- We're recycling 280,000 tons of asphalt and concrete from the existing interstate to produce NDDOT Salvage Base. The 100% recycled aggregate will be placed on the road grade as the foundation for new concrete to be poured, connecting the cities of Fargo an Grand Forks North Dakota. The two primary benefits of crushing the old interstate into base for the new segment are:
1. Reduced environmental impact by not having to mine new aggregates
2. Tremendous cost savings be reducing transport cost across the project.
Projects like these have become commonplace when working with DOT's and present a very sustainable option to maintain our nations infrastructure.

As an asphalt guy and a drone owner, this would pretty well combine two things I love doing 😂
Love it
Awesome set up
Thank you
I work at a small ledge quarry in Maine, would love to have on of those big stackers. Good vid. Like your content
Stackers make a huge difference, allowing us to pile a lot of material in a smaller footprint! Thanks for watching
I wonder how one starts a company that does this
Most guys starting out today would get a small project and deploy a rental fleet and build from there. In our case, we've been in the aggregate processing space since the early 1960's
Nice operation!
Thanks JV!
My question is you don't have many problems with ripped belts on the jaw from metal being stuck still in the jaw as it falls to the Lower belt?
Not too many issues on this job. Material is prepped well. Other jobs have been a problem.
That’s interesting I have not heard of mixing concrete and asphalt together. How does that hold up on a road?
fairly well. It is compacted and treated similar to gravel base & has a similar lifespan
Spruce Valley did the same thing on the hwy 2 project between Fosston and hwy 59.
its becoming a common way to rebuild!
How loud are 1 of those crushers and is there much dust comes of them or will the water jets kill all the dust
The water neutralizes the dust, the noise off put by a crusher at distance is less than a lawnmower
I just ask cause there’s a company here in Ireland and they are trying to get planning for a concrete crushing plant but locals are saying that there is excessive dust for the crusher and the noise from it is louder than a jumbo jet taking off . Just wanted to know from someone who is dealing with crushers everyday what the real answer is thanks . And how far of a distance from the crusher till it’s like a lawnmower
The uninformed public always seems to have strong opinions that impede progress on permitting.
On our most recent noise sampling at one of our granite crushing operations , noise averaged a 30db 90% of the time at 500-700 feet. There would be occasional peaks ranging from/50-90db for short durations when striking the blocks. However these were all within the thresholds of our state permitting allowance
In terms of dust or fugitive emissions, we conduct visual opacity testing on equipment and add dust mitigation via water spray where needed
If people would only watch the right vid they would lean how metal is removed nice
Yes
Hi
haaaaaaaay
Why music has to be so loud and weird
Sorry
Music obnoxious and annoying
Sorry
