2024 Toyota Tacoma Ultimate Buyers Guide | WATCH THIS FIRST

- 👋 It todays review we take a look at the all new 4TH generation Toyota Tacoma!! We have made several videos on this truck already, but this is the first production model we have tested! There is a full review on this exact 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport if you want to see the exact specs!
Todays video is a buyers guide for the all new 2024 Toyota Tacoma! We made a similar video months ago on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad with some different information, but we now have pricing, engine options, transmission options and different packages available and you can go on Toyotas website and start building your 4TH generation Toyota Tacoma now!
There is a lot to cover for this buyers guide on what's available! I have owned two Toyota Tacomas and can't wait to own this all new generation, so this video is helpful for me as well!
The all new Toyota Tacoma has eight different trim levels starting from $31K up to roughly $52K. We still don't have pricing for the trailhunter or TRD PRO model yet or pricing with the hybrid options. From what I have heard, pricing might be around $2-3K more for the hybrid engine.
The Toyota Tacoma has been around since 1995, even earlier with the T100, but as a Tacoma that was the first generation! The Tacoma has had numerous changes since then bringing us to this 2024 model year!
Toyota has decided to ditch the V6 and is now offering two four cylinders. Even the base engine has more power than the outgoing V6 and you can feel it!
The manual is still available with certain model and a brand new eight speed automatic is vastly improved over the six speed which did a lot of gear hunting.
Since this is a "new" truck, we aren't sure about any reliability issues, but being a Toyota, this should give us the reliability Toyota is known for!
Last up, the driving experience is great! Coming from my 3rd generation Tacoma, it really doesn't feel different, but of course the looks are different with the interior design. But you'll feel right at home if you have owned a Tacoma before.
I am super excited to take delivery of mine in the future and can't wait for the adventures to come!

My man under the rain with this.... #respect THANK YOU FOR GIVING U THIS VIDEO!!!
hah yeah! Had to film this when I could!
I have an 05 Highlander with over 200k miles on it. It still runs like the day it was purchased.
Nice to hear!
Hey! I know that road! I bought my Honda from there at Flow Honda, Statesville, haha. Thanks for the review. Looking forward to the new Taco!
Oh very cool! Nice new touch for sure!
I like the rims Its bold
It's a neat package to add on if you like them!
This video is helpful to buy myself the truck.
Glad it was helpful!
this is a beautiful one.
Yeah in all black it looked very nice!
I’m just trying to understand how y’all are getting your hands on them when mine was allocated Feb 22nd. Next day I’m told it’s going to be a 40 to 50 day delay. But yet ppl are enjoying there’s right now…
I don't own this, but there are several dealers getting them in and customers as well. We don't know how long others have waited, but could be the region you are in, etc..
I believe dealers are allocated there’s first witch you can by off the lot.if you custom order it will take longer.
@@xirtam5726 customer vehicles are
already being delivered! There’s no particular order.
Nice 👍
Thanks ✌
Just food for thought! Every company making vehicles out of so many made may have something go wrong, doesn't mean they all are like that! Someone has a problem with their truck they slam the entire company as if they all are like that. Thousands made out of so many may encounter a problem, this is with every thing out there! Either you buy and likely you odds are excellent or you don't. I will take my chances with Toyota!
thank you, bro, Toyota trucks. cost over 55K, waaaaaaaaay overkill, the interest on high score credit. 700 and up, it's 6%. $3000 plus registration fee $2400 and the dealer fee at lease $1500 they call it protection!!!! is toooooo much money for this truck with 4 Cyl not superpower for towing and narrow space on the back seats., also for Tandra, 70k too much for this cost, buy RAM or Seairra 1500, 1.9% interest. so, the main problem after the covid politic of Toyota changed as more pricy and high Interest.
why would they mount the footsteps into the rocker panels?
That’s pretty common for a lot of companies who make those steps. These aren’t functional rock sliders, they are just steel steps.
The price delta between mid-size and half-ton pickups is so small now. The value prob isn’t there for mid-size trucks anymore, unless you wanna fit into more parking spaces, need to park in a small garage or off-road on very technical small trails.
