I cannot believe people are still arguing over this after all these years lol. There are two different versions. The original version does not feature vocals from T-Boz or Left Eye. The version with the Lisa's rap has all 3 members, Kandi, Tiny and Debra. Jeeeeeez.
1:19 I just realized that Debra is singing the "oh yes, son, I'm talking to you" vocals and 1:36 Chilli is pretty much singing the "noooo scruuub" lines by herself. Also, they really don't sound that much alike. Completely different tones!
I'm just now noticing the differences between the tones of Debra & Chilli's voices. Debra at 1:19 mark, her voice sounds a bit softer than Chilli at 1:36. ( Chilli's voice has a bit of a huskier sounds to it when comparing it to Debra's. But with the music playing it bonds the differences together to where it's hard to isolate )
Actually u are incorrect. Kandi and Tiny are singing the background with Rozanda on lead. Proballt better thar way since Kandi and Tiny voices were more familiar with the song. Debra Killing usually just sang background on all the babyface produced cuts. Could have been a contracted label situation with La Face.
I knew of The Supremes using the Andantes to fill out vocals (particularly when Florence Ballard was gone), but I wasn’t aware of Killings until a few years ago.
@@ahleeyahvideos Tionne does sing on the rap version that has Lisa's rap and this sounds like the vocals from that one. You're right that she doesn't sing on the album version and you can tell the difference between the two. Listen closely to 1:58 - 2:00 "a scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me" the voice that is leading the melody is definitely T. On the album version, Chilli and Kandi lead the melody, Debra sings the bottom note (on this version as well), and Tiny sings the top note.
I want to retract my early post, I actually DID NOT get official confirmation from Debra & Leslie the pages were actually fan pages, & were NOT credible. BUT I did ask Carlton Lynn the one who actually recorded the track, & he confirmed T-Boz DOES SING ON NO SCRUBS, both versions. I have the screenshots to prove it. He said she sang the Hook background vocals & that her vocals were stacked with Debra & Chilli, hence why they are so well blended.
He probably mixed the vocals differently for each version because the album version sounds “cleaner” than the video version. The backgrounds, especially where Lisa’s rap was suppose to be sounds very “perfect” and the video version sounds more authentic. Thanks for the info tho!
When I bought this tape when it came out T-boz wasn't on the background vocals according to the liner notes. I do know they rerecorded their masters before the "TLC" album came out.
I definitely hear T-Boz stacked in here, is it just me? She is not credited on the album version liner notes. I know there is more than one version of the vocal out there.

T-Boz is not on the song at all. She lip syncs in the video and that's it. Background vocals are done by tiny chilli kandi and Debra
