"What's wrong with this?"
Me: uhhhhhh
(side note, you mentioned this one time on a Talking Heads like over a year ago and I started getting people I know to pour...more aggressively.)
Knowing the beer was going to overflow, I didn't want to waste a good craft beer. 😄
That's a good justification lmao
I’m an amateur beer drinking scumbag and this was amazingly informative. Thank you
Oh no problem. Glad you enjoyed the video
I'm also a scumbag? Lol
@@nopenothing761 just me, unless you want to join the club
Been feeling bloated lately when drinking and usually go straight from the can. Tried this a few times and I’m happy to report it is a game changer 🙏🏽🍻. Much easier on the stomach and goes down easier lol 😂🤙🏽.
awesome!
Had to watch the video several times times to get how you changed the tilt of the glass and pour, but I think this was really informative. This is something people need to see to understand. Thank You!
No Problem, people usually have those "Perfect Pour" videos but dont explain why a good pour is important.
I've been gently pouring for far too long! thanks for teaching me!
Any time!
You’re the real MVP. Thank you sir.
@@Jack0fAllTrades thank you
Nice video, quick & informative! The visual proves your point beautifully. I almost left an angry comment when you said "a cup" on your first pour, but you corrected yourself on the second one. ;)
Great. Now, it's 1:15am and I'm getting thirsty.
That's called bad timing Bro!
Occasionally you find a beer which pours well onto the floor or down the sink - Disconcerting when you get down to the bottom of the can and notice mold/ growth stuck inside of it.
Great demo by the way - I didn't know that much CO2 was released - that may explain why some people get bloated more by beer than others - by the way they not only they pour into a glass but into their mouths and down the throat...
It also depends on how fast you drink your beer. In my videos I drink a beer "relatively fast" in comparison to how I would normally. But I know a lot of domestic drinkers who just chug beers down within 10min on a day to day basis.
@@HopsAndBrews A dozen beers in 10 minutes sounds like an Aundre the Giant effort lol.
I never knew this. Normally I just drink mine right from the bottle or can. Will have to try this method this weekend!
Try it out, I still drink from a can and bottle. But it's still cool science.
I always try to use a flared out pint glass, but today, I am using my beer stein that is tapered inwards, and the gas is not leaving as fast.
Love it man. Always wondered why I felt worse slamming cans.
Geat and informative video.
Suggestion fo your next video: The dIfferent types of beer-glass.
I thought of that. I might just do that. Thanks
If you have a can leave them in the fridge upside down, when you go to grab it you'll get the same effect without it over flowing. I've been doing that for a bit now seems to work
interesting, ill try that. Are you pouring them into a glass or just drinking them from the can?
@@HopsAndBrews I do both, ill agree still better from a glass but I find I get the same effect from doing that. I find it's just a plus pouring from a can to a glass that way, definitely try maybe it's just a placebo effect from doing it so often now.
@@Sourkeyz yea I will try it
I hate to admit this but my brother has always said this and I reluctantly had to agree with him. Your/Wee Wamseys pour style makes all the difference. Esp true of NEIPAs these days.
Yeah beers are more complex than they use to be 15yrs ago when you could just pour them into a glass and be fine. Now if you have X beer you have to pour slow, if you have Y you need to pour at extremely aggressive
I've been doing this wrong 😂 thank you for the video!
Newer to beer so this might sound crazy….but what about bottles?
Carbonation is Carbonation. All the same, pour beer into a glass, you will feel less bloated. However if you just take a few decent sips and than agitate the beer in a car or bottle that does the same thing
🤯 that explains everything! CZcams recommended me this video. I haven’t scrolled through your other videos but Quick question why is it that beer enthusiast always get excited about the head being2 or three fingers? Cheers 🥃🍺
You know I dont know either, bc a lot of them act like it's the beer and not them causing is. No it actually could be a number of things giving you that head. Dirty Glass, To agressive of a pour, got shook, half the time they only pour half a glass anyways.
But a finger and half is usually where you want to be for a Ale, Lagers can be more.
It helps seal the flavor in and ever pop of the bubbles releases aromas.
🍻Cheers
@Hops And Brews, what about tap beer? I don't think bartenders use that method when serving a fresh beer, does that mean there is less carbonation in tap beer?
if the tap line has the correct c02 pressure and is pour correctly (45 degree, tilt up at the end) you should be fine. If they pressure is to low, than Yes if the keg is a fresh tapped keg and the pressure is low this will happen.
@@HopsAndBrews Pretty much all of the bar I went to just pour from the tap straight down into the glass.
@@malbeth8700 What a travesty. That just flattens out the beer and gives you what I like to call hop-malt tea. DISGUSTING!