There’s definitely a difference in need. Personally I would never buy a full size, I don’t need it, I like the midsize truck as do so many others. Just depends on what you want..fully loaded midsize or base full size for similar money. A fully loaded full size is going to cost $20K more..
are the seats any better than the previous gen? cloth looks like it wouldn’t provide much comfort in the video.
By far! Very comfortable and fantastic seat adjustments. Great place to be for sure
No. This truck is a downgrade in every category so far.
@@m.687 After driving the 2024 you didn't like any aspect of it?
@@m.687You're blinded by hate and jealousy. Keep driving your old beater 😅
The backseat is more cramped than 3rd gen
Will we see a torture test? I have a 17 TRD Offroad and might trade it in
What torture test?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed to see how reliable the new truck is
@@ekbenny3939 I mean Toyota has been using these engines for decades, so it should be good. Really it’s just a new exterior design.
The updates are with the times. The power train is better HP and torque with 8 speeds despite the turbo factor etc. However, this new 4th gen simply does not look as good as the 3rd Gen IMHO. I had a 2020 TRD off road in quicksand and traded her in for a 2023 magnetic grey metallic TRD off-road with full LEDs and in the bed as well. I will slowly build this one out and hopefully keep it as my forever Truck vehicle! Despite it having leaf springs & drum brakes in the rear she is a keeper and muck better looking! They will become more sought after unicorns as time marches on!
I liked my 3rd gen, but I think the 4th gen looks WAY better!! Glad you are enjoying your truck! I can't wait to own the new one and mod it!
4th gen looks 10x better. No question.
Bruh I have a 2022 trail edition lunar rock. I love the v6 and All but yeah the 24 is a much better truck and looks more in time and more agresive style?.. the only thing I actualy don’t like about the 4th is the tail light lol. Everything else gets a thumbs up 👍🏼
@@noxnyc23 I like it all but I really don’t like the massive shifter. Idk it’s just right in the middle and it’s so big. I think that’s my only nitpick.
i think it’s almost an objective statement to say that the 4th gen looks 1,000x better than the 3rd gen
Dig the truck but not the prices...yet, still waiting to see whats up with the PRO
All the hybrids are coming after summer. But this one did have a lot of options. So there can be nicer spec's for less money. But seems like about $50k is the going rate for any TRD
@@BrosFOURRSpeed That's what I keep waiting for, the hybrid. I hope it will be worth it.
@@hoseman10 Yeah we are excited to drive one and see. It's not much money at least. So we'll see!
Get those Iso seats!
That’s only on the PRO! I have a video coming building one!
Just found out that the 2024 Tacoma doesn’t have a spare tire that is the same type as on the truck. Instead it comes with a convenience spare which is a cheaper tire mounted on a cheap rim not intended for extended use.
I never showed the spare in this video, so how do you figure it’s different?
Don't believe me? Drop the spare and look. On the side wall it has lettering "Convenience tire" and is not the same as the other tires on the truck. When I looked at it I'm glad I stuck with my 2023 Tacoma. A V6 will pull a boat out of the water many more times than a 4 banger if you're doing it 1-2 times a week on a steep ramp.
Oh yeah, I forgot.....even the tread is different******
@@chiisai671 Interesting. I’ll have to take a look next time I film one. However I’ve never needed to use a spare in 18 years of driving. So not too concerned. Plus once you do a lift and bigger wheel. The spare is useless anyways
@BrosFOURRSpeed never said never bro. Subscribe guys good content.
3rd gen all day
The problem is those saving getting a 3rd are adding upgrades making it even better and still saving money that can't really be beat.
Toyota is the best truck you can buy in 2024
Yeah these are pretty sweet!
Yeah, if you can even get one!
@@quantumfx2677 They are on dealer lots!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Yes, but will have to call to find the color and model you want not just whats they have sitting there on their lot!
@@quantumfx2677 Might take a bit. Dealers are just getting a few at a time. So hopefully as Summer gets here more and more are available!
Were the starting prices for 2 or 4 wheel drive?
Any base price will be for 2wd. 4x4 is an option that makes the price go up. But I have spec'd a few TRD Off Roads in the upper $40s with 4x4
Some videos are stating the 2024 Tacoma are priced closer to $50K and this one says the SR5 (which I’m interested in) is only at $36K, it’s hard to tell which is the more accurate price range. Most of these videos are just nitpicking and reeks of entitlement rather than actual data.
