I know everyone loves stairway and dazed ect..but this is song should be considered one of if not their best. Zeppelin truly was the greatest.
This is the superior album in my humble opinion. It's awesome
"In the light" was a badass jam.
The greatest in stealing from black blues greats
@@pownbnull Definitely better than all them black folk like Bob Dylan.
The Best Songs from Zeppelin are Never Played on the radio....
In the Netherlands they are played 1 time a year
TRUTH!
Songs like this are why Album Oriented Rock stations mattered. The disc jockeys programmed their own shows. I grew up listening to WBCN in Boston, which had been a classical station until some of the disc jockeys barricaded themselves in the booth and took it over. It became an AOR station. Peter Wolf (lead singer of The J. Geils Band) was one of the djs for a while. The music director was called "Oedipus."
For many years, every night at 9:00 p.m. the station played a Zeppelin song, and it was never a radio hit. How many times did you ever hear "Achilles' Last Stand" or "Four Sticks" on the radio?
Those stations are virtually all gone now. The playlists come from some corporate office and the disc jockeys are there to be personalities; the music is incidental. And that's why radio is dead.
@@richardnanian6075 Me...Also from Boston, Mark Perento (WBCN) played Jazz Fusion bands all the time... They played almost every Steely Dan Song, they played Dyna-Mo Hum at least 30 times before the FCC came down on them....
WBCN is also responsible for Cheap Trick and many other bands making it big... I watched the entire DJ staff play the band BOSTON at the Lynn Campus. Maybe 1976???
@@alldayadventures5418 Yes, all true. Parenteau, Charles Laquidara, Ken Shelton, Carter Alan, J. J. Jackson - all great djs. BCN was the first station to give a bunch of great acts airplay - the Cars, U2, 'Til Tuesday (Aimee Mann) - before anyone else did.
I was only 17 or 18yrs. old when the Led Zeppelin first came on the scene and changed music 🎶🎵 for ever, and they would always play "In My Time Of Dying" whenever they performed live. I was fortunate enough to hear and see this absolutely phenomenal band perform live in concert 5 or 6 times, every time they came to the Tampa Stadium. To hear their concerts live was truly awesome. They were even better, if you can believe it, and this song was always demanded they play by everyone there. As I look back on It now, the Led Zeppelin will truly go down in musical history as one of the greatest, like the great masters of the classical music world....Beethovan, Mozart, etc. AND the Led Zeppelin.
That right there is why, THEY ARE THE GREATEST ROCK BAND EVER!!!!!! There was and is no better rythym section. Bonhams kick foot is unmatched!
Truth!!
Truth!
Most of the drummers since John Bonham have been unable to match his bass drum speed. They have to use double pedals just to try and keep up with him! :)))
Truth!
Jimi Hendrix told Bonham that his right foot was like a jackrabbit lmao
This shows why John Bonham was the best, Neil Peart might have been more technically sound but he needed a 300-piece drum set to do it. John Bonham did it on a basic Ludwig kit with raw talent.
no offense to Neil man and I'm Canadian but you are 100% correct on BONZO !
@@Newfie-zc7ug I'm the same way with no offense to Pert or Ginger Baker or Keith Moon lovers, they were all phenomenal drummers. Bonzo was pure raw uninhabited talent.
Incomparable. Neil never needed a 300 piece drum kit to sound like this cause Rush never sounded like this.
Neil's fills on a somewhat simpler kit, like on the All The Worlds A Stage live album from 1976 are definitely in the same league as Bonzo's in the mid/late 70s Led Zep period.
@@Rayruit I agree they are in the same league. I feel there's only a handful of drummers that are at that point it's just that I prefer Bonzo. Any of the top guys could be anybody's choice I wouldn't argue with it.
Neil Peart didn't "need" a huge drumset, Peart just wanted more to do more than the standard way of playing. Bonham and Peart are two of the best.
Fabulous reaction. Truly feeling it. Outstanding song. The whole band is rocking. Oh My Jesus.
My children all know that this will be played at my funeral!!
"Beating those drums like they owe him money".
Great comment Jay!
I about fell off the couch when Jay said that. 🤣😎
Page and Bonham show how it's done, it doesn't get any better than this.
it's PAGE...SMFH
@@christopherone1 it auto corrected me for some reason, my bad.
Robert Plant is the best is the glue to these songs. Hard to be l I've they were under 25 when they wrote and performed these songs. Unbelievable 60 and 70 talented Era I was blessed to know. Led Zeppelin is still #1 in my book...
@@mstewart109 I agree, my all time favorite band by far.
Bonzo always had Jimmy’s back...
and JPJ always had bonzo’s back...
Absolutely on the mark Justin
Couldn’t have said it any better
And when I saw them live, I threw out my back.
So true. Great comment
Watching them do this live at Earls Court is a real treat. Check it out.
100%
Definitely one of their best songs from the mid/late Led Zep albums.
Achilles Last Stand from their Presence album would be my other favorite.
this song was originally an old gospel standard called Jesus going to make up my dying bed Led Zeppelin took it to a whole nother level.