So I just tried this both ways oh my gosh thank you taste so much better
Hey thanks for the comment ! That's awesome
When I was younger I drank beer from the can or bottle and it always hurt my stomach/gut, I thought it was the beer that did that. Later I got into home brewing and kegging beer, and figured out it was the co2.
Yeah I find different breweries that carbonate the beer too much I can't drink a lot of any more. Younger years I could drink whatever
@@HopsAndBrews try only drinking beer from a glass
@@kevinfidler8074Same thing happens, I believe.
@andriealinsangao613 Ididn't explain what I meant very well. After having beer on tap, where I'm not drinking the carbonation, I found it doesn't hurt my stomach/gut. Where as back when I drank beer out of a can or bottle, it did upset my stomach.
@@kevinfidler8074 Hmm, I wonder why? Different levels of carbonation in a tap vs. a bottle/glass or something?
Using such a classy beer as well. It used to be dirt cheap until Mellinials started hoarding it up.
What about the beers that DEMAND you drink it out of the can, like Guinness or Murphy's?
Guinness says to pour it to activate the nitro. Also I did a video on Alcomist
PBR is a really good beer at a really good price. Don't listen to people who "think" they know what a good beer is.
What I like about PBR is that its a Pilsner and not a Lager. However its price now is higher than it use to be 20yrs ago when all the PBR jokes where made.
Always into a glass. I am not a heathen.😱
Cheers to that good sir
Great video man! Unbelievable pour. I just did this test at home and I'll say you have way better results. Cheers!
So now we know; and knowing's half the battle!!
YOOOO JOE!!!
what about drinking directly from the bottle?
Not releasing any cabination. Same issue
@@HopsAndBrews okay that's for the reply ♥️
Are you David Spades cousin? But for real thanks for the tips man! the more you know!
Amen!!
Did you just say tasty and good on a PBR?
I'm not going to waist good beer when I know its going to spill, and yes compared to Bud Light, I think PBR is good
Awesome demonstration Jon, thanks!
My pleasure!
Great info!!
Thanks.
Great video. Now I know, because knowledge is power!
And Knowing Is Half The Battle....Yo Joe!
How'd you learn the paper towel trick im so intrigued KEKW
I actually learned it from a beer sommelier
Amazing learnt something
Glad to hear that
I kinda like to belch like Barney on the Simpsons.
Cheers 🍻🍻🍻Munich

🍻Cheers
A burp or 3 helps too
The point is to not burp 😋
So.... that means the beer left in the can is no bueno? 🤷🏽♂️
No the beer left in the can is fine. Really all this is, is doing this releases the co2 from the beer that was just for keeping it sealed, not carbonated. That extra gives you a much more bloaty feeling. So if you can agitate the beer in any way that releases the co2 then you are fine. But also having a beer in a glass is "technically" better experience. But really to each their own
@@HopsAndBrews dude thanks for sharing.
Very insightful, thank you! Next time, please use a better beer instead of Blue Ribbon.. LOL
I used PBR bc I knew it was going to spill 😅🤣😂
Nothing wrong with Pabst. It’s a quality macro aal
Hey brother, can you talk about the different glass ware? It is quite expensive, i bought a stout glass from left hand nitro, as i love their milk stout. But I found TULIP shaped glasses at my dollar tree, and so far, i think the tulip from the dollar tree is better. What is important when it comes to glass ware? and why does some cost so much?
Yeah I think I can come up with some kind of glassware video.
@@HopsAndBrews it would be greatly appreciated. I starred at these cheap tulip glasses and when cleaned well I just dont know why I should spend more. Thank you for your time!
When I drink in the bottle, I'm shaking it with my thumb on the opening of the bottle and slowly releasing the gas.
That's one way to have a party
I like to just be a Neanderthal and drink the beer out the can😅
Ahahaha that's fine
What’s the difference between this and a flat beer?
Well a flat beer wouldn't have any carbonation so ...no this is all about carbonation. But a flat beer doesn't taste as good
Does this also applies to draft root beer and sodas too?
No only beer
@@HopsAndBrews oh ok.. I asked because some root beer brands (ie spretcher's) have the same kind of foam too.
@@MarkSamurai5 no this is a Bavarian monks beer diet made for Lent.
What about cider? The same?
You know I haven't tried it with a cider, I would think the same bc you want to break up the co2. but I guess it would also depend on how carbonated the cider is.
Love from india. Try some indian beers 😁
I will see if I can find some.
@@HopsAndBrews You will definitely get views and love from the indian audience also make videos on the basics of beer and types how they made?
Thanks 😊
@@logan3448 I'll try and come up with some. Thanks
That’s no aggressive enough… you want gas out of it . Pour it quickly!!
more....More... MORE!!!!!
🤤
I just, I just can’t take the guy with that beard seriously
Beard?
