I'm Pete, I play guitar! Having fun with metal guitar doing everything from modern metal, extended range 7 strings and 8 strings to thrash metal on a good old 6 string. Riffs in the styles of other bands, shredding and lots of fun with metal music!

Master Of Puppets... but 'Doomified' :)
It’s awesome but what is the tuning?
I wanna blow up a mancubus to this! 🤘
My first thoughts right at the very start!
@Apoplexia Tuning is G# standard, basically as low as I could go on a 25.5 inch scale 7 string haha :)
@@peteplaysmusic Whoa! It didn’t sound that’s badly intonated for such a short length! This is what Wes Hauch does i think…
This is like what if Mick Gordon playing Master of Puppets
Doomified :)
Nah, need a 9-string for that
Maybe not heavier, but definitely feels like Mick Gordon got a hold of it lol
Puppets but, Doomified :)
@@peteplaysmusic Master of Puppet-Demons
That tone reminds me more of Mick Thompson tbh. Sounds sick though!
@@peteplaysmusic Doomified with a fast tempo. This may be a new genre??
Definitely heavier to my ears
If Eddie had played this, Doomslayer would’ve appeared and murdered EVERYTHING
This definitely would’ve been a very different episode haha :)
Ok, but picture this. Doomslayer and Vecna 1V1 while Eddie shreds some battle music in the back. 🤘
Next season. 🤞🤞🤞
@@ethanlee9692 except vecna has no chance. Even gamelay slayer could kill the entire upside down.
This is one of those Nik Nocturnal's "What if MOP was recorded today" type of deals
Haha, I guess it kind of is :)
If Mick Gordon made Master of Puppets. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I Doomified it haha :)
It has been often said that "Master of Puppets" is one of the inspiring tune for "At Dooms Gate", the famous Doom theme. So this cover really brings it full circle! Loved it and I can really tell it has been worked on by you. Great work!
Somebody needs to make this in to a mod for Doom
No but deffo proves that lower tuning or more strings doesn't always equal heavier.. it's how you write a song and the tone choices
I need more of that. Do the whole Song with the solo. Heck the whole album. That slaped :)
Haha, thanks! Not sure I can make the time to do a whole album like this but maybe some more videos! :)
@@peteplaysmusic no pressure, but I will allways be there if you got more of it ;)
Pretty sweet for sure, I love down tuned songs. My only issue is it's hard to hear what the guitar is doing in some instances when you add drums to it it kinda gets lost
Thanks! :)
Immediately recognized the Mick Gordon style. Well done!
Thanks! I referenced his style a lot for this :)
A great demonstration of why old thrash metal sounds better than most modern metal (imo, obviously).
Nah old thrash metal is absolutely disgusting and pure garbage 🗑️
This definitely proves that if metallica were born today, they would go on completely unnoticed.
My jaw absolutely dropped because Master of Puppets is am ALREADY difficult song to do. Mad respect, Pete.
I'd say it works well. And it makes perfect sense that it would, given that John Romero is a massive metalhead, and Doom's iconic E1M1 theme is veeery Metallica-esque, so much so that Floppotron included Puppets in his Doom Theme performance.
THAT WAS AMAZING MAN!!! FREAKING AWESOME I AM GONNA DOWNLOAD THAT RIGHT NOW 🔥🔥😍😍
Pete never disappoints!
🤘🏼🤘🏼
Haha, thanks! :)
That was awesome! Thx man! Bless you!
Thanks for watching! :)
WOoooow that was dope af, Pete! Doomified for sure!
Just intro immediately got me the kind of argent metal vibes i get with all of geoffplayguitar's covers
That was awesome! (although now I want to hear the part in between the two solos in the style of Mick Gordon)
Love this man! God knows how you come up with this stuff but it’s amazing.
Thanks! :)
@@peteplaysmusic would love to see a tutorial on your mixing cause it always sounds great dude!
Thanks! I made one a long time ago and I’m still using much of the same stuff. I’ve made lots of tweaks and changes along the way though. Maybe one day I’ll make an updated version! :)
@@peteplaysmusic would be awesome if you had the time dude. Great job again, keep it up!!
Niiice! What guitar is that?
Thanks! That’s a Harley Benton Amarok, check out the link in the description :)
Have you tryed the Harley Benton MultiScale TPB 7 string? How does it compare to the amarok one?
And witch amarok do you like better the BT or 7 string feeling wise
Get down!! Man this rips!!! G double o d run!!
master of THE DOOMSLAYER!!!
sweet cover mate!
Thanks! :)
I'm more and more interested in getting a HB Amarok, but I'm attracted more to the baritone one, since I'm not a soloist (more like Carcass rythmic riffs)...
What do you guys think about it?
The Baritone is great too :)
@@peteplaysmusic yeah I watched your "old" video of all the Amarok guitars, that boosted me the interest 🤣 thank you for replying!
Duuuuuude! I want to hear the full song with modern metal vocals as well. That would be sick!
Also: Why does everyone in the comments think Mick Gorden invented djent? hmmm...
Pete himself says he ‘Doomified’ the song. In other words, made it like how Mick Gordon would play it.
It's not really just djent it's very Argent. If there were synths then of course it would be completely Argent but it still is totally doom
You can create pretty interesting riffs by playing Master Of Puppets in different tunings and that's a writing tip I want everyone that sees this comment to have Also Well done Pete My kudos to ya
Sounds awesome!
Thanks! :)
Awesome...as usual...🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks! :)
So much doom 😈 thoughts on using moises or mvesp to slice out the original vox to create a "cover"?
I have the same guitar and it is amazing!!!!! I love amarok 6 pro
The Amaroks are awesome! :)
Very nice as always. Doomified indeed! 🤘
Please make the full master of puppets album in this style. Would be amazing!