This is one of Zeppelin's best and gives a sense of Louisiana blues backed by absolute pounding drums which is amazing!
That drum kit needed therapy after this one.
Jay, you were like a kid in a candy store, on Christmas Morning, with this reaction! A+
The lost are of slide guitar right here. If you want another banger and you haven't heard it, check out "Travelling Riverside Blues"
During these bluesy songs Robert Plant would just starting shouting anything that popped in his head, usually snatches of some old blues song from 1927! Especially live.
Two words, Wanton Song... Bonzo’s sickest groove IMHO. 🤘🏻
John Bonham--described by one music writer as Zeppelin's "secret rhythm weapon". The fact that Zep called it a day after his death speaks volumes about how important Bonzo was, to their sound.
There is an apocryphal story that one of Zeppelin's early shows in 1969 was witnessed by Jimi Hendrix. After the performance, Hendrix told Bonham, "You have a right foot like a rabbit!"
Awesome reaction, Jay Rah!
Amen. I was devastated that they stopped after he died but at the same time it was clearly the right and respectful decision.
There’s a great live version of this song from Earls Court, 1975.
Bonham had a go on wards kit because they were mates. He BROKE it!!!
That tells you all you need to know about Bonham power
Great reaction video, love your hoodie!
BTW you have not done the other LZ drumming/ arrangements/ guitar masterclass “Achilles Last Stand” it is an epic its their best song in my opinion.
Blues, Jazz and Rock all in one. I've had 50 years of ARE YOU KIDDING ME from Zeppelin!
It's heart warming to see your reaction to this song. Your enthusiasm for Bonzo's thundering drums on this song elicits the same reaction I had to it 45 years ago. It's still just as good as it was back then!
Fuck8ng greatest album! In the light is my favorite track on this album
Recorded in 1974, released on Physical Graffiti in '75. This was Zep on FIRE!!! John Bonham-SCARY drumming from the rock master himself. That foot of his is hammering a Ludwig 26" bass drum..4 inches larger than the standard 22"...BIG POWERFUL drums...Ludwig! THE best sounding drums in the world, especially with someone like Bonham on them....
I listened to this song every morning, for half of my ninth grade year. I would move my Large Advents into the bathroom and blast this song while I was showering. I couldn't leave until I heard it, loud. This is my top Zepp jam.
nothing synthesized.. nothing computerized.. just damn good musicians
Bonzo only used one kick peddle...that’s how good he was. His triplets are untouchable in execution, and placement!
I love the respect you’re showing Bonham on your very first listen. There’s a reason they called it quits when Bonham died. As talented as they all were there was no way they could replicate their sound with another drummer.
WHER was I when you did this reaction!!?? Robert Busting Out With "Oh My Jesus, Oh My Jesus, Oh My Jeeeesus, It's Got To Be My Jesus, Oh Take Me Home, I Can Hear The Angels Singing"!!
I still Do NOT Know WHO Georgina was in this song lol..
My FAVORITE Album By Zeppelin by FAR!!
Peaceout!
Love ALL Y'all!
Favorite Zep tune on my favorite Zep album!! This tune just rocks!! Custard Pie, Ten Years Gone, Trampled Under Foot are also badass!
Those are 2 of MY 3 favorite songs on my favorite LZ album (insert Sick Again instead of Custard Pie). So many great songs...
I have been ADDICTED to this song for decades now. It NEVER, EVER gets old for me, EVER! And now I'm supplementing my addiction to the song with a growing addiction to reactions TO the song, lol! Yours may be the best I've seen so far. I just sub'd b/c of it. Glad you felt the drums the same intense , in-wonderment way many of us do. When u were raving in the middle of the song, I was like, oh, man, he hasnt even GOTTEN to the last three minutes yet, where Bonzo REALLY lets loose! Jimi Hendrix saw Zeppelin play one time very early in their career and went up to Bonham after the show and said, "Boy, you got a right foot like a country jackrabbit!" I think thats a true story. Love to see u do other Zep songsa. Havent checked yet. Maybe your channel is gonna be yet another "(countryjack)rabbit hole" for me to fall into, lol!
My first concert...Led Zeppelin 1977, Oakland Coliseum. How I miss those days. So many great performances. So much great music everywhere.
Yeah man John is an absolute Beast. Everybody in this band are special
Nobodys fault but mine. Please
Love your reaction to LZ.. and John Bonham this man studied ALgreens drummer little Richard‘s drummer and James Brown drummer and funk music combined into rock ‘n’ roll who would’ve thought this could be done.. Keep rocking..
PS try Led Zeppelin’s nobody’s fault but mine John Bonham drumming will always live on
How did this not come up in my feed earlier??? OMG...I love this song!! This live at Earls Court is unbelievable!!
Jimmy knew what he had in Bonham, didn't he. He's the star of this mix...
Great reaction! Although it’s hard to choose, this is probably my favorite Zeppelin song. Incredible!
Soooo good! Jay Rah, my favorite reaction.
This band is going to go down like a Led Zeppelin
I bought that album years ago and still have it.Love every piece on it.
