It's actually extremely boring doing it beyond the like, 5th time. Even more boring drying them off sweat and then rolling them back up. Worst is when you have to wash them.

This isn't even close to how we used to wrap in the 2000s. It started at the wrist and basically was a support at the wrist that pulled the hand towards the wrist and kept the finger bones tied together. There wasn't any wraps between the fingers, just gauze under the wrap. I was muay thai and 4-6oz mma gloves, so maybe this is why it was different?
@DGRIFF I like wrapping from the thumb over the back of the hand because then when you make a fist it stays tight. Wrapping between the fingers just stops your knuckles from being able to move side to side which can prevent breaks
If the band Is already compressed then It would not absorb any force on the hand but also putting less force on the punch, so it depends on the fighter dont you think?

That's because boxing used to be basically only bare knuckle and boxers wouldn't aim for the head because punching the skull with just fists hurt their fists more than they person they were fighting's skull since they used to not wear wraps when bare knuckle boxing, thus also not needing to defend the head

This one took a few weeks of thinking about it off and on just to decide what to do or whether to use it at all. When I sat down with it, the script took an hour or so writing, rewriting, watching the video, rewording and describing it as well as I can and the voiceover took a few hours to get right too. And I probably spent a half hour looking for the music and testing different tracks and getting the captions working right is it's own problem you learn through tons of trial and error. It's definitely work, which is why you don't see a lot of channels doing it and even fewer doing it well. I made this one to try out "evergreen content" because I used a gift wrapping tutorial with like 400 million views (present for my wife) and tried to think about ways I could do that with content relevant to this channel. And it's crazy to me that it blew up like this. It had like 2000 views until 4 days ago. It's over 4 million now. CZcams is so weird sometimes.
I use to box in Texas didn’t know it was the Mexican way. I asked asked my coach why he wrapped it that way and he said “ So you don’t break you hand stupid.” Joke was on him I still broke my hand

I already wrapped my fist one time the same way and I have never once seen someone out to wrap a fist. I just know that if you’re gonna wrap your fist, you need to keep your fingers and knuckles safe so that’s what wrapping is all about it just to keep it safe from the impact.
Thai boxing isn't too different. The only differences are that we don't wrap the index finger and only wrap the thumb after 3 or so times around the wrist
I'm a Thai boxer, there's no set way to wrap hands, I use tony Jeffries variation, (olympic boxer) no reason to do it differently to boxers if you're doing the same thing as them
In thai boxing and boxing you can choose how you wrap your wrists in training. And different organizations have different rules on how to wrap the hands for competition if any

This is how my dad taught me how To bandage my sprained wrists (it happened a lot) The only difference really is the knuckle padding, instead of that I'd wrap it around my palms or my up my arm, depending on which hurt worse
Fun fact, armor tricks something inside our brains. Wearing gloves helps remove some of the subconscious limit we place on our strikes. You can test this yourself, just throw on a heavy work glove and punch something. Now take the glove off and try, unless your fucking crazy you should notice right away how much easier it seems to be with the glove. This goes for most of your body, and even masks in another sense. I wasn't allowed hand wraps as a pre teen because I kept busting my wrists up. I have dainty little feminine wrists and medium large hands. Terrible combo for sprains. Idk if that was intelligent but it stopped me from fuckin up my wrists.

I remember the 1st time I had my hands taped by a pro. It's so crazy how much confidence it gives you and how much harder you can throw a punch without worry of breaking your hand.
it DOES NOT matter what style or method you use as long as it covers the metacarpals, the knuckles and the wrists. I personally use the 444 method, 4 times on the wrists, 4 times on the knuckles, and 4 on the fingers. Don’t wrap too right or too loose and you’ll be fine. You don’t need the padding, that’s what your gloves are for.
Every trainer have their own traditional ways. I came in with those regular one roll with Velcro and my coach threw them away lol. We used le Roy Mexican gauze. 2 rolls on each hand to be precise. First roll we use for the knuckles basically folded then set on the knuckles then the second roll we use it to hold it down and from there we do the basic traditional hand wrap .Anybody getting into boxing or already training. I recommend getting some. Way more flexible and much more comfortable than the basic wraps. Easier on the knuckles too. Only downside ( depending on how often u train) you’ll probably go through them quicker than the basic ones but worth is if u ask me
I’ve always loved wrapping with 180s more than 120s for this reason. Layering on wrists or knuckles is all personal choice but the way this wrapping style is, it’s beautiful especially with that space in the palm. Perfect 👌🏽👌🏽

I boxed as a teen, this feels amazing, i had weak wrists and this always made me feel safe. I didn't have to worry about hitting "too hard'

@gregoryv8026 i dislocated my right thumb and it took about 2 weeks to heal and I didn't go to a doctor so now the bone is kinda out of its place but it doesn't hurt 😔
