The Nonik glass was originally design with the bump to prevent chipping, thus no-nik (since it doesn't nick). A tumbler falling on it's side can easily chip at the edge and the bump prevents that.

Lol cause you have the grill pattern on the table in front of you, for the first 5 minutes I thought you were both wearing fishnet stockings. Nothing wrong with that of course but I chuckled when I realised my error. 😂 Good content by the way. Cheers 🍻

    Hmmm,
Shaker - designated driver glass, soda only
also would serve a heavy stout and some porters in this just because it's pretty much all flavor
1st glass - pilsners, whit bier, anything light, crisp and low aromatic
2nd glass - ambers, browns, esb's, maybe even a pale ale, more flavor than aroma
3rd glass - brandy, belgian double or triple, possibly an IPA in a pinch, good balance between flavor and aroma, the odd porter or stout works here too.
4th glass - scotch, whiskey, bourbon, would never imagine a beer in this.
5th glass - pretty much what I go for with an IPA [my wheelhouse] (my go to is a duval and they are really hard to find now)

3:04 Not really (however fancy it might sound), but it is really great for making a sturdier glass, preventing nicking...NO-NICK.

In the UK they usually have the lip of the glass as a pint. Fill to the brim by over-flowing the head. What a waste.. but I do feel ripped off if I don't get liquid to the brim of a glass, like in eueope! But we dont get cheap beer like Europe. £5/pint.

so....is it a scrilege to drink a Guiness in a pilsner glass and every other beer in a mason jar? works for me.

  • @AndrewSmithThomas

If you can, get over to Belgium. Seems like each brewery has its own glass design. Most are variants on a theme, but you get some unique ones like the Kwak glass.

That English pint glass isn't that traditional, I'm pretty sure they started appearing around the 80s, when everyone was drinking lager, and the bump was there to make them easier to hold onto while completely shitfaced on a Friday night. Before that ale was drunk out of chunky mugs, often glass with big dimples in. Regulars at the pub would often have their own mug behind the bar.

What type of beer do I use for a nucleated Teku glass? I've used it for pale hoppy beers thinking I can get more of a hop slap in the nose. All I get is increased sulfur smell that is otherwise super tame in a regular shaker glass.

Omg guys it's a No Nick glass. Hence the bump, so the rim doesn't get nicked. The glass was invented in the US for the soda fountain business, then embraced by the Brits. Get your stuff together guys! Cheers