Nice to see you again....
after listening to this song just makes you realize why they are the GOATs!!
I see THOR dropped into to play the drums !
Watched your reaction to In My Time Of Dying, 1st time seeing you, and immediately subscribed. Love your passion man. Looking forward to watching more.👍🏼
Killer Reaction Bro. Baddass Band. Firing on all cylinders
Love your reaction to my favorite Zep song! Keep doing your thing \m/
That's the best reaction to the best Zeppelin song I have seen. You saw the whole of the moon. Outstanding
I love watching how much you appreciate these musical geniuses!!!❤❤❤❤
He's rid'in out on them drums !
Its straight up like a freight train rollin, there ain't no stopping !
loved the whole thing...glad I was there
i've listened to this album sooooo many times.
great reaction
u absolutely right. john keeps these songs runnin
Reaction to Moby Dick live ! John’s masterpiece
I second the motion. ✋
Moby Dick is a 10 minute drums mindf*ck! 💥
this is a fantastic video reaction!! PEACE.
Badass track. Great reaction
I love seein' people get into Zepp. Loved 'em since I was a wee kiddo. Thanks Dad. Some of my top Zeppelin songs include Ten Years Gone, Houses of the Holy, and Black Dog.
FANTASTIC reaction! I've been making those faces to this track for the last 45 years
The stuff you’ve been covering....classic rock plus...is my go to music of choice....LZ, VH, PF and Rush are my four favorite bands!
And so much more!
One of of best reactions to this masterpiece of yet seen
Please check out Fool In The Rain next.... Bonham lays down some killer Latin Shuffle groove that will blow your mind. As great as Neil Peart was...John Bonham will always be my favorite rock drummer. He's untouchable in my opinion.
This song takes my breath away.
Now this is muzac!!!
Zeps American south influence
Watch the live version from Earls Court 1975
It wasn't easy to focus on one guys playing all the time as back then, they were bringing a lot of firsts to music. Nothing like this was out there, they were it.
I love your back drop.
I had the EXACT SAME reaction the first time I heard this song 40 years ago! Great music is TIMELESS!
Music is almost lost these days........the classics keep it alive. The only hope is some metal.
Your laughter was the best!
Well so I can die easy ❤️
It’s in my final wishes to have this played at my going home party
That shit was fun chatting live with other passionate fans of Zepp and this song! I really appreciate how Jay gets it, some are posers and fakes out there, NOT Jay Ray! #diverseears
You love Bonzo’s drums.....have you done Achilles Last Stand? Drums are gobsmacking
Glad you found this, Bro 🤘 You will find a lifetime of INCREDIBLE music on every track and every Album of Zepp. Dont forget Metallica! Descendants of the ALMIGHTY ZEPP. I grew up in the 80s, I listened to it all - from Zepp and Metallica, to BDP and Public Enemy, from B Boys to Van Halen and ofc Earth Wind and Fire.. Little did we know, MUSIC like this would NEVER happen Again. Subscribed.
Better that way! Listening to Zeppelin ought to be a personal experience!
Pure Adrenaline.
the greatest among great Led Zep songs IMHO!
GOATS!!!! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥my favorite L.Z. Tune...I love their pure blues stuff!
This was an old-time Gospel-blues song. Best Canjun-blues imho, out there. Great review, Jay-Rah....
The GOATS!!
"Stairway to Heaven" doesn't even make my Top 10 List for Led Zeppelin... that's how good they are. Ounce for ounce, pound for pound, this song is arguably their best.. arguably ;-)
One of the best tracks on Physical Graffiti
That whole album is amazing. Wanton Song, down by the seaside, boogie with stu, kashmir, etc. It had everything.
Ok first, congrats on killing the subscriber numbers, well deserved. Not sure if you've done much like e Zeppelin. But there are 3 that are MUST listen. You know the songs. Stairway to heaven, since I've been loving you, and this one in my time of dying. They are absolutely insane. Best band ever.
* LIVE songs
My favorite zeppelin song...
Yup.
So hard to get that bass pedal action before chain driven pedals...JB got nylon driven bass pedal that needs powdered graphite to keep it from slipping...insane ability...cheers!
This and Achilles Last Stand, are my favorite Zep songs
Such a great f'ing song 👍
young brother has taste. respect.
Drumms... This HAS to be played at my own funeral!
Listening to this song and watching the live video is definitely an experience! Something about Watchin Jimmy Page tear shit up…I’m in awe♥️#LedZeppelinNoOneElseComesClose
It was the drums that drove every zeppelin tune.
All four of them made Zeppelin!!! Never forget that!!! Take one away and the "ZEPP" is gone!!!!
When life sucks I come to Zeppelin and it all falls into place again.
One of the best songs by led zeppelin. You should check out since I've been loving you if you love The blues. Want to thank you for all your critiques. You're badass bro.
Sick again, Achilles, NBFBM, FNTR are my favorite drum tracks. IMTOD, sick again, NBFBM are even better LIVE.
One of my favorites if this song doesn't get you going, I don't know what will.
John sounds like he was using 2 clubs on those drums. No Mercy 😁
