This is the finest Hip-hop you're ever going to listen to. In my opinion.
Amen
I totally with you agree
absophuckinlutely!!!!
Heck yeah!!!!
4 real, OG's
If you're going to do Eric B & Rakim, you have to do "Follow the Leader".
Paid in full is my personal favorite
Yeah follow the leader is timeless.
They can't handle this - they gonna break down....
Paid in Full
This song never gets old! This is hip hop…real hip hop, back when MC’s wanted you to hear their lyrics….a wordsmith
Funny having to hear it from the youngsters, like we didn't know.
THANK YOU!!!
The God MC Rakim is unquestionably in the conversation of the greatest rappers of all time!!!
"A menace to the microphone, a lethal weapon or assassinator if the people aint steppin" RAKIM is the GOAT, Hands down, nuff said.
Yes sir without any questions ever asked
AMEN!!
OMG! Eric B & Rakim is real hip hop. I loved that whole album. You need to get Lex into some EPMD next.
Did you see that Nas released the song "EPMD 2" featuring EPMD recently ?
@@adgato75 no I didn't, I'll have to check it out
First album - “Strictly Business”
Rakim is considered one of the greatest....is said he has the best verse ever written.
Rakim the God, the man, the myth, the G.O.A.T. Gotta do I Ain't No Joke, then Follow The Leader, then Know The Ledge.
Agreed
Love this style/era of Hip Hop. So much easier to understand the bars.
"silly rabbit" who didn't eat Trix cereal, love that pop culture ref
I want all of you to see the smiles that creep onto their faces. That's what real music does. It touches your soul
Rakim, Always takes his time and never rushes it. He doesn't have to.
Rakim was the truth , y'all. He is on so many "Top 5 ever" lists . Not just of fans - of other rap artists.
Greatest rapper of all time and it aint even close. This was one of the first Golden era of rap albums I ever bought. Got it in 88.
Rahim and Eric B hip hop classic duo, underrated as hell and my childhood memories are flooded.
Brad and Lex: FYI, Rage against the machine did a cover of this classic. Rage is a cross between Rock and Hip Hop. Lyrically an important band that speaks their mind like Bryson Gray. Down Rodeo is pronounced Ro-Day-O as in Rodeo Dr. in Beverly Hills. Rage uses many metaphors in their lyrics. Killing in the name (75k), Bulls on Parade (60k) views. Viewers are out there.
I agree ...it is time for them to react to Rage...I think they will love it.
Yup, Rage is a great one to react to
Wow, loved Rage back in the day. How I missed the fact they covered this is beyond me.
@@GDawgTube They did a full album of covers.
Great cover.
Rakim was one of a kind in the 80s. No one who wanted their careers to end ever challenged him. He was a pure lyricist.
Eric B. & Rakim - Don't Sweat The Technique
You need to do more Rakim! He’s the God M. C. !
Wow! I'm pretty sure I haven't heard this song for 20+ years. This channel is quickly becoming my favorite.
Real og's! There isn't a rapper alive that didn't have an influence from eric b and rakim! If they say they don't know them they haven't learnt there craft! You'd like Gangstarr/mass appeal ( and the rest of there tracks too)
Wonder how you'd dig Anthrax & Public Enemy "Bring the Noise"?
Eric B. & Rakim were freaken awesome! You guys should check out "Follow the leader" next.
Rakim is on my personal Mt. Rushmore of lyricist with Em, Pac and Chuck D. Going to have to make some room for Tom on there pretty soon though.
Couple of suggestions. Paid in Full is legendary. And unfortunately Rakim and Eric had some beef and split. But Rakim did some solo's after it. Stay a While is absolute fire.
