What if you don't open the door at 2am does she keep ringing the bell until her human slave gets up and lets her in?
What a conundrum! What if you put some sort of a cover with a hinged door over the doorbell so she couldn't get her paw in there to push the button? Cats are pretty intelligent beasts but hopefully there's a way to outsmart Lady!
I've got about 16 cats and they can get on your last nerve at times. PLEASE let us know if you find a solution. I love my cats & my dogs but NOBODY is allowed to mess with my nighty-night time. LOL

I keep my linen table cloths and clean dish towels in the middle drawer of one of my kitchen cabinets. One day I saw that the drawer was part way open, so I looked in the drawer and there was my cat Tuco stretched out on the table cloths looking back at me. He had figured out how to put his front paws up on the drawer, walk back with his hind legs, and pull the drawer open so he could jump into the drawer and use the table cloths as his personal cat bed. I decided that I would outsmart him and use packing tape to prevent the drawer from opening. So I put a piece of tape on the drawer and the frame of the cabinet to keep Tuco out of the drawer. It worked for a few days. Then one day I came into my kitchen and found Tuco back in the drawer again. He had figured out that the tape was preventing the drawer from opening and gnawed the tape into two pieces. Cats are remarkably intelligent and very good at solving problems. I lost Tuco to cancer in November of 2018. I leave one of the pieces of packing tape on the drawer in memory of him.
My cat learned to open the linen closet. Whenever I noticed the door was ajar I'd look inside and he'd be laying on a stack of fluffy towels. Once I opened a lower cabinet in the kitchen and he was curled up in a roasting pan. I told him "Don't tempt me".

My last cat figured out how to work the lever on my office chair...he'd sneak in, push the lever then run as I ssssssssssssssssss dropped to the floor lol.

My late boss, who was a dedicated animal rights person, had a wild raccoon in her yard who learned to ring her back doorbell because she would get a peanut butter and honey sandwich when she did it.

When we lived in NH, we had a disabled raccoon in the "Hood". We called him Bandit. He would show up for dinner at 5pm every night!!
I swear if we gave him a key, then he'd let himself in! 😂

You may be right, but Lady might just be one of those who is too much cat for just one family. I had a cat like like that many years ago and I have another one now. Sometimes it's hard not to be a little jealous, especially with my current cat, but he definitely has enough personality to go around and he brings alot of happiness to neighbors that don't have a cat.

Indoor-outdoor cats usually has several places they call home, Lancey is probably just one of many Lady allows to own her. LOL

Oh I have had two cats adopt me. I didn’t want either. They ended being absolutely gorgeous cats and I was devastated when they passed away, and I still am. ❤

Lady is a beauty! That combination of tabby and calico - in my experience, they are often quite smart. Perhaps something about having a rich, diverse genetic pool.
Yes! I have found that the Calico/Tabby is HIGHLY intelligent!! I just didn't expect Lady to teach herself to ring the doorbell! (Definitely MY BAD!!)

That was brilliant. I’ve always found in my years of being a cat guardian that it’s the female cats that are the cleverest. My little calico could think her way into and out of any situation. Her brother by contrast was…miaow…just feed me!😂.

my parent's neighbor's dog would visit on occasion, they had an invisible fence that apparently didn't work lol. he'd come over and wander in their open door and do things he wasn't allowed to do like sleep on the couch or steal food off the table. My mom tried real hard to teach him bad habits but that dog was smart and only did them at her house, never his lmao. he was a big tough Rottweiler but one time I had to save him from my cat, who got him pinned in a corner and wouldn't let him out. He looked mean as hell but was really a big softy who loved everyone. I really miss him, when he passed away the whole neighborhood held a service for him in the park across the street. everyone loved him. Animals are smarter than we think, and hilarious too.

Once the doorbell rang and when I opened the door there was a strange cat on the porch looking up at me. I had a cat and I almost expected this cat to say "Can Marty come out and play?". Later I saw this same cat on a neighbor's porch and saw him jump up and bat the doorbell. Maybe he was

Lady is smart cookie. She has figured out that why would this button be here, if it wasnt meant to be pushed, preferably late at night. Peeping Garfield has a doppelganger in Finland, not just the looks, but the embarrassing tendencies are strong in our Onni too. Our convicts get out only at our lakehouse, but there Ill get near daily (very adorable) calls from our elderly lady next door. Onni has set his mind on getting inside her house, we have no idea why. We have talked about boundaries and consent, but the yellow devil does what he wants. Good luck!

Our male cat wants us to change all of our doorknobs to the angular levers you pull down to open. He's tall enough to open the one door we have that kind on and doesn't understand why we won't accomodate him and put them on all of the other doors as well. He's a lazy beast, though, and sleeps a lot.
None of the female cats are tall enough to open the door so if they (or the dog, for that matter) want to go through that door, they'll wake him up and walk over to the door and he'll oblige them. :)
Back years ago before door bells had cameras 'someone' kept ringing ours. Every time we went to the door no one was there. Took us a while to realize it was the cat doing it.

One time 2 cats almost scared me and my mom to death. At the time my family owned a tow/ impound yard. My father had set up a nice big camper in the back corner complete with bathroom 3 beds for the workers to sleep during long shifts on weekends. Mostly its just where I lived for the summer when no was 16. In our yard we had an old ambulance that was like the ghost busters car but more Windows no tech non top. It was out by the camper and we didn't have no flood lights on the one area.a told my mom to come see how I decorated the camper.as we walked in front of the old ambulance there were glowing eyes right where the driver's would be.I stopped tapped moms should she saw it and they were folowing our movements. Im starting to trip out thinking wtf this thing is haunted.when oyr freaking shop cat jumps out the window scari g us half to death.it must have been setting on the back of the from seat.
OMG! I am laughing my butt off!!! I had a similar experience where my cat (Lancey) got on top of a door - and me (at 2am needing to pee)- All I saw was these beady little eyes looking down on me!!! Scared the crap out of me!!! Thought I was in a Horror movie!!! Then I realized that it was "The cat" 😹😆😂
