@@killmrdarcy4367 I heard that he signed a contract for 2075 to sing 15 Collines in Boheme and 12 mime roles, the latter which will be the most satisfying. He is now going into his 10th year as a non tenor, which is growing as a higher percentage of the entire career. One year of bad singing should make his admirers overlook his mistake, not 10. Sills knew when to retire, although most people couldn't notice. PD is a great musician with some weird sense of excessive vain. Basta PD, stick to conducting !!!!

Admire the discipline, energy and curiosity. But the fact is the voice has become non-descript and charmless, in a no-man's land somewhere between tenor and baritone, but without the real range of either, nor the flexibility for real interpretative impact. But, good luck to him.

You are kidding, right? I have seen him 3 times since 2019... met him after every concert...I had conversations with friends, colleges from opera, all pros. and they agreed that after nearly 40 years of the hardest tenor roles this was a good decision and that while the tone stays the same and he keeps the range...as he did...There are so few great, great baritones in the world...actors, singers with stage presence and sadly Placido had no problem becoming one overnight...rightfully so most baritones can not do one thing while this man can sing, he can act and let me tell does he have a charisma and stage presence...

@@adrijanaselj6322 Thanks. But I still disagree. For me, it's the same with his conducting. Nobody thinks he is a great conductor either but he's Placido and he is liked and people indulge it and overlook the strict artistic merit. I too like Placido and I don't begrudge him doing what he does but I think we have to be realistic about the output. Anyway, that's my two cents worth.
