Lake Fire 12% Contained, Over 14,000 Acres Burned Near Lake Hughes

- 08.15.2020 | 12:45 PM | LAKE HUGHES - A fast-moving fire dubbed the "Lake Fire" ravaged over 14,500 acres and was 12% contained after destroying at last six structures.
The fire was first reported around 3:30 PM on Thursday near the intersection of North Lake Hughes Road and Pine Canyon Road in the Angeles National Forest.
When crews first arrived on scene they quickly called for a second-alarm response to help battle the fast-moving fire.
Officials indicated at a press conference that fire had burned 14,714 acres and was 12% contained.
One firefighter suffered unspecified injuries and was transported by ambulance for treatment.
Multiple road closures and evacuations are in effect and expected to last through the night and firefighters battle the blaze.
Those under evacuation can respond to the Highland High School in Palmdale where an American Red Cross temporary evacuation site is set-up.
Animal boarding is available at several locations including the Castaic Animal Care Center, Lancaster Animal Care Center, and the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds.

I believe you're talking about the Ranch Fire out in Azusa. That one, they have a suspect they are looking for. Azusa police identified 36-year-old Osmin Palencia as a suspect. See here:

I could watch these fire videos all day. I always had a fascination with fire since I was little kit. All the old native plants and trees will regrow bigger and better, all the new species in that area will die off

@@releasetoreceive I'm in Burbank - approximately 56 miles south of Lake Hughes. I''m in what the weather service would call "central Los Angeles county". If you know where the San Fernando Valley is - Burbank is on the east end of "the valley".
Yesterday (8/14) the fire was 12% contained and had burned 17482 acres. Today the fire is 12% contained and has burned 14500 acres. A few more days and the fire will be 12% contained and have burned zero acres!

Here is how to get some coolness in these hot days if you do not have any air-condition. Close the doors in your kitchen, have fan is good but it is OK if you don't. Then turn on your refrigerator and your freezer door open wide for about 5 minutes every 25 minutes. You may put your fan in front of your refrigerator. If you have a blanket or sleeping bag put it on the ground since the cool air goes down have a nice sleep in a cool air.

Been watching this fire since Wednesday got to the ridge behind my property yesterday and it got knocked down burn through Kings Canyon these hot spots are making me nervous they keep trying to cut & go across the ridge and then it's all downhill to my place I burned 16 years ago this isn't fair.
I know this isn't much, but, sending prayers your way. I have gone through a few wildfires. It is not fair. I'm so sorry. 😔
