Can you take a castle by yourself in Bannerlord? Let's find out! This will be an unmodded uncheated play through. Starting from a vanilla character in a vanilla game. I first head over to the city of Poros, But I spot what will be ninety-nine percent of the opponents I will fight. Looters! The strategy here is simple, a lot of cheesy range that makes you question your ethics. The one aspect of this game that gave me hope was every time my character could level up, I was one level closer to taking over a castle. After shooting more looters, too upgrading, too selling I've lost the taste of senseless violence and move on to the next depressing experience. Quests. I end up taking three of these but just like responsibility in my real life, I end up failing them all. Several days later now and we happen to find the perfect castle to besiege. Very quickly all hopes disappear as I realize this will not be an easy battle. Can you blame 'em though? Why defend your castle when it's just one man attacking. After watching some youtube motivational videos and my pride at an all-time high, I really begin to believe that this feat I've embarked on is actually possible, like the American Dream.
Oh yeah and then there's reality. They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I was about to go insane until I discovered this neat little trick that saved this video. First what I do is get a kill, then retreat, save the game, and voila attack again and repeat. Some of you may call this cheating but I call it genius. With this, I have become completely unstoppable in all of Calradia, With time against me, more armies arrive. They were no match for my God tier skills. And adding another two to my prisoner count. Then an army of twenty shows up. I'm deeply offended by these numbers. With my offense paid in blood, we can move on. Another army down, another lord as my captive. At this point, I realize I wouldn't even get an achievement for this cause there are no achievements in the game yet. Oh my f***ing god. At this point, I'm running out of things to say except that painful hours pay off. But the grind continues. During my siege, a friendly face shows up, some bandits. A very easy win. Not even a minute later, some looters. Just like my ex's they never seem to get the message that I've moved on, I fight armies now, the big leagues. And annoyingly the big leagues show up. I'm gonna knock that feather off your damn head. The feather remains but who cares your, my prisoner. We're really cooking now. Another army shows up, but this time this guy already knows me and I assume that he escaped from my captivity. He didn't, turns out I met him earlier in the campaign but I stick with my assumptions, inevitably raising my paranoia which leads me to make some questionable choices. Choices to prevent more escapes that never even happened. But before my inner tyrant bubbles up to the surface, my first coalition arrives to stop me. After a good four-hour battle, we finally win. With more prisoners, more mouths to feed, and my paranoia at an all-time high, I pull a Heyonce and begin mass execution. With my rivals dead and Heyonce pleased our siege continues. Almost as if my mind is breaking, everyone is beginning to creep me the f*** out. I happily kill them. but to make sure insanity stays dead I execute and this happens three more times. Army shows up, I win, I execute. Army shows up, I win, I execute. Shows up, win, execute, circle of life. And with that, the moment of truth finally arrives. Let's go ahead and answer this question. With our siege started I notice one small problem, getting up to the walls, there are no damn ladders, and no ladders mean there's no way to get into the castle. Makes you wonder what my guy was doing that whole time. Since we're already boots on the ground, might as well take out some of the archers. Once I got a comfortable amount of kills, I retreated, saved, and built a battering ram. We can finish this. We take out the final remaining archers and begin pushing up the battering ram. Just like this entire playthrough, it was a long and boring process. With the gate finally down, we enter the belly of the beast. With a hole in the wall, I begin picking off my adversaries. With the gates of hell knocked over I storm the castle. I rush the last guy, giving him an honor of a duel. Defeated we have officially taken the castle by ourselves in Mount & Blade II Bannerlord. - Hry
Imagine a random guy just mounting a tent in front of your castle while threatening to raid you lmaoooo
But you can't kill him because he dissapears into thin air and comes back a minute later fully loaded with arrows
and you, the king, keep getting news about how all your vassals are getting obliterated and killed by this one guy
If they were smart they would tell him to go away before they taunt him a second time.
@@russellb6249 The retreat cheese is very overpowered. In some warband mods, your character recieves damage each time you do this. It will be a nice way to fix it.

*Everyone watches as the madman keeps picking off the soilders one after one losing them in the woods, over and over again.*
Guard: It was a fluke it had to be!
*More armies arrive only to fall to the madman who becomes so deranged he executes the prisnors in front of the castle*
*Everyone begins to panic family's run and hide, people beg for mercy, but nothing stops the man from putting arrows in their bodys, or crusing their skulls. With its victory the demon celebrates by dancing on top of the dead.*

The only way they could fix it is to make horse archers and cavalry in general much, much more expensive.

I've long known this possible via my own testing, but I never guessed that there was a madman who would actually do it!
Edit: you can actually break the exterior gate with melee damage too (you don't need a ram), but it takes a long time. Probably not longer than grinding down an extra attacking army, however.

I remember people used to do something like that with Lords of the Realm II. You could go to the enemy castle, keep destroying a little of the defenses, retreat, and every time they'd be weaker and weaker until you could just walk in.
i had a solo character shrank down to reduced hit box armed with the heavy crossbow shield (to soak the most arrows), noble longbow and 2 stacks of stack bodken arrows
mounted on my war donkey (latter evolved into Hunspree the spitter) we rode circles around our targets mocking them till their quivers emptied then picked off 64 at a time... rode away repeated.

companions/wives didn't last as long but with three stacks of crafted javelins they put enough hurt on the enemy to 'FOLLOW MEE MAKE A SKEEN!"

once they survive long enough to get 'thrown javelins pierce shields like ballista bolts" they last long enough till their quivers are out and we go home with 64 kills +~15/companion/wife
200million gold... over burdened. enemy to all factions. unable to enter any town... i raid to have enough food to survive the next raid... war... war never changes

Ahh, the perk of being friends with nerds. We also had the demo, but my friends either downloaded a crack or rewrote some line in the launcher, so the entire school could play for free. :D

the reason it took so long ot build the siege camp.... ran out of leather. human skin substitutes had to be triple-layered for safety.

Funny it suggested this video as started a campaign to do this myself but I didn't have the dedication to continue the grind... now I glad I didn't bother 😂
Expectation: One man army going through the enemy like it's Dynasty Warriors.
Reality: Most boring experience you can have in the game, the Army isn't needed to win, it's needed to win fast enough to not get tedious.
Fun fact: Real life 1 man armies in history basically used the same kind of "hit and run" strategy, picking off only a few enemies at a time before vanishing. Though granted, they didn't have the option to save their progress.

The Greek god took his castle alone, not how I would want to play the game, but situations sometimes force me to one-man army myself. I left my soldiers to the shield wall and took out all the bandits horsemen alone. So it happens.
