- The Australian’s Histories Editor Alan Howe discusses Julian Assange’s return to Australia as he is expected to plead guilty to espionage.
“He’s clearly a very bad bloke, he’s done some very bad things,” Mr Howe told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
“He has compromised the entire Western alliance of diplomatic cables and communications.
“Julian Assange is neither an editor nor a journalist.”
Julian has done more for journalism with Wikileaks, than any other journalist in the modern era.

They went after Assange "because he is a foreigner"? They also sentenced Chelsea Manning and he/she is a US citizen.
Conservatives still maintain that debunked position that Assange cost lives. What he did was severely expose what our government was covering up over years. The government could have worked to correct these problems but instead it welcomed these illegal actions and worked to cover them up. The whole purpose for releasing that information was to give the government a rude awakening that they need to change.
Not all conservatives maintaine this position and it was the Democrats who jaild Assange.

I really should have pointed out that the alphabet divisions of the DOJ have been able to convince the politicians that Assange was an evil genius when in fact their illegal activities were exposed. It was "please sir, we'd be very grateful if you could see your way clear to at some time in the future let us have our naughty man back". There doesn't have to have been damage for Assange to have been wrong. Attempted murder also can involve no damage, but it is still a crime.