"Thinking of a master plan, cuz ain't nothing but sweat inside my hands, so I dig into my pocket all my money is spent, so I dig deeper but still coming up with lint, so I start my mission, leave my residence, thinking how I can get some dead presidents"
Eric B and Rakim was same time as run dmc and beastie boys and LL cool j amongst many many other rappers who enunciated in the mid 80s to early (very early) 90s
Rakim is a legendary rapper. Need to do some more old skool, EPMD, KRS-ONE, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, Fab 5 Freddie, RUN DMC
Rakim is without doubt one of the best MC's of all time, and I don't say the lightly. I grew up in LA during the 70's and 80's, and was there for the start of hip-hop as it migrated across the country. I bought mix tapes from the swap meets, knew people selling out of trunks, friends DJ'ing, etc., so I've seen and heard it all. I would easily put Rakim in the top 5, and depending how the wind is blowing any day, he could be my number 1.
RAKIM is the greatest emcee to touch the mic. React to "Holy Are You" its recent.
He's the God MC for a reason
Rakim is definitely up there in the conversations about GOAT. His flow was often imitated.
16 years old. 78 Impala, 1 speaker in my dashboard
The best times.
Gotta do Eric B & Rakim ‘i ain’t no joke’ or ‘my melody’ next!
Hey guys! I've never been a huge rap fan. But absolutley love Eric B. & Rakim.
Heres my favorite. Awesome
Eric B. & Rakim - Paid in Full (7 Minutes Of Madness Remix)
THE G.O.A.T.!! This is the foundation
I Know You Got Soul
Song by Eric B. & Rakim
Back in the day, it was backyard parties. DJ was mixing and an MC would get up and kill it.
He is the original OG,! A true God, of the genre
KOOL G RAP! he is the GOAT when it comes to multi syllable rhyming.
Can't believe you're doing Eric B & Rakim. Check out 'Follow the Leader' & 'Juice (Know the Ledge)'. Two of the best tracks ever!
another huge eric b and rakim tune is dont sweat the technique its a classic!
In the old days there was a DJ and an MC or 2 and that was it, it was simple bare bones, 2 turntables on a microphone.... Back when you needed real talent
Rakim, KRS, you can hear what they're saying, the music is banging, both in the top 5 ever ✊ Do "Pass the hand grenade", that track is special, Lex would love it! 😄
Feed me hip-hop & I start trembling! 😮😅 Everything he spits is straight DOPE!
Rakim is my own personal GOAT his flow is unheard of even above Biggie, Nas or Em. The best part of hip hop is we may agree on 90% of the top 10 but so many will have different top 3's.
Rakim is a legendary MC and one of the best of all time. Rope chains, track suits, and rings were the style.
YES! we need more rap from this era, Rakim is a legend. next one should be mob deep shook ones, such a hard song
Rakim produced 85% of his songs. He said that in an interview.
Yeah! "Eric B. is President" is my fave jam by these guys
Eric B and Rakim : The ledge, I ain't no Joke, Mahogany
"...purity in rap...". How very correct you are.
Rakim is a GOAT!! His lyrical style and the album Paid in Full is the genesis of "The Golden Age of Hip Hop" imho. He basically pioneered the multisyllable 16 bar flow. Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One on the level as well, true pioneers in the essence of Flow. _Check out Paid In Full, I Ain't No Joke, Follow the Leader, Know the Ledge, and Don't Sweat the Technique_ He basically wrote the blueprint for Mos Def & Talib Kweli, Q Tip, Guru, Nas, Pac, BIG, Meth, Andre 3000, Jay, Em, Kendrick, etc. All influential in their own right with unique "Flow" *Forever GOAT Status*
I received a boom box w/ double cassette player for my 10th birthday in 1989 and I remember listening to the local hip hop station and recording the songs I liked, Microphone Fiend was the very first, I remember walking around my apartment complex, boom box on my shoulder w/ the volume to the max… I miss the good ole days🤔
Lol I got my JVC dual cassette Box for my tenth birthday in 1981. A lot of people don't realize that boom box wasn't a thing back then. We only called it a box.
What?!? Erik B. WOW. I have not heard these words in like 20 years.
This song was a hit in São Paulo, Brazil. The Remix Is fire. Really dope.
