Great lesson. Tying a fly AND explaining how you observed the natural to design the fly and how to fish it is the 100% solution. I think many of the video authors have no idea of what the fly is intended to mimic and how to fish them. I hope to fish 11 mile someday!
I love this man's flies, and I love to tie small flies. I do tie some big ones for other species of fish. Thanks Ed for your books, All the best to you and yours. Sean
Great looking pattern Ed! Looks like you fish Bamboo as do I. Just caught an 18" Wild Beaverkill brown on a 22 pheasant tail this Sunday during a size 20/22 BWO Hatch. Caught him on my Bill Critchfield Gillum Special 7'9" for a 5/6 line.

Ed's book "Fishing Small Flies" is my fishing bible....I love this guy and this pattern.
👍👍
Yup, it’s all about sight fishing.
Curious. What size hook was he using for the tie?
Tricos on my home river are 22 max, 24 perfect.
As I recall, #24 was what Ed was fishing...but he may have tied a #22
Does anyone know what tippet size he uses to fish this? 6 or 7 X?
ugsisr - either one, I expect...
