Yes, but the pope is a class act. He sees the emotionally charged question, for example, the one on surrogacy she poses to him and though he could have called it out for the abominable practice that it is in the harshest of terms, he remains compassionate with the plead of women who cannot bear children while still stating clearly that it is materialistic, transactional, and thus gravely sinful and offers other options such as adoption. Now, there is an even more complete and beautiful answer if you examine the question fully in the teachings of the Church, but for an interview (put on the spot) that was a great answer.
Appeal to emotion - is an informal fallacy because the problem lies in the content of the argument. In the absence of logical reasoning, someone may appeal to our emotions to conceal the fact that there is no compelling evidence to support their claim. The same weapon they use when arguing in favor of ab0rti0n, they trot out the 10 year old that has been rap3d, which is not at all representative of the most common reasons cited by pro-ab0rt institutions themselves, but which is designed to pull at heart strings so as to ignore reason.
Absolutely our faith is for everyone and for anyone who blocks the door for the healing of the hurt the distraught. God is watching. We should never put a block on our doors, because Christ came here to abolish all of that.
The translation is not accurate. For example: "It is a joke, don't take it badly" should be "It is a joke, don't take it the wrong way." Just a minor example but not translated correctly IMO.

I like the Pope's acknowledgment that "fundamentally people are good." Imagine if we all allow our goodness to shine instead of bad the world over. Most or if not all the problems created by man will be God.
On another note though is that never at one point in the interview did the Pope refer to the Bible but only to the Church's "traditions." Now this is dangerous.
The Church's traditions are scriptural and traditions proper (the latter which cannot contradict the former). This is what catechized Catholics know is meant by that. It is important to be educated first on the language in order to understand what's meant (i.e. like thinking "cancer" means the same thing in astronomy as it does in biology).

You can see at every point how the questions and and answers in Italian are twisted. 11 years later they still give an impartial translation of what he said on the plane regarding a formerly gay priest. Tp paraphrase correctly he said-"If this man has discontinued this lifestyle, sincerely repented, had his sin absolved through the Sacrament of Confession, then who am I to judge his sincerity. It is between him and God." That's a far different answer than "Who am I to Judge". This is how the media lies. Notice he corrected her about same sex unions/blessings also. Pope Francis has not been silent about the war in Ukraine. He has condemned this war and called for stopping it immediately. He has attempted a peace mission.
Yet, it is broadly expected that the Pope of Rome should be acting first and foremost as the spiritual leader and teacher.
Regrettably, I have to express my opinion that
- Pope Francis, as the spiritual leader and teacher, has never publicly expressed his views about the Moscow Patriarchate's attempts to provide religious inspiration and justification not only for the war in Ukraine, but for the Russian authorities' nationalistic aggressive ideas of "spiritual" supremacy of Russia and its "holy" role in the modern world as a "defender" of Christianity and "traditional" values, "Russian world", and so on.
- Pope Francis, as the spiritual leader and teacher, has never publicly offered his vision on the spiritual position of the Moscow’s Patriarch blessing a murderous war, elevating it to the status of a crusade and preaching presumed forgiveness of personal sins of all the Russian soldiers involved in this war.
- Pope Francis, as the spiritual leader and teacher, has never publicly offered a spiritual teaching on the incompatibility of Christianity and nationalism as it specifically applies to the war in Ukraine and current nationalistic tendencies in the world.
My belief is that it is vitally essential. From this perspective, it is hard to appreciate and accept the lack of Pope Francis' spiritual reaction to such a challenge and its replacement by a public stance regarding political aspects, in which the Pope Francis’ competence looks doubtful.

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. (1 Jn 2:2)

Pope Francis claims to be the "Vicar of Christ" but can't even get the Gospel right?? "People are fundamentally good. We are all fundamentally good...The heart itself is good." Either Pope Francis has never read the Bible or is purposefully deceiving people.
Jeremiah 17:9 - "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?"
Psalm 51:5 - "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me."
Romans 3:10 - "as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;"
