  • Andrew Snelling continues discussing radioisotope dating, including whether excess heat would be a problem for accelerated decay rates. He then examines radiocarbon dating and determines whether carbon-14 has been found in dinosaur bones, coal and diamonds.
𝘐𝘴 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺? is a documentary that features over a dozen scientists and scholars explaining how the world intersects with the history recorded in Genesis. From rock layers to fossils, from lions to stars, from the Bible to artifacts, this fascinating film will change the way you see the world. The film’s goal is to provide a reasonable case for Creation in six normal days, a real Adam and Eve, an actual fall, a global flood, and a tower of Babel. Dr. Del Tackett, creator of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵, serves as your guide-hiking through canyons, climbing up mountains, and diving below the sea-in an exploration of two competing views…one compelling truth.

This segment is taken from 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘴 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺?, which explores rocks and fossils, intelligent design, astronomy, and so much more! These fascinating segments are approximately 20 minutes each and include an incredible depth of material not included in the film. They are perfect for families, churches, schools, and homeschools wanting to learn how Genesis explains the world around us.

Dr. Snelling completed a BS in applied geology at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, graduating with first-class honors in 1975. His PhD in geology was awarded in 1982 by The University of Sydney for his research thesis titled “A Geochemical Study of the Koongarra Uranium Deposit, Northern Territory, Australia.” Dr. Snelling worked for six years in the exploration and mining industries in Tasmania, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory, variously as a field, mine, and research geologist. For over ten years, Dr. Snelling was a research consultant to the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization for an international collaborative research project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy which involved university and government research scientists from the USA, UK, Australia, Japan, Korea, Sweden, Austria and Belgium.

Near time 10:25 Snelling says that "after 90,000 years there should be no radiocarbon left in dinosaur bones." Radiocarbon will still be present after 90,000 years. About one part in 53,000 of the original radiocarbon will remain. The calculation is 90,000 years divided by 5,700 years (the half-life of radiocarbon). This gives 15.7 half lives. Then, take 2 to the 15.7th power to get an answer of approximately 53,000 which is the fraction of initial radiocarbon that will remain -- one part in about 53,000.

I'm an atheist, and I like your videos. Everything must be questioned. The modern public's unquestioning acceptance of the dictates of 'scientific authority,' as revealed truth, has definitely become a faith-based religion. That doesn't mean your religion is true. But it does mean we shouldn't have faith in 'science,' if we're claiming not to be motivated by faith.
Science is so faulty, so corrupted these days, so enmeshed with politics and money, and yet still so ardently believed. The scientists occupy exactly the position of the medieval Catholic clergy: that of the possessors of unquestionable truth, to be received and accepted on their authority.
If you ask for evidence, you're considered a 'conspiracy theorist,' a term that is used to means roughly 'heathen' or 'blasphemer,' for doubting their revelations.

Good comment. Your approach makes me wonder if you are truly an atheist, or a sincere agnostic. Wouldn't you have to have conclusive proof that God doesn't (or can't) exist to be a atheist? Doesn't atheism require a faith step of its own? This is truly not meant to be a slam of you in any way - just questioning...
(For the record, I am a Christian, but not opposed to rigorous scientific method - just opposed to dogmatic science... and dogmatic religion that requires faith without reasoning.)

Accelerated decay means decay that was accelerated -- speeded up. It means decays rates would have been much faster in the past than they are today.

It's been evident that the issues are actually about the proof that there's a God...Men of learning and academic influence hate God.Why? Because it's a reaction that is spiritual... Just like Cain... When you are confronted with personal sinfulness and rebellion against the Law of Righteousness and Truth, the usual reaction is anger and denial...
I have been guilty of this very same thing..
God cannot ever be explained away by deceivers and proud liars who are claiming to be wise... It's foolishness with God...
Love... Can't touch it.Can't see it with the human eyes. Can't prove it even exist...Yet,songs and endless books and poems have been talking about it as long as writing and singing have existed...

So the question of heat was brought up that should have happened during accelerated decay. The answer was that since the radio halos are still there/visible, there must not have been a lot of heat produced. Do we know how it is possible to have a lot of accelerated decay without heat? Couldn't it also be evidence that this accelerated decay then did not happen? I'm a creationist myself, but I'm just trying to figure out how this data is interpreted.

