HOW does argick manage to keep all his words straight, speaking so fast, while speedrunning a game? absolutely losing it at him saying "i'm using the speed shoes music as a cue to know how long i have" while speaking, like can you really hear it under yourself??
Yes! I use a lot of audio cues in the run to know when to do things but I also have muscle memory helping me. Commentary is the hardest part as I wanna keep it informative but simple while also making it fun and because Sonic is so far I've gotta be fast too to keep up. See once everything clicks, it's SOOOO good.
I'd like to drop one of my favorite quotes from Dragonforce guitarist Herman Li (from a reaction video on someone playing Through the Fire and Flames on a flute) here, because I think it applies equally to this video: "Dude, take a breath you're gonna die!"
Everytime I see this game, like an amnesiac, I forget about it almost immediately. I don't know why because it's an amazing game. The things they managed to make the Doom engine do is absurd as is the fact that this game that initially released in 1998 is still under active development in 2024. Sonic fan-game makers are the most insane bunch.
Would've been great if my first ever donation was read during the run, but it was a bit late into anyhow. Regardless, that was some amazing, Sonic speed commentary!