MOAR!
MOOAARR! :)
Excellent👌🤘🤘
Thanks! :)
Is that the reason why Metalica released "Master of Puppets lyrics video" on Yesterday?
someone needs to do some sick vox over this
If devildriver covered master of puppets...
The intro sounded like Slaughter to Prevail, but then shortly after it got quite Mick Gordony
Thanks! :)
Very sick
Thanks! :)
It's something beetween Doom and old Slipknot, interesting !
What do u use to get that tone?
This was Neural DSP Archetype Nolly :)
Where can I get this with @Kmac2021 vox?
Off topic, but have you seen the version that Andre Antunes did in the style of Muse?
I have not, but I hear it’s amazing! :)
Pete uploaded a new video... Today is a good day
Haha, thanks! :)
What tuning did you use? G#?
Yep, it's in G# Standard which is tricky to keep in tune on a 25.5 inch scale length 7 string haha :)
Original doomsoundtrack has refference to mop btw
It's amazing, what decently programmed drums can do to a song.
Haha, I’ll take that as a compliment! :)
@@peteplaysmusic More of a punt at Lars. Kudos though, great interpretation of the original^^
Now imagine having Alex Terrible doing vocals over this...
Sorry man… He already done with “master…” song… czcams.com/video/mJU8HS4FRsI/video.html
It'd be terrible.
Now I really want Mick Gordon to cover master of puppets like full production and everything
If anyone knows songs that have this type of Master of puppets downtuned riff, LET US KNOW
Alex Terrible did a deathcore cover of the song a while back
Amazing
Thanks! :)
Needs death metal vocals now pete 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼
Definitely sounds like something out of Doom
I Doomified Metallica haha :)
🤘nice
Thanks! :)
Very interesting composition! I won't compare it to the original it's just very good hahaha
Thanks! :)
This is black hole dense heavy and I like it
Crossing the Event Horizon now! :)
Now this is some demon killing music
Slipknotallica in the verse. Nice!
Imagine Harvester of fucking Sorrow Doomified. The planet would explode
Haha that would sound HEAVY! :)
Fuck yeah!!
Yes you can 🤘😎🤘
What if all Master of Puppets album were wrote like Mick Gordon's Doom stiyle? Pete, please take this challenge :D
Haha, that’s a lot of work. Not sure I can do an entire album but maybe I’ll revisit this idea with a Medley or something? :)
Hey what is this tuned to?
This is in G# Standard, basically as ol as I could go on the guitar haha :)
Mastermind of Puppets.
I dig it
Thanks! :)
that time when slipknot covered Metallica songs. lol this is awesome
Two things:
1. All the comments saying this sounds like Mick Gordon are correct!
2. Modern metal bands only WISH they could come up with anything remotely memorable or good like the OG riff.
Doom meets Master of puppets :D ... i think original is great, but with Your drums could be awesome :) there is not much i like to change on that legendary album... and yes - Orion is the masterpiece forever! B) ... what bout try it Your way? whole song... it could be nice challenge :P cheers! \m/
Now do the breakdown in damage inc 👍🏻
Haha, that’s one of my favourite riffs ever. That would sound cool :)
@@peteplaysmusic Dooo ittt :p (And yes, also one of my favourite riffs!)
Master of rip and tear
The Doomified version :)
If only Papa Het could put some drop Z vocals over this…
That would be weird but also amazing haha! :)
Went from master of puppets to god of puppets real fast
Soundtrack for the next Doom game just do the whole album and no one will notice 😘
Yes sir. Yes it most certainly did. 😈
That guitar is stonking
Now get Tatiana Shmayluk from Jinjer to lay down the vocals!
I think, modern metal would not use any straight palm muted 8th notes, especially not downpicked. Or at least im not familiar with modern bands that downpick
I love when youtubers think ppl leave their overlay video ads on. The pointing at nothing is funny.
Haha, technically when I filmed it I was pointing at nothing :)
I think it did lol Awsome
Thanks! :)
Master of puppets cover by Slaughter to Prevail
Please do for whom the bell tolls
That could be cool! :)
You have to find good vocalist and record an album of heavier metallica!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
At Doom's Gate 2022
Master of Puppets if Messhuggah play it instead?
It sounds like downtuned St. Anger guitars lol
If mick Gordon made master of puppets for doom eternal
Doomified
DJENTING PUPPETZ
If you want to doomify a track you need to put some heavy synth under the guitarwork and go hard with a mix of natural and electronic drums, not to mention thick ambience. There's a dude on youtube who literally made a channel out of doomifying music, can't recall the name.
I think I’ve seen his channel, I’d love to Collab with him sometime :)
@@peteplaysmusic You really need to try yourself in synths and other electronic stuff, it's hella fun. I mean, going with guitars only is cool and all but after like 14 years of it I got really bored haha
Geoff plays guitar?
Ride the train while its moving eh, lol. Nice take though man.
Haha, thanks! It’s pretty cool seeing so much Puppets content since the show :)
Nice as always. But i think regular version sounds better (with good sound mastering i mean, like Trivium cover). Maybe thrash metal songs are just bad for downtunning in general. You done great job anyway.
Thanks! :)
You can't really thrash with a messy / bassy sound on guitar, that's why
Master of Djent Puppets
It might be more chunky tonally speaking, but I'd argue that it feels a bit lifeless. Cool idea though.
Master of doom eternal
Slayer of Puppets
Doom-slayer of Puppets! :)
Joyofthedizzy
If MoP was on Doom lmao
The Doomified version :)
I think anything under drop D takes away the punchy feel of 80s Metallica riffs
Sounds a lot like Slipknot too
