    Coins are one of the main products that I make on the fiber laser. With the recent addition of the 100w MOPA Fiber from ‪@omtechlaser‬ it has taken some time and testing to dial in new settings to match all that power!
    These are the settings that work In my two machines but that is not a guarantee that they will work for you. TEST AND TEST AGAIN!

    @BeardedBuildsCo - Thanks. Apparently (at least according facehugger's Fiber Laser Group) these settings are "people spend a lot of time and money getting the right, 2) settings differ per machine/lens/environment"
    I converted your Lightburn Black mark settings to EzCad and had a black mark on brass sheet in 3 minutes.
    Thanks for posting your technic here for us to duplicate!

    Hi, you use a 100W JPT Mopa M7 right? This Laser has the Option Pulse duration. You have to look into the technical Data first. There you can find the max Ratings depending of the Frequency. You can set the Q Pulse of max Power depending of the Frequency. Example: if you use a Frequency of 70kHz the max Q Pulse is 250ns. At 200kHz the max Q Pulse is 60ns at the max output Power. It means if you set the Power at 50% at 200kHz and 60ns the output Power is 50% or 50W. If you increase the Q Puls from 60 to 200ns the output Power is less than 50% or 50W. If you decrease the Q Puls from 60 to 30 the output Power is also less than your seting of 50% or 50W. The max Q Puls is 2ns at 2.960kHz. At 20kHz it is 350ns.
    Hope you Understand what i mean.

    do you have to cover the surface with a black marker or anything so theirs so refraction back into the lens or does it not matter with a fiber laser? Just curious cause I just purchased one from cloudray waiting to be delivered. Also what focal length lens should be used for best results/fine details?

      @@BeardedBuildsCo Does the lens size really make a big difference? I'm running a 70mm lens on my identical machine and can get absolutely nowhere near the quality you seem to get off your 110mm lens. Engraving and cleaning seem to go great, but my black layer is just... not black.

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @ThePattyChuck the shorter the lens the more depth you can get quickly because the power is not diluted by the longer distance. If everything is working out well other than the black it is likely a settings that you need to work on. Using my engraving and clean settings on a different lens probably work perfectly fine but the black will need fine tuning.

      @@BeardedBuildsCo Any tool steel would work imo, especially for testing. Most seem to use A2, S7, D2, misc vanadium steels, H13, etc... just need to heat treat after cutting. Older solutions were def milled CNC, but many of the companies making them seem to have switched to MOPAs, just on the higher end.

      You mention nothing about WHAT you are trying to do.
      If it's metal, get a cheap test sheet and change only 1 setting at a time.
      Just like an optometrist that flips 1 lens at a time and asks you "is this better or worse"

    I currently have a 4x8 cnc plasma table that I make a lot fire pits, signs, etc. with, but I am looking into fiber laser markers and just waiting to click the purchase button. I feel OMTech is my company of choice due to the amount of information there seems to be out there. I am definitely interested in coin and other metal products as well as pistol grip / slide engraving (example GLOCK). I will be getting either the 30w or 50w and I would like your opinion on whether the 30w would be a great starter or should I step up to the 50? I see each has the same engrave depth capabilities and I do understand that more wattage = more speed, but for starting is the 1,700 dollars more for the 50w worth the initial investment? I am by know ways cheap and always believe in big or go home like with my plasma table, though I would definitely love the 100w, I am just trying to find the best bang for the buck starting fiber marker. Your videos are very educational and definitely encourage me to enter this market. I am a Firefighter/Paramedic as well and have a ton of ideas reaching this market. Your honest opinion on which of the 2 machines I am looking at would be greatly appreciated and valued. Thank you sir.
