  • On Wednesday, Charlize Theron appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers to discuss her new Netflix film, The Old Guard, in which the actress plays an immortal mercenary. Theron was also excited because the film was made by, and features, so many women.
Gina Prince-Bythewood, who is a Black woman, directed the film, and unlike most action films, much of the production crew was female, which was something that brought Theron bittersweet joy.
“There's a sadness attached to the fact that it feels so great because it does feel very unusual,” said Theron. “And that's not right.”
Theron lamented that in her 25-year career as an Oscar-winning actress, she rarely worked on a female-heavy set. She hopes that going forward, more women will be involved in film production.
“I really do think we have to keep the pressure on our industry to kind of sustain this kind of storytelling,” said Theron. “Because it is really... f***ing awesome.”

That’s total fiction. Women are not “badass” in any sense of the word. She is gorgeous and great actor but no one is buying she’s an action star
