Living in Tokyo, i bought mine with a 28mm 2 months ago for not so expensive. Also bought last month the 90mm for 110 dollars. This camera is just awesome and fit me well ! Like you said, when you shooting with it there is something really pleasant !

For those who want to repair Contax cameras and do not mind sending it internationally, the BEST repair shop in the world for all Contax is Repair
Service Suwa in Japan. They are the former repair service people from original Contax team at manufacturer Kyocera with legitimate original parts. Yes, it is expensive and may be difficult to work with international service shop but if you want perfect repair with best available stock genuine parts, Suwa is the place. I recently repaired my limited Contax T3 black. They repaired it back to perfection.
I have had absolutely zero problems with autofocus on my G1. Also, the Carl Zeiss lenses are the sharpest lenses I have ever used. The photos from this camera look beautiful.
Gas stations might be a film photographer cliché, but those shots were still fire!
2:15 Absolutely! Sometimes what doesn't work for other people, might work for you. I always reserve final judgement on something until I've tried it myself.

Got this camera for the exact same reason, it’s so much easier to just have when chillin vs going out to shoot specifically. I love this thing, and the lenses are 🔥🔥🔥. If anyone is going to get one, get the green label, it allows the entire array of lenses

When I want to shoot landscape/scenic with a 35mm camera, the Contax G1 with the 28mm lens is my first choice.

About to take my first endeavor into film with my family old 1980 Minolta Hi Matic AF2. Super stoked to try it and hopefully get that feel I got when I looked at photos back from my childhood. Now the real job now is to dig through family photos to find some negatives and find out what type of film they used! Thank you for all your videos man. I'm an aspiring DJ of 2pyrs who just got into photography back in Nov. 2018. thanks for making this video I've been contemplating buying the G1 for months but my friend bought a contax t2 and it literally broke within 24 hours and we couldn't find anyone to fix it which made me stay completely away from contax cameras. going to purchase my g1 as soon as possible now!

lol just wait, you'll get a G2 body. I sold some gear to buy a G1 with 3 lens. loved it so much that the better autofocus of the G2 was worth saving up for for me.
I own the G2 and I love it too! So easy to use which makes it perfect for an everyday-camera

Leica minilux has some stigma too.
Bought one in 2009, used it and abused it for so many years-finally in October of 2019, E02.
Personally, I wouldn’t say the minilux is “prone to break” but it has that negativity. I actually want to try the G1 too, thanks for the video

Hey Vuhlandes, I don't know why I'm actually going through with posting this comment... First, I feel like your visuals (specifically in regards to your CZcams visuals) are unique. Your color palate is obviously unique, but even how you frame yourself in the moments where someone is filming you, is very picture like. A lot of CZcamsrs are in the center, have these black bars on the top and bottom, same color grade, and all. However, when watching your video (this one) I was truly taken aback at how calming, and real your videos felt.
Now, I haven't watched ALL your videos. In fact, I probably only have seen 3. But I have two simple criticisms (one is more an observation: (1) I feel like in this specific video (talking about this review genre) the talking felt drawn out. This being it felt like two long has passed before getting the real information. I feel if it's simply you saying why YOU got it, and no reasons being talked about on the camera specifications side, people won't see this video as more informative than say Potato Jet (and that can be your goal for sure, I'm just rambling). However, I also can understand how this type of video can bring in the views which obviously is important for an underrated photographer. (2) I feel like I would love to see more of when you're doing trampoline jumps, or just those day to day. Also, keep in mind I haven't really seen a lot of your videos, but I do plan to right after this comment. In any way, that's your edge. These other CZcamsrs copy and paste review videos, but no one can copy and paste your experiences. And I have truly never been amazed by the video quality and visuals other than you and MKBHD. So, yeah.

Loved this one i was on the fence about the g1 for years. Walked into my local camera shop yesterday to trade in a lens and mint one was sitting in the case for cheap with a zeiss 28mm on it. Copped it on a trade. Thanks for you do bro!
ya man... the G2 only 5 or 6 years ago you could get for 400 bucks. The G1 body was a ridiculous $100 dollars. I just don't think there was much hype around these back then. Everyone was concentrating on the Contax T2 and the T3 or the Yashica, or whatever. Well, game is up now, these are not cheap cameras anymore.
I have the same setup I was hesitant as well but I am really impressed with the images I get out of mine I went and got the 90mm f2.8 this is one of my best cameras wont be selling this one good review
A lot of people will stay away from Contax because of the electronics. If the price was a little lower it would be less risk and I would definitely get a contax camera
I use a pentax k1000 I shoot mostly in the royal oak area
I’m glad you’re doing a video about this camera Which I started to purchase years ago back in the 20s century at the time it was between three and $5000 I am not sure because I was also shooting with the Pentax 6 x 7 and the Cannon top of the line films camera.
As a concert photographer do you think the g2 would be better for me since the autofocus is faster? or is it not that noticeable? I am so happy I came across this video, I have been searching for someone to explain the Contax to me and I always trust you.

Very informative video, thank you! I recently bought a Contax G2 kit with the body, 45mm lens and the TLA 200 flash. I'm looking for a sturdy camera bag on the smaller side with nice padding that I could fit the camera in with the mounted lens, the flash, as well as some rolls of film. Do you have any suggestions?

Have you ever considered trying out the Ricoh GR series cameras. They are really cool and super compact. Whenever you have the time take a look at the GR1 and GR10. It is basically the same lens on two different bodies, the latter being simpler and more affordable.

I forgot to mention the Ricoh GR21 which has a 21mm lens, but it costs a lot more.
