I really wish they’d make a 7.5” to 8” version of each of these to make them a great size for EDC. I get this size will work great with gloves in field work, but I think there is a whole other market for them!!

I also was thinking of getting the WorkSharp Rolling Sharpener, but Neeves instilled in me that that really is best just for kitchen knives, so I've been thinking of getting WS' Jig since its cheaper and looks it might make a little less nervous than the KME, which makes me fear that it might topple over onto my arm or chest. 🙃
Granted, I've also stropped on a Hutsuls paddle, so I probably could sharpen free hand, but I would prefer the precision of a jig to actuallly using a whetstone. 😅

The Custom version of this is super cool. I watched the back story of the Customs and it's awesome. Tony partnered w/ I forget his name but it was really cool.
I bought the Diamondwash Carbon Fiber DLC version , my first MF Custom and because i had a 15% coupon i couldnt resist when i saw this thing and i bought it. Still by far the most expensive Knife that i ever had,, but i love it ....^^
Hey Complex. Let’s see, a manual Stitch for 300.00 or a Benchmade Narrows for 522.00. Which will I buy??? I know the Stitch isn’t a ti frame lock. But really? Just my thoughts.
I just picked up a fluted green Amphibian to match my Stitch. Still looking for a green MSI to complete the collection. I really do love these new ram lock knives, they are big beefy and really fill out the hand nicely, and the locking mechanism is buttery smooth.
My MSI is the sharpest factory edge that I have ever had. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right.

I dont know what they are bringing that M390MK to, but I will sat I have cut up a lot of boxes with my MSI and the edge still feels like it did put of the box.

I think the Amphibian has replaced the Stitch as my favorite ramlok. The ergos are so good and the recurve is gorgeous.

I just got the OD green in Apocalyptic stone wash, waiting on the black one… they are very NICE!
You need to check out the T6 aluminum handle version... It gives the knife a bit more balance and has a sturdier feel IMO
I just picked up a fluted g10 apocalyptic stitch ram lok. I have a stitch auto in black tactical and apocalyptic as well fav microtech blade shape. need a amphibian next
MC have you got a chance to handle the benchmade mini adamas in magnacut? I got one and i was very impressed. It was actually flawless and i couldnt believe it. The grind, the alignment the lock up, the action. Fit and finish.. everything was as it should be. Either benchmade is stepping up their game or i got super lucky.
I am starting to like the semi-recurve style. If I may call it that.

On one of his interviews on CZcams this year, Tony Marfione said the main difference between M390 and M390MK was to make it easier to polish.
He also mentioned that he's now buying steel directly from Bohler so hopefully that will stop the ferris wheel of different steels on everything except for special runs.
I got the carbon fiber black dlc amphibian, it’s a killer knife!
I want an amphibian and an MSI.
I picked up a couple of these from knifecenter and they both have lockstick. Never seen this on a crossbar style lock before. One of them locks up really bad. One has improved with a bit of Nano oil and some break in. I have never seen anything like this.
Wish that thumb stud deal didn’t protrude past the sharpening choil

And this is why everyone making edc knives should just switch over to magnacut and then you wont have to worry about it.
Magnacut is probably the best steel out there, but it would turn a 300 dollar knife into a 500 dollar knife at this point, because its so expensive to produce. There's a supply chain shortage affecting everything. 300 is a good price for the amphibian, its a beautiful blade.
@marcrhodes3382 yes it would be expensive at first but as the market equalized and magnacut saturated the market prices would go down. And also hey a guy can wish right? 😆
You’re in luck. Spyderco just did a reveal and they’ve gone magnacut crazy lol Para 3 LW, Manix LW, and PM2 are all announced. Probably more to follow
I'm not sure it's really available outside the US from the metal factory that makes it so that's just one big reason why the market isn't saturated I'm sure. If the Chinese had even limited access to Magnacut you can bet the market would indeed become saturated with many updated versions of all the Chinese midtech high end low cost knives in CPM Magnacut.

Was lucky enough to get a tan one a few weeks ago on a drop. IMO, the action on these is superior to the other Ram loks. Easier to deploy and slams shut.
I hope these become easier to get the amphibian is a nice looking knife

the amphibian is the best ram lok in my opinion..... i got one of the first production releases.... and i like it even more than my msi or stictch
I just picked up a Ritter Hogue mainly cause of your recommendation and while it’s a nicely made knife, I just don’t think the type of action these Axis type locks accomplish is for me. Seems weak and mushy compared to the detent of a well tuned frame or liner lock

How well does the Ramlock hold up?
I’m curious how often it needs replacing, if at all?
I’m always a little hesitant with Microtech due to their QR issues I’ve experienced.
The ram lock is pretty simple from what i understand, similar to the spyderco ball bearing lock. It uses a simple coil spring so i cant imagine it needing much maintenance

You should get the CKRT Wu tool to take apart your knives. It much better than the old crappy one you use.
I hate "premium" steel. I hadn't chipped a knife in 30yrs. Now I have 5 knives that are chipped.
Then I bought a bunch of cool new knives. They are all so sensitive to the lightest shock or contact with anything remotely hard.
How about some 80crv2? That would be nice.

Hard use tanks using brittle steel is questionable. 3V or Magnacut would be great for this
I think I heard from X-Ring in a YT vid that the HRC on Microtech knives is 58-60
Which is unfortunate because it's still too low imo. Wish they at least hit it the same everyone else does which is 59-61

Hardware might be Aluminum... Microtech has been getting away with using Aluminum and still charging more for it than other brands Titanium for as long as i can remember... Given MT track record also of sending out poorly sharpened knives, i have to wonder if theres a correlation there to the choice of using a "specialized" M390. Looks very cool. The milling and the stepped thumb stud is very unique.
Because of you, I bought the Stitch (when it was auto only). Man, the Amphibian looks super cool. As soon as I get done paying off the RAM-LOK Stitch, I'll set my sights on this one - if I can find it in stock anywhere!

i totally agree! benchmade is not even in the same league as microtech. which knife company is??
204p is fine, never chipped m390. But they're a btch to sharpen. Because theyre so abrasion resistant, and lets be honestly microtech uses very high angles, its so easy to wreck the the edge angle, and either dull it or just not sharpen it. Have to strop judiciously, even overly stropping dulls them. I wish they had a lower angle, and used s45vn. That steel holds an edge a long time, and is easy to sharpen. Probably saves some manufacturing cost as well.