BEST MC EVER IN RAP. That's 100 % fact
Excellent choice
My favorite. So weird, I got into Erik B and Rakim like 10 years ago when I was in my 30’s. I’m a metal guy but promote them always
I ain’t no joke is legendary
This is cool music. Being absolute metal head. Probably only rap I like. MOVE THE CROWD
I Love what Lex said about the DJ. She's correct. The DJ was scratching n mixing, vinyl records during the MCs rhyming. Today, it's all digital and they call themselves djs. On stage the relationship between the MC and the DJ was important to put on a good show. Now, the rapper just had to remember his lyrics. He doesn't have to ride out to whatever the DJ is doing.
THE GOD MC!!
Ya'll probably not coming back to this old school video to read this comment but this is the man who took hip hop to the next level. Before Rakim it was more 'BOOM BAP' and simple rhyme styles, that's why they call him the 'GOD MC' - He's the creator of it all
Thanks you guys. Graccias chicos.
Glad someone put you on was listening to them last night and was going to suggest.
I grew up on this and I am thankful for that.
The man in that video rapping is to hip hop what Jimi Hendrix is the the electric guitar
Rakim Allah the God MC….the best to ever do it period. 🖤🥶
I love me some Old school hip hop/rap,specially Eric B & Rakim.Paid in full,next.
I am surprised that neither of you commented on his rhyme scheme. That is what was so next level about Rakim. We were all dumb-struck by his rhyme scheme when he came out. He is still the standard-bearer for MC'n.
@brad&lex I’ve seen a few of you guys videos. I must say Brad you are a lucky man, just the way Lex looks at you is something special. Keep up the good work.
The best of the best.
This is great! Great choice for a reaction.
Their song Follow the leader was probably their most popular.
Love these guys. Follow The Leader, Juice (Know The Ledge), Paid In Full, No Omega, and I Know You Got Soul are all great as well.
Ahh yes, real old school rap. Everything from 1979-1988 is great.
You have to be efficient with word choice to deliver a tight flow with fewer words. These guys had to be great to stand out.
The first Rap group to have a million dollar contract. Actually for every album they recorded a milli‼️This was 1987 ✊🏾 Rakim is in everyone's Top 5 if not you don't know hip hop! I seen them in Madison Sq Garden in 88 5 nights 5 consecutive sold out shows.
Yo! Check out Eric B. & Rakim - Juice (Know The Ledge). It's from the soundtrack of a movie called "Juice".
This takes me back!!🥰❤❤👍👏👏Good times!!
Rakim is still rapping, still releasing music occasionally
This is the BAR you need to set for hip hop quality. Just cuz you pour syrup over shit, that don't make it pancakes! And that's what we've been given for the past 15+ years.
Erik b. And rakim best rappers of all time ..do . i aint no joke
Old shit!...yeeess!..one of my all time favorite!..do big daddy kane..boogie down production. Etc.🤘
The God MC
It is pure hip-hop. And a top 5 all-time MC, imo.
I'm glad you came across the Microphone Fiend. Peace God.
love you guys.
Love this jam
“Follow The Leader”
Lyrics upon lyrics upon lyrics
Fire 🔥 this is my high school jam
Rakim is why the term G.O.A.T. was created.
You guys should revisit this duo. Check out 'Follow the Leader'. It's their single greatest track and one of the greatest ryhme schemes in hip hop history.
The God MC! Need to do Know the Ledge or Don’t sweat the technique!
My absolute fave of generation one!!
You know it's good if Brad is still swaying after the music stops
now that's what I'm talking about, OG OP
FYI: LL COOL J just gave EM a custom made chain exactly like one he use to wear in his videos because EM said he loved those chains...👊👍😎
#LEGENDS🐐🐐🐐
🔺🔺🔺
Em has always been extremely outspoken about his admiration of LL COOL J. That is a really cool gesture.
EVERYBODY had a DJ back in the day. When Will Smith came out his group was called DJ JAZZY JEFF and the FRESH PRINCE.
G.O.A.T....Had to go play ball after hearing The R back in the day
So much FLOW !!!
digital underground's "the humpty dance" is 1 u guys will love.
Back in the day, one guy was the MC while the other guy was the DJ.
Top 10 hip hop tune ever.
Rakim = G.O.A.T.! The God M.C. 'Nuff said...
Please react to Rage against the machines cover of this!
True Flow! No one was better.
