Part of it is because Leon is terrible at promoting himself to be honest. He isn't a big draw, and then when he's in the octogon, despite the fact that he is very talented, in his last fight with Diaz he somehow managed to lose despite having won. He was boring the entire fight, he took no risks, and sure, more power to you if all you care about is winning, but people aren't going to enjoy watching you fight and then you end up with no power in the industry to get the fights that you want. If you can't pull the crowd you're not going to be a priority. Maybe it shouldn't be this way, but it is. He was picking Diaz apart without having to do too much and then somehow managed to almost get knocked out towards the end. I don't think I've ever seen a win that felt so much like a defeat. People aren't excited to watch Leon fight any of the top guys after seeing him get rocked by a guy who isn't known for his punching power and that isn't even one of the top guys in the division, after having spent 5 rounds doing nothing but the bare minimum against him.