They will carry in price depending on options. Check out Toyotas website an configure one with the options you like
Pricey
This one had a lot of options. But you can spec a nice 4x4 under $50k
TFL’s 3000 mile 2024 TRD OR broke something in front wheel drivetrain while normal 4wheelin! That combined with crazy prices is enough for me to put brakes on a purchase. 2023 Colorado had to rescue. Embarrassing Toyota!! Bought my 3rd gen 2016 back in August of 2015 and till now absolutely NO issues other than the recalls.
One vehicle doesn’t mean every one is affected. Off-roading mishaps happen, still crazy to see, but isn’t stopping me from buying one!
nope my 21 never gear hunts
Love this truck but the price hike is ridiculous.
It’s not all that bad especially with what the competitors cost.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed the competitors shouldn't cost that much but people just keep going in debt to rent new vehicles.
@@RyanMiller3039everything is getting expensive in general.
Anyone else notice the malfunction message light on the digital cluster? Says "check engine visit dealer" and "system malfunction visit dealer" right when he's pulling out of the dealer lot.
It was just a reset they had to do, nothing serious.
you will be visiting the dealer a lot with the 4th gen....they are just not tough anymore.over priced pavement queens
@@billw8476 Highly disagree with that..I’ll be buying one and can’t wait.
TFL did a test of a brand new Tacoma on a moderate trail. Front differential and transfer case exploded 1st run on a light crawl.
Yeah, that’s just one truck though. Doesn’t mean every truck will do that…
TFL’s Tacoma broke wheeling
You’ve mentioned that already..one mishap..
🫡
I sat on a Tacoma SR5 yesterday at the Country Hills Toyota in Calgary. I am disappointed with the cheap interior plastic and cheap exterior thin light metal. Toyota’s quality is going down, greedy for profit. I was plan to buy a Tacoma, but not any more.
Honestly Toyota has always had a very plastic interior. It feels like thick plastic tho. But they never really have other materials.
3 generation is king
That’s a good truck as well.
I doubt the 6klbs tow factor but i dont doubt the 10k lbs bro factor 😂
Hu? I’ve towed 6K pounds with my 3rd gen, this could do it…but you also aren’t buying this to tow that much, if you need to tow that much or more often, a full size would be better..
Stay out of snow that is 1 inch deep lest you destroy your 4wd capabilities.
Obviously something happened yeah, but that doesn’t mean it affects every single model..
@@BrosFOURRSpeed just the ones that are for sale
@@billw8476 How do you figure??

Class Action Lawsuit: Over 1 Million Toyota 8-Speed Transmissions

This involves the eight-speed transmission known as UA80, UA80E, and US80F. As a result, a class-action lawsuit has been filed in California. It covers over 1 million Toyota 8-speed transmissions.
The issue has been owners of either 2017 and up Highlanders and 2017 and up Sienna minivans experience harsh or delayed shifting, delayed acceleration, hesitation, jerking, unintended acceleration, lurching, and excessive RPMs before upshift occurs. The plaintiffs claim Toyota actively concealed 8AT automatic transmission defects according to CarComplaints.
Thanks for sharing..
And see what Chevy did by letting rusting & out of line beds go through! That video can be found on YT. Don't think it matters who you go with but hopefully not to common.
History lesson… go back and read the literature about the new Tacoma in 2016. The reviewers couldn’t say enough good things about it. Fast forward a few years and the overwhelming opinion is 2016 until mid year 2018 were the worst Tacomas ever. Take away, don’t buy the first year or two following a major redesign.
I owned a 2017 for 6 years! Zero issues with that vehicles along with thousands of others. So I wouldn’t agree with that.
Don’t pop your 4x4 like TFL did
Obviously something went wrong, but doesn’t mean every truck will so that..
The problem is USA is known to live bigger engines and they like power ...you see simplest engine no electronics is way to go TOYOTA is known for Reliability and if course see yourself why Middle Eastern Countries live it😮
What? Not sure what you are trying to say.
The truck is over priced💰💰💸💸
This one had about $6k worth of options. So you can definitely spec one much better for a more reasonable price
yes, it is way overpriced, but some idiots will still buy them, so toyota won't lower the prices.
