TBF if you don't take his persona into account, the dude has been an inch away from championship multiple times, other than the Leon fight he's done great every time, he's a really high level fighter. I don't at all think he deserves a titleshot again, but it's not as farfetched as people like to make it out to be. He's inactive, not bad. He isn't clearly out of the picture in skill, and has a huge draw, which is more important than we like to admit, me included.
I'd love to see him against Belal after a fight or two to actually be a competitor again, which he isn't gonna do so I'm ranting for nothing, but it would be a good match stylistically, both are known for nonstop pressure and are great wrestlers.

As good as Shavkat is I think he needs one more fight. He has not fought anyone in the top 5 or previous world champion which would very much boost his profile. The UFC also need to be able to sell the fight.

I think shavkat deserves it, but i wouldnt be mad if it was usman. Usman (& volk) was the hero of that pay per view for steppin up on short notice so that loss shouldnt be counted against him. Plus, they were fighting up a weight class.

Chael kinda full of it in this video, no one is wanting Kamaru to get a shot before Shavkat. If Shavkat can maintain his finish streak all the way until taking the belt, that’s one of the most, if not the most, dominant run to the title in the sports history

However neither one would gain any fan confidence that they can beat Belal or should be next.
One of then has to fight a obvious good ranked fighter and snatch that clout from him. Colby or Usman with that shine will then coast to a title shot.

Let Usman have a title shot based off the current grouping of the top welterweights and based off his past accomplishments.. winning obviously continues his story (well earned) and a loss to Belal for the belt would show his 170 journey is over.
Either way you shuffle in the new lads once Usman gets one more shot.

I don’t mind who they pick, quite frankly I think they have more options in that weight class than people realize. JDM I think is not only main event ready but I think he’s not a bad pick to be next, although i will say I wouldn’t hate a #1 contender fight between him and rhakmonov either. And same for rhakmonov, the resume alone speaks for itself he should definitely get a shot. Colby works kinda just by default because no one else will sell a fight like Colby does even if the masses hate him. Usman also works because you could almost use Usman as a set up for a winner between JDM and Rhakmonov, if usman does beat Belal and take the strap you use one of the young guys like JDM or Rhakmonov, or (as much as I don’t like him) Ian Garry too as Usmans first defense and if they win that young guy wins they look great because they beat one of the welterweight goats.
The ufc has a ton of options for welterweight I think they’re just going to sit and wait to see how things pan out and how the fighters pair up with each other as callouts start happening.
The best usman should get is a title contender fight with Gary. Then whoever wins that fights the winner of Belal vs shavkat. Leon needs a couple good wins before he’s in the talk again. Usman has to beat at the least Gary first.

You cannot take a guy 0-3 in his last 3 who’s had his shot and his second chance, and jump him over 3 different undefeated prospects who haven’t gotten theirs. Any win and Usman a back up there, but he needs 1.

As a long reigning champion who was very active, Usman should get the chance now, so he has a chance to regain the belt and retire. Putting Shavkat in between will take another year off someone who is already old

I hate people sometimes. Usman had a great run as champion, and a huge win streak. He lost to Leon twice. He was whooping his ass in the first one and got caught. He lost the second one pretty soundly. And then he lost what I think was a split decision against Chimaev. The fact that he is 37 is a reason to let Belal have this fight now, because it doesn't seem he has completely fallen off, but he isn't going to ever be this young again and a win over Usman for Belal will never mean more for his legacy than right now.
Belal becomes champ and the world shrugs.

As a real MMA fan I could care less to see Conor fight . He’s popular when the casual fans I don’t think he’s as in demand as you present him to be . The UFC is cooked . It’s a popularity game now no longer about who deserves the fight anymore. It’s 😞
