I've never had luck with GBTA either. I've kept rainbows and roses with no problems. I've been told that greens are typically a deep-water specimen which might have something to so with the difficulty but who knows. I will say that they have a much more powerful sting than my rainbows.
That's super interesting and makes good sense. I'd never heard that before. That makes some sense being a different color because they are adapted to a different level of light. I'm not going to worry about them, that's for sure. But I think I might wait until either they die or start to thrive before adding any more rbta's into the mix. Famous last words from me I'm sure! Good to see all the progress👍 Since you are going ahead with the same tank, you may still want to consider reinforcing the chipped area with a small piece of 6mmglass. May not be the most aesthetic option but will take away some of the nightmares. Great content, keep it going... Cheers😊👍
Yeah, reinforcing would definitely be a good idea. Just a small piece of glass on the inside siliconed into the place. Any idea where I could get a small piece of glass cut for me? I've never had that done before! Thanks for the comment and suggestion!

Where I used to live in NJ was one which is still in existence now but the son is running it now & he's in late 70's. Then again is 6mm necessary... can you go different size?

I am so over green nems myself. They are always closed up, expelling waste or just melting into goo. I just got to the point to buy the rainbows and others, pay the extra and my nems are all super happy. Great video and that pluming was on point, great job.
Oh man, you have more cahoonas than I do using the chipped tank! lol. This will be a cool build for sure, definitely following! I have ran a chiller myself and wow they can put off some heat, I had to keep it outside of the cabinet area. An idea, you can get a couple of those cabinet fans used in entertainment systems (I use one to cool down my BioCube) works great and you can install one on one side pulling air in and the other on the opposite side pulling air out.
Yeah, I think you're exactly right about the fans. Those cabinet fans are a great idea. I'm going to have to measure the stand and figure out which one will work best, but I think that's the way to go for sure. For now I'm going to have to leave one of the cabinet doors open to help with the heat, but obviously that is not a long term solution!
Regarding the green and rose bubble tip anemones, have you noticed that the green ones get nice again if you change the carbon or do a water change? When I had the rose and green bubble tips in the same tank I noticed my green ones weren't as good. They got better when I changed to new carbon or did a water change. I think it's due to chemical warfare even though they are the same bubble tip anemone family. Just a thought
You know, I haven't noticed, but I have also stopped running carbon about a couple months ago when it didn't seem to help. And you are right, even though they are the same species, there could be certain variations within the species that creates warfare. But, I've also heard a lot of other stories that other people have had trouble with their green nems. Could have something to do with the gbta natural habitat being deeper or slightly different than the usual hobbyist created habitat. At this point though, I'm not going to experiment anymore as long as the rbta's are thriving. They look great so I don't want to mess around with anything!

Great question, and there is no one reason. I've previously used the RO pump and still use the Varios 2 in my 40 gallon breeder, and it works perfectly, I enjoy the controller, and it's silent. And I believe it's quite a bit cheaper. I really like Ecotech products, but I feel like you often have to pay a premium for the name.
Just watch for back pressure on the pump going from 1” -3/4” worth a jubilee clip on the step downs as well as they will be a pressure point. Do you have separate returns from the the UV and chiller?
Yes, I have jubilee clips on all of the connections actually. I'm just concerned about how to prime the pump with water for the first time! And yes, I have to separate returns for the uv and chiller.
I’m thinking you might have glued them already but you could pour water down the returns and then glue the last piece back down into the tank... suppose you could do it at any point though you’d want it as full as you could to limit air going through.
Hi Matthew I have been watching your channel, Marine Depot, and now BRS for the past year and you are awesome. Since I am getting started, I learned a lot from you. I like to add a chiller to my AIO. I have an Innovative Marine Fusion 40. I believe I can get two Sicce SDC 3.0 WIFI Return Pumps facing each other in the back chamber. My question to you is. If one is pushing water out and down to the chiller and back up again. Did you have any issues with the regular return pump causing water levels to be unstable in the sump since they are both fighting for the same water? Or If I go with a closed loop like you did. How did you keep the siphon in the line when you turned off the chiller pump for let’s say maintenance. Did you always need to re-prime the line again?

Yes I would. I actually really do like it, even though it's not perfect. The glass itself is super clear with great beveled edges. I really like the low profile rear overflow down to the sump. I do wish the back weir were glass instead of plastic. The sump being acrylic is a cool bonus, but it's really just a berlin style meant for a protein skimmer. The included skimmer is the best I've ever owned, and the return pump puts out a lot of flow. The stand is super sturdy as well. All in all, a great system. If you want more sump baffles or options, then you would have to do something custom.
I have been thinking of a Seahorse tank for many years think its time I am gonna get after it. But why did you go with an AIO for the SH tank knowing you would need more equipment that would not fit?? you gonna add a HOB skimmer?
Hi Deva. I went with an AIO for a couple reasons. First because it is just more simple overall, even with the addition of a chiller and UV sterilizer. And the second reason was space. I didn't want to keep my chiller outside of the stand, and this way I wouldn't have to. And the equipment fits really well actually, you just have to plumb it! I do have an HOB skimmer on standby from Reef Octopus, but I doubt I'll have to use it since this will be a macroalgae tank. But I have it just in case!

I haven't found luck with 250 mg, so i do 500 mg now. It's a pain in the butt for sure, but it's the only thing that has worked for me.

@@MyFirstFishTank Sounds like a plan! They are really cheap on Amazon too and blow really strong at 2500-3000rpm per fan.

Question! Why did you go with the varios pump over like a vectra m2?

Feed your anemone with shrimp from grocery store! They eat!!! Cut a piece and clip it on a long pole and feed the dang things.
They get fed about twice a week actually!
