    In this episode of the "SCRAP METAL REPLICA" I show how to forge replica of the early medieval axe. I based on the archaeological find from Ostrów Lednicki (Poland). To forge it I used wrought iron and C55 (1055) steel.

    I was wondering why would you use wooden hammers for consolidating a bloom of iron right after pulling it out of the furnace.

      It is important to have during bloom competition a hammer surface as large as possible . The same size steel hammer would weight 50 kg.