@@billw8476 compared to the competition, it’s not overpriced at all.. you must think all midsize trucks are overpriced then. If you don’t want one, that’s fine..
No, everything is overpriced.
@@jpl8085 What should it cost?
4cyl turbo charged engine? No! I'll have to leave Toyota in favor of the Nissan Frontier with the V6 engine for now. I heard poor sales on these new Tacomas and for good reason.
What links you have on poor sales? I can’t wait for mine!
I will never buy a boosted four-cylinder pick up. After 22 years of buying nothing but Toyota trucks I’ve been pushed into the arms of Ford. I love ! v8 power 10 speed transmission, all the trim for the same price as the Trd pro Tacoma. Toyota lost the plot.
Cool, I can’t wait for my 4th gen Tacoma!
Honestly im hearing a lot of bad reviews about these overpriced lemons. As a jdm enthusiasts to see how this engineer botched what a true jdm was suppose to turn out as compared to the hilux this is truly an expensive liability. N the meanwhile ill enjoy the hell out of my 5th gen 4runner avg. 20 mpg w age it gets better like fine wine.
What links and evidence do you have to support it being a lemon?
I don’t like the look of the helix one bit, but it’s also not available in the US market..
How can 1 go wrong w a NA 4.0 v6? Mine is pushing 200k n it avg vetter mpg than new. Sometimes on the Interstate I'm crusing at 70 under 2k rpm avg mog 24.6 mpg

I can't even see the price and their stupid markups...
I’m buying mine for MSRP..
@@BrosFOURRSpeed so I have been seeing on facebook groups they are selling it under MSRP. now.. but you do what you gotta do... I feel like the 4runner is more bang on the buck now. V6 and a blast from the past
@@linkfeeney8873 maybe by the time I buy it, that could happen..4Runners are cool, but depends on what you want. I’d rather have the Tacoma vs a 4Runner.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed What is your secret for getting one at MSRP? Do you know someone who works at/for Toyota? I feel like everyone pays some type of markup one way or another now days. I noticed in your old video you also got your 3rd gen for at or under MSRP. I'm stuck with my 3rd gen for a while still paying it off, but would love to know your dealership tactics for getting good deals!
@@dylanjischke1993 I have no secrets, just going to a dealership that is reputable and wants repeat customers. There’s plenty of dealers that don’t do markups, you just have to find one. Thats all I did.
That lower valance is 🤮
It comes off very easily! Not the only truck that has that.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed it’d be the first thing I ripped off. In fact I’d leave at the lot.
@@JimEagle5.56 lol yeah, I’ll be taking that off first too!
2.4 Liter turbo...🤔 No thanks.
That’s fine, I’ll be making a lot of content in mine! Can’t wait!
They're not selling. No one wants a 4-banger in a truck. Plastic front "skid plate." Faux spare tire. Flimsy recovery hooks buried deep. You're not going off road with that front air dam just inches off the ground. Waaaay over priced. Frontier is a way better option for a mid sized truck.
It’s selling, but they also just came out too lol, plenty of 4 cylinder trucks on the road. I’m planning to take mine offroad, the air dam is so easy to remove, that’s not stopping anyone either..
Made in Mexico lol
And?
New 4cyl turbo motors in the trucks, as well as 6cyl turbo, are junk. Feel likes it is in the wrong gear at times. It does feel like it has umph, but, the 4cyl umph. That power is “shallow”. Drive a v8 with the same power and a 4cyl, and you’ll know the difference. Overall Feel is cheap. Do not like how it drives, accelerates, cheap plasticky interior and exterior, gigantic and useless screen, lacking weatherstripping between the doors and frames as well as front and back doors. Overall it is 🤢 🤮… Not worth the money. Go buy the latest 4L and ignore the latest turbo junk… my opinion, these latest turbo motors are made for the latest ignorant generation that does not know cars and are more concerned about tech vs practicality and drivability. Mark my words, anyone with a 4L motor will have less issues and will save more money than the latest turbo “junk”.
I like how it drives, accelerates way better than my 3rd gen with the V6. Yeah there’s some plastic, but I’m still buying it! Can’t wait!
this truck is cheap, over priced, ugly design….no cap, disappointment!
I’d disagree, sold my 3rd gen for one and don’t have any regrets, love the new one and can’t wait to take delivery.
