As a man who was born in late 1966 I really came to love Zeppelin over the years. Unfortunately I never got to see them live before 1980 but nevertheless they were and are still my favorite Rock Band. As I became older and with the internet I became fascinated with the story of Zeppelin and their families. Triumph and Tragedy is the Led Zeppelin story for sure. It’s definitely worth the read in my opinion.

Best band in the world, only band to have kicked the Beatles out of no 1 in album charts and outsold them in concert stadium tours. Let's put it this way, 60's were all about The Beatles, 70's was all about Zeppelin. Btw, nobody in the 70's sounded like them. They were one of a kind even back then. I grew up during their time. So here you go ...

These four were young teens when they loved the Delta & Chicago Blues, their first two albums are a lot of Blues type songs. They play Rock Blues Folk Funk Reggae, soft Rock etc. everything they did is absolutely amazing, they put their heart & souls into it. Two great studio songs, You Shook Me, solos of keyboard harmonica & guitar. Tea For One is so beautiful Blues. Absolutely amazing lives, Since I’ve Been Loving You Madison Square Gardens (1973), but everything live from that concert is great. Live at Earls Court (1975) In My Time Of Dying, mind blowing steel guitar playing. The greatest band to ever grace this planet, over 50 years & still loved by millions.

Led Zeppelin consisted of four master musicians and when they burst onto the music scene back in late 1968, they very quickly became the biggest band in the world. They pretty much dominated the seventies until the untimely and sad death of their drummer in 1980. The remaining band members instantly knew they could not continue without him, so the split up.

Led zeppelin was heavy into blues and jazz. All the members were inspired by singers and bands of those genres. They wanted to incorporate jazz and blues into rock. Their name was coined by Keith Moon. He said that should go over like a led balloon, hence their name.

The diversity of their songs is what makes it easy to keep listening. They have beautiful songs like "Rain Song" and "Thank You" and they have rockers like, "Black Dog" and "Fool In The Rain" and fun ones like, "Hot Dog". This is the very short list.

Led Zeppelin was a band of 4 musical geniuses who together created something greater than the sum of the parts. Their music is transcendent, powerful and sublime. However, being Christians I wouldn't advise you to dig too deeply into their past. The '70's were a time of excess and debauchery which the boys from Zeppelin indulged in enthusiastically. Accept the music for what it is and enjoy. Know, however, that rumors floating about of Satanism and soul selling are false. Their flaws are all too human.

Just discovered you guys! Led Zeppelin are a journey! So you're gonna get a lot of commenters telling you guys to react to their live stuff before listening to the studio tracks. Don't Do It! It would be a big mistake! If you're gonna react to a live track, listen to the studio track first. Led Zeppelin were very improvisational, and could go off into long jam sessions in the middle of their songs, and if you're not into long improvisational jams, it'll just bore you. But if you want to get the true understanding of the song itself, the real power and magic of Led Zeppelin were in their studio recordings. I am going to recommend the next 2 Zeppelin songs be the studio recording of the song "Stairway to heaven" off of the album Led Zeppelin IV, and the studio recording of the song "Since I've Been Loving You" off of the album Led Zeppelin III. Both are masterpieces and two of the greatest achievements in audio recording history. One other note, me personally, I never considered Led Zeppelin or the Beatles to fall into the "Classic Rock" category. Those two bands were a genre unto themselves. Enjoy the ride!
    I subscribed!
    Peace

This is the second track on Led Zeppelin II. The first album I ever bought, aged 13, back in 1969. They were part of what was known as the British Invasion of bands back in the 60's and 70's. The Beatles, Stones and The Who may have come before but Led Zep basically set the standard against which all rock bands are judged. Try Kashmir, Since I've Been Loving You and When The Levee Breaks. It's been said, and I would agree that the DNA of Led Zeppelins music is in most of the popular music that came after them. Estimates of total units of music sold are 300,000,000 plus so yes they were and still are considered the greatest rock band ever. So if one just listens to the bands recordings which is 8 studio albums, and one live show recorded in 1973 at Madison square Gardens there is no denying the talent the band had.
I will title this part "Jimmy Page for dummies" Jimmy Page was the founder, and Guitarist for Led Zeppelin, and before Zeppelin he was one of the most sought after studio guitarists in the 1960s playing on many hit songs of that period. Page has always been a very private person which led to many theories that he sold his soul to the devil, all speculation, and a lot of tabloid talk, no wonder he avoided interviews most of the time. There are some facts about Jimmy Page that are true he was a big collector of personal items of a late 19th and early 20th century magician and occultist Aleister Crowley who was once described as the most evil man alive at that time. Jimmy Page even purchased the house of Aleister Crowley in the early 1970s, Even Jimmy Page said the house creeped him out, Jimmy Page also owned the largest occult book store in England named equinox. Those are some true things about him. Christians had a field day in the 1980s during the satanic panic with bands like Zeppelin etc... Remember we must separate the wheat from the chaff, like I said the band was great, unfortunately most Christians think that the devil is in everything that they don't understand and ultimately remain like children. Time for christians to grow up. Cheers

