    Thanks Marcus, a very interesting vlog, we have been to the castle a couple of times, didn't know much of it's history though.

    Excellent video, I really enjoyed that. What a beautiful place.
    It would be nice to make a longer video and talk a lot more about the history, the lives, of the people that lived there throughout time.
    Respect and love!

    Fair old walk that. It is a fortified manor house. As to the storms they have destroyed my greenhouse, The storms appear to be more regular. Good vid.

      Thanks for watching. Apparently, according to the Met Office, we aren't having more storms, although 3 in a week was definitely enough for me.

    I don’t care for ghost stores but I do like history. Like you I wonder how it was built and who built it.

    Hi Marcus, have you thought of setting up your own production company and try contacting the local tourist board and councils to produce a series of informative walks video. This would help promote these local areas. I could imagine following one of these walks and upon arrival at my destination, a QR code that would link to a video, so one could follow as you walk around. Not sure if this is what you had in mind but it might be worth investigating. Great stuff as ever.

      I have talked to a couple of tourist authorities at travel conferences pre-pandemic. Unfortunately, they are not that receptive (one of the worst is Visit Wales itself, they really want the young travellers and fairy light approach). The local agencies don't have any money or no money to maintain anything. Anyway, I am in the process of setting up a second channel which will be just the walks and showing the exact route etc and links to a map.

    Hi, my Dad's 2nd Greatgrandparents worked at Candleston Castle. You said the place was deserted in 1808 or 1809? I have a record of them living there in 1853. Its listed as their abode. Any thoughts? Also, 4 bodies that washed up on the shore in the 1850s, no wonder it's haunted! 😅

      The owner of the Merthyr Mawr Estate left the building and moved to his new house. Other people, staff, farms hands could have remained in the house as it slowly fell into disrepair.

    Imagine a bunch of kids in bad knitwear walking inside the fortified manor house and suddenly, you come out of the toilet dressed as you are, but covered by a 100% pure wool brown hooded robe, a bit dirty and covered with fleas. A bit of a shock?

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  Před 2 lety

      Covered with fleas, you know me too well. I was once one of the those kids in bad knitwear. My grandmother used to knit us stuff and it was really itchy to wear!!!
