  • On June 17, 2022 we ventured out to the Texas State Railroad in Palestine and Rusk, Texas. The railroad was scheduled to operate Tremont and Gulf steam locomotive no. 30 but no. 30 was broken down so the substitute was the railroad’s newly restored FP9A no. 126. 126 was built in 1958 by the Electro-Motive Division for the Canadian National Railway originally numbered as 6533. In the mid 2010s the Texas State Railroad bought no. 126 and her twin sister no. 125. 125 was restored first in 2018 and 126 was restored in May 2022. Both 125 and 126 have the bright red, yellow, and silver paint scheme to remember the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT)’s famous “The Texas Special” paint scheme. We had fun chasing the newly restored F unit through the Piney Woods of East Texas. We hope y’all enjoy and Happy Father’s Day!