What God did to the Earth is what any team of game developers do to their games. When they initialize the code of the game and the first landscapes are generated, they don't start off as swirling dust balls that take who knows how long to condense into a planet. The landscapes are already there, the mountains, the oceans, the large expanses of trees and plains and even cities are already there. To an NPC within the game, how would they know that their entire world is nothing but '1's and '0's and can come crashing down with just the flip of a switch? How would they know that outside of their experience, that their entire existence is not even close to being what their 'lore' says it is? Now make that 'server' the size of our Milky Way Galaxy, or even the size of our universe. How much more powerful is God than a mere team of game developers?

Good science merely studies the current-day behavior of matter. Bad science, hungry for followers and popularity, exceed the proper limits of good science and turns to speculation, theorizing, creating naturalistic, false narratives. These are to lead people astray. So good science and the testimony of God are always in alignment...bad science is an alternate philosophy, perhaps even followed as a religion by some.

Darth Quantum Well, nothing gets a calm discussion going like an ad hominem attack. I appreciate your willingness to watch the video - you did watch the video, correct? Otherwise, we have a problem of a different sort - namely integrity, but for the sake of discussion, let's say you did. So, what about my comment is erroneous? It would appear that you have, instead, proven my point. You obviously do not believe there is a God, and because of that stance, much is at stake. The first is this - meaning. Do you randomly assign meaning to the vacuous events of your life knowing that nothing you do will be remembered, nothing will matter? Second, where do you go to find purpose? Is attacking strangers on the internet your purpose? Or are you a self-proclaimed prophetic voice against any that would disturb your banal, futile existence by daring to speak of a world beyond this one? Third, how do you find value? Surely not in the silver and gold or stocks and bonds. We hold everything in this life only tenuously. There is coming a day, my friend, when you will as Shakespeare says, "shuffle off this mortal coil..." You will die. What then? Everything you have will go to someone else, everything, and you will go to the grave - at least your body will, but what about you? Will you disappear into oblivion? Will you cease to exist? You will be forgotten by even those who are close to you. There may or may not be a tombstone with your name on it. If yes, it will stand as a monument to nothingness, oblivion, a nihilistic eternity devoid of any meaning, purpose or value. In truth, it matters not whether you live a hundred years or die tomorrow in a car crash. This, my friend, is a best case scenario.
Let me paint two worse case scenarios. 1) You fill your days with hatred for any who would dare to believe in God. You are consumed with destroying people, institutions, even the remembrance of any that would name the name of Jesus. After your hands are covered with innocent blood and your deeds have filled history books with deeds that would cause Himmler to gasp in horror, you die as all have and all will. OR 2) You go about your days in an atheistic stupor arrogantly blasting any that speak in contradiction to your tenets of non-faith. After wandering about the planet looking here and there for vapid amusement, living in a drunken stupor or continuous futile endeavors, you die... Then you discover there is a God. You will be held accountable. There will be no place to hide. There will be no rock to crawl under. It will only be you and the God of this universe. How will you escape judgement? I tell you truthfully, you will not. It is at this time you will discover that you are an eternal being, and you have spent your life denying, defying the God who has made His presence known to any and all who look with an open heart and a thoughtful mind.

    • @pocadon
      @pocadon Před 4 lety +1

@Darth Quantum this is a childish argument that is arbitrary and nothing but "elephant hurling". You are attaching a belief system while standing on your own belief system which is very inconsistent. You don't even understand your own worldview but expect people to see you as more intelligent than a creationist. You also "forgot" to even try to invalidate anything put forth using the scientific method in this video because you probably didn't watch it. You don't even understand what evidence even is. Everyone has the same evidence but the interpretations are different. Then you try and separate yourself from the crowd by saying "we rationalists" without understanding you are being irrational by your own standards. You continue to use the word faith without the faintest clue your worldview has more faith than most. You have faith in evolution, probably the big bang and every other thing you believe in. The definition of faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something and a strongly held belief or theory. Huh? Sounds familiar.
Before you made this comment you should have understood logic and reason are impossible in a chaotic chance system. You actually have to "borrow" from the Christian worldview to use logic and reason. You also have to have a lot of FAITH to expect uniformity in nature to use the scientific method. I can't even speak beyond this topic because you have no foundation to stand on. I'm just here to show you how wrong and horribly bigoted you are. Your comments show your complete lack of understanding of creationism and even your own worldview. It would be much smarter if you figured out the foundation of your beliefs and basic scientific principles before commenting on something you don't understand. You can't be arbitrary, inconsistent and deny the perpetuity in nature and sound rational. God bless!
