I know for many parents it isn't easy when many times we only see "perfect" online, so sometimes we just need to take a moment and enjoy the small victories!

For us, it was definitely the character of our kids that defined the potty process (girls only, so no experience with boys).
With our first, from age 2, I periodically tried if she wanted to use the potty but she fought it so much. She is the type of kid who will sit in a corner and observe others and only will start something herself when she thinks she knows what she is doing. And that's exactly what she did with potty learning. Shortly after her 3rd birthday, she just started going pee in the potty - completely without us trying to initiate it. And from that day she never peed in a diaper again. Also never had any accidents 🤷‍♀️ she kept refusing to poop in the potty though - and I tried everything I've ever read to get her to go. At age 4, I bribed her with a new princess dress when she decides to start going poop in the potty and she started that same day and threw away her remaining diapers - again never had an accident since then. She's just a kid who needs to decide for herself and will get frustrated with trying and practicing. So she waits until she wants to. Very frustrating while she is refusing, but once she starts, very easy as a parent.
Our second is an enormous copycat 😂 so with 15 months while I tried to encourage our first to go potty, she just decided to want to pee in the potty. She immediately was successful and for a while went when she wanted to. From around 18 months, she started going all the time except at night. But she had accidents here and there. Didn't bother her much, she was happy just going like we do.
They both were completely unimpressed by anything we suggested though 😂 they're both the type of kid to want to do everything all by themselves.
So I definitely agree with you - the difference of how kids learn to go potty can be so enormous.

We still have trouble sometimes with my 2 year old daughter. So far we found the best is to let her brush first then say it’s our turn and usually that works but some days it still fails. We also started reading a book about sugar bugs to help her understand the importance of it. My son give or take was the same and the book helped the most with him when he was younger.
