Do your Midge Flies have a very fine green stripe on the abdomen? Here in North East Pa. whether the Midge bodies are black,gray or brown they all have the thin green stripe..I use a single strand of grey ghost pearl flash to make this stripe. Ours have this in the Dun and Emerger stage...
Ken, great pattern, especially for the Frying Pan. What sizes do you tie? I assume these are tied very small, but does the time of year or water temperature dictate the size or is it pretty consistent? Thanks, John
Gonna give this pattern a shot on the San Juan, another notorius midge dominate tailwater.
Got the bug again. Love that kind of release. I am going to follow yours and some others lead, and tie these and fish them for awhile.

is this a dry or wet fly?
what type of hook and size were you using?
Fish on the frying pan are picky…just use a 18 or 20 comparadon
