@@MrC00kieM0nst3r if youre talking about the men, they were all from the slums and mostly hungry immigrants and workers who likely knew a thing or two about fighting, if youre talking about the battalion this is (as I really hope you know) based off a real battalion whos name I cant remember. They were here because they were the only force in the area to actually advance to their objective. The french on one side failed their assault and retreated and I believe the americans on the other side couldnt break through either. This movie constantly shows poor decisions on the american generals part and especially poor artillery fire considering they take quite a few shells themselves. This movie isnt showing bullshit American pride (Im an american) its showing legitimate baddasses who fought off the germans against all odds and not only became a thorn i the side of the germans but also allowed the allied forces to punch through to their position and continue the advance.
The directors could’ve atleast had the Germans fight more authentically, the stale generic charge the Germans executed allows for us to portray the American actors as heroes but if the Germans were shown as having a tactical advantage and superior logistics, it would make the American stand even more glorious. All in all, it makes it look like America got an easy victory in this little skirmish. Look at SPR, Miller and his squad landed on an exposed beachhead and had to traverse 100 or so yards of open ground under a swathe of machine gun and artillery fire. Where they eventually scale the bluff and clear out the trenches it emphasizes the losts they sustained and makes the capture seem even more worthy. Since we the audience know the Germans had the superior position and firepower(at least on the beachhead itself). If you can reply can you please tell me what type German soldiers the ‘Lost Battalion’ faced. I feel like they area Pionier Regument judging by their flamethrower and static fighting positions.
@@dustypluskrat7423 Believe it or not, most of the German military at this point was made up teenagers between 15-18 with at most 3 weeks of training. They still had some experienced men out on the field, but far and few left. It was the same way nearing the end of ww2 as well for Germany. Look at it this way too. All European countries were tired at this point from fighting. When the US came, it brought in a much needed morale boost for France and Britain and something Germany didn't want to happen. At the end of it all, the battalion held there ground. They were ordered to before communications were cut. It's quite hard to convince someone to stop fighting when they feel like they can win it

Ansett Lee, A clip is used to load a magazine. The magazine is inserted into the magazine well of the pistol. The pistol is then loaded from the magazine.
I can see it being possible if there was already a round chambered when the magazine was loaded thereby giving him 9 rounds instead of 8. But to be honest, this was a historical drama shadowed by Band of Brothers and therefore probably didn't have the budget to get everything accurate. In fact the part where one man says "bastards! You bastards!" was used once before when the lost battalion was accidentally shelled by their own artillery.
He's laughing because the American troops, who are considered just fresh recruits, have beaten the elite Stormtroopers. Troops who have been fighting the war since 1914.
A nice detail about this film is that instead of using Springfields their using 1917 enfields which were actually more common.
