.I lived in Bavaria, Hessen and recent in NRW and I never experienced that kindness. Hi Ken , i entirely agree to you. Philippines is alive, a lot of people to talk with. Here ( Germany ), the people are very cold. I wish my husband would agree to live in the Philippines. I miss the food , the Philippine life and my family back home. Thank you for taking me to your tour.

I'm not sure about you but I am happy to be born a Filipino. If you are not contented in your life, then you will wish that you were born somewhere else. But if you are already happy in your life, then you don't wish to be born somewhere else.
I took a vacation in the Philippines around 1998, and from your videos, it seems people are doing much better there now. I'm not seeing security guards everywhere in your videos with shotguns and machines or massive numbers of homeless. It's wonderful that people are doing better there now.
Our GDP increased 5 fold since that time. But I miss the simplicity of that era. Security guards with shotguns are still around
Security with Shotguns and the homeless are still there. There are improvements such as BGC etc... But there are still problems like you stated... Still... Improvements are improvements... Not gonna complain. 😅
They call that richly area CBD or Commercial Business District, where Skyscrapers flock together. They also have that in Makati, Manila-Binondo, Ortigas, Araneta, Eastwood city, Newport city, SM Mall of Asia eCommerce, Aseana Entertainment city, Filinvest city Alabang, etc. in Metro Manila. It’s a planned city-district for Business-Commercial estate to foreign & overseas Filipino investors. While those old places you’ve been, they were there since Spanish colonial era, its not owned by new blood investors but administered by Local Govt.

Ken, I haven't tried the Ferry, I usually walk along by the bridge, and or ride a jeepney, but I am glad you tried that one. but hope I can see you riding a bus or riding a jeepney, and remember these words, to pay - say "bayad po" "meaning here's my fare or transport pay" we call that Pamasahe meaning Fare, to step off say "para po sa tabi" or "dyan lang po" meaning; "stop right there or here", also, if you ride a bus there are a conductor or payment assistant officers who will take your fare, first they will ask you your stop. you can say "Makati po" if you're going to makati, and or to Guadalupe, then the conductors will tell you how much you're going to pay, please prepare 100's, 20's, 50's and some coins. never give them 1000 and or 200 pesos, for store payments most of the store accepts Gcash and or paymaya app payment so you don't need to bring big cash with you, also most of the buses now uses QR code for payment using the GCASH app. If you are going to Baclaran, and or Quiapo remember not to bring too much, I hope thieves are minimized in those areas but always remember to be alert with your stuff.

BGC is amazing. Was living there for a couple of month. But Makati is also nice. It's the old business district

Ken visit coron palawan ride also boat passing underground river. After in Palawan you need to visit also Basco Batanes the northern island in Philippines you can see the mountain and landscape really beautiful and also the rock formation look like New Zealand.
You were initially correct 9n your route goin to Bgc via your intended ferry. However, they unintentionally brought you to a longer route. From your start, you should have taken the jeep to Guadalupe and a few steps away is the entrance to Bgc. No need to ride the ferry. But if you want to take the ferry, you should do it goin to Chinatown from Guadalupe or Hulo station coming from your hotel in Makati.
Bgc and Makati are the places which the philippines wants itself to project however in reality its Quiapo that best describes the Philippines. Hopefully we'll be like Malaysia in 2 decades
How you felt in the affluent area where street vendors are missing, I think that's why you liked Kuala Lumpur. It's because despite of KL being a modern city, you can still find street food available almost everywhere

You can visit Tarlac, its another District that was opened a few years ago and its a EUROPEAN showcase.
It's a not surprising that Filipinos would mistook you as a basketball player......and given the situation that basketball is the one of the most popular sports in the Phillippines....Travelling like the locals ....with the locals.....What a trip.... and the area is pretty much for expats or much wealthy citizens who are able to splurge.... Probably tourists as well.... If you come here to wine or dine .... You pretty much quite well-off.... As always looking forward to the adventure when you start exploring like the rest of the Philippines like in Thailand & Malaysia.... And Sri Lanka as well..... Stay safe out there, be vigilant and take care on the road ,, mate!!..
There's a lot more area in Metro Manila like BGC, you can go in Easwood City, Power Plant, Filinvest City, Ortigas Center and Cubao Araneta Center.

Pls. Try to visit EASTWOOD financial and industrial district it is commonly called San Francisco (USA) of the Phils. Or the ORTIGAS business center just across the bridge from the BGC. these are modern business centers as the BGC

BGC is not only a Modern District In the ph🇵🇭 but, in The World as well. it is way more larger than the SCBD of Jakarta🇮🇩 , KL🇲🇾 and Bangkok🇹🇭
I can’t say for KL but BKK BCDs are far larger than your BCD because we have so many. At least 4 BCDs scatter around BKK.
@@jomontanee MANILA has 30+ CBDs and 5 still under reclaimation and constructions and it is scattered but 5 of them are the major like MAKATI CBD, ORTIGAS CBD, BGC, FILINVEST CITY and ASEANA/ BAY CITY these CBDs are home with modern and tallest offices, banks, hotels, casinos, residentials and entertainments. if all CBDs of MANILA are compact in 1 area i cant imagine how huge it really is. MANILA CBDs are way larger because of the American Design influence. very vast and wide.

from Poblacion Makati BGC is just a few minutes away. you took the longer route to Mckinley Hill which is another neighborhood beside BGC.

well done Ken, you have experience the taxi ferry there in ManilaMakati :-). I have not tried it yet there in Manila/makati area, hahaha, probably because i spent most of my working life in Intramuros/Manila City area. I only used jeepneys and buses :-D. Stay safe :-)