The song is basically Robert Plant saying that he believed that it should be socially acceptable to sleep with his wife's sister or anyone else - i.e. free sex. i.e. Sexual taboos "should never be." It is the counter-thesis of marriage. He is saying that the only thing that gets in the way of his extra-marital relationship is "What Is (societal and religious taboos) And What Should Never BE."

The greatest "gift" that God can bestow upon His creation is through individuals who are able to express their true spirits, whether it be through raising a child, being creative, relationships with others or, as in this case, making music. LZ has stood the test of time for over 50 years. Rather than saying, "have they sold their souls?", as many do in music, politics and business areas, I would ask what kind of people are they? Each member of this band is a "Master" craftsman, very much like a Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky or Tom Brady in sports, and it becomes clear fairly quickly how these individuals are at a higher level of awareness, focus and hard work than most of the rest of the population. They are gods among men, literally, and the stuff of which legends are made. Where does this "magic" come from? Clearly, a person has to come to an awareness of who they are and what they will do with their lives, how blessed they are to have such a talent, and then share it with the rest of the world, without compromise. In spite of their great talents, they are not free from suffering, trauma and death. I used to think that I shouldn't listen to LZ because of the "pagan" or mythological overtones, as well as the sensuality in many of the songs, but this is life. We know what our ideals and principles are and we try to live by those tenets, but we are also human and prone to the ebbs and flows in our journey and the emotions and thoughts which go with it. I try to be open to the music I'm hearing for the first time and let it carry me away, but it's not always possible because, at times, what you're hearing can be overwhelming and we can block what we're not ready for. I hope you delve further into Zeppelin. It's well worth the awakening ride. Thanks for your reaction. 🙏🙏

The members of Led Zeppelin were highly intelligent people and avid readers. Huge fans of Old English Literature, they read everything. As it did in the history of the its publication, and remains today, Rolling Stones Magazine publishes fake news, starts rumors, many times, ruining careers of musicians.
From its inception until the 80’s, music lovers only had Rolling Stones magazine to learn, keep in touch with the Artist(s) they loved and no other way to fact check. For some reason, Zeppelin was targeted by RS.

I’m guessing y’all don’t know this song is about Robert Plant (the singer) fantasizing about sleeping with his wife’s sister. Which he did do. So much for marriage! 🤣😉

Symbolism is a way to express counterculture, not to be ridged, and to experience all that is created. Some use symbolism to justify their harmful personalities, this is not what is represented in the symbolism of most rock like Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin was not a Christian band by any measure. As others have said, this is about Plant's desire for his wife's sister. The band had a reputation for hedonistic activities with groupies... and young girls. One groupie in particular had plastic casts made of rock musicians' private parts (erect penises) and Jimmy Page gladly obliged. His girlfriend when he came to the "Riot House" (look it up) was a 14-year-old groupie named, Lori Maddox. There is plenty of information about their exploits a quick Google search away. Debauchery was common among most if not all rock musicians of that era.
Nevertheless, they were all arguably the finest musicians of the era and their musical talent was exceptional.

And listen up ... Jesus himself would not stop a Jimmy Page guitar solo.... you just can't interrupt a Led Zeppelin song that long. Kills the vibe.

What a super odd song for your introduction to Led Zeppelin. It's not that it's a bad song but it is far from one of their many hits. Matter of fact, if your just a casual Zeppelin fan, I bet you never heard of this song. LOL. Still, great reaction. I really like how neither one of you tries to "overpower" the other one when you talk. Just hope you react to more of the mighty Zepp.
Dude, you ain't seen "Swag" until you see them live. Preferably something from 1973 at Madison Square Garden first.
Be warned though. Zeppelin was known to dabble in the occult. There most famous song, Stairway to Heaven, at one time, certain religious leaders claimed if you played it backwards, it had a satanic message. It sounds a tiny bit like he says something about Satin but most people agree it was a farce,
Zeppelin is heavily blues influenced so much of their sound comes from the blues. Their early albums, the first to, had a little bit of 60's psychedelic stuff in it. But they quickly grew out of doing that.
