Holy cow, 92.3 WCOL is the big country station here. So whoever owned that one nugget lived in or around Columbus, OH in the US. That thing's been around the world.
3:25 I grew up with these. They were like $3 each and came with a pair of earphones and my school would always confiscate them only for me to get another one the next day 😭
We bought one for a friend. And he didn't use it so it was chilling in our room in dormitory. One interesting thing that it could be used as a sound card with PC. I can't remember if it stereo or not.
Technology Connections has a great multi part series on the downfall of RCA. It boiled down to they tried to invent a vinyl video record way before the market was ready, and ended up with a product that didn't work, nobody wanted, and few people could afford. Which is a pity since they were basically the driving force behind a huge number of television innovations.
RCA also made the radiation-hardened processor that's in the Voyager probes, the farthest reaching human-made machines in the solar system. And now their brand is slapped on cheap Chinese made electronics like HDTV antennas and landline phones. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
I love how much content is coming out all of a sudden, how he just dropped all of this content all at once. being sick and quarantined was really getting to me (ik, most ppl are out of quarantine but I got covid AGAIN D:
I hope the person who owned the fm recording nugget sees this … those dog pics probably give back memories I hope that dog is still alive and well cuhz those pics look over ten years okd
I just learnt that rca went bankrupt! honnestly now that I think about it, growing up poor in the 2010's means my home is filled with very old things from the 80's-90's that were toughed out as long as possible and a lot of those brands I got used to seeing are probably gone now... I may even have a couple of rare antiques in there!
As someone who works with old tech, I wonder how many of these nuggs WOULC actually work if given a long time to charge, cause especially with these older tech batteries, if they fully discharge, they can seriously take close to 24 hours sometimes to get charging again to where they work, then work fine afterwards. (And I don't just mean the battery went dead, I mean it got too weak to work at all, and THEN the small residual charge went away too over time, which is just a new level of dead for a battery)
My family has a phone that kid uses and sometimes it just turns off. I put it on charge and after some days it comes alive with 69% charged. It's battery is so bad that it looses charge when changed and screen is lit.
I have an old dell inspiron that didn't last, then I plugged it in for half a day and then the 15 year old battery is able to edge out about an hour of life
I love lucky dip. Don't know why but I think I love mystery behind every dip. Does it work? What model it is? What on them? What music that person prefers on that period of time? And so on! It's the best!
RCA has done more, man. They were responsible for the audio recording used by Disney from Snow White until The Great Mouse Detective. They also provided ALL of the communication software used by Disney World when it opened and even sponsored the first Space Mountain rollercoaster.
Please can someone refresh my memory? What was the video where Dankpods was showing mp3/mp4 nuggets and one of them was apple device that looked like iphone 6?
Those Philips mp3s I used to have those when Iwas younger I swear just leave them on the charger for awhile and they will eventually turn on like maybe 20mins or something maybe longer
4:10 My grandparents own an RCA Smart TV, but it could be a rebranded TV as I saw one with an identical remote from ''Anteq''. RCA is also quite a big music label, right? 🤔
Do you know the biggest secret about the transmission from the moon? The transmission was being sent to Houston (I think) but everything transmitted on Earth was actually just a camera pointed at a monitor at the Johnson space center! They were airing nothing but a daisy chained video feed!

Bobby layman passed away almost 10 years ago too. Probably back when WWCD was 101.1mhz cd101. Those were the days...
I was also going to comment that as well. I heard that a lot when I did listen to it. The RCA has really been all over.
SAME. how'd it get in austalia?
@@surmello2026 he buys the big bulk lots of mp3 players for parts from all over the world i assume
Gotta love WCOL
Imagine putting pictures of your dog on your mp3 player and then years later see them in a Dankpods video
that radio recording on the rca was from Columbus Ohio !
Crazy how this mp3 player has travelled more than me
That first one's library going from Metallica, Rammstein and Eminem to Toploader's Dancing In The Moonlight is great, love musical range.
Rammstein is a great band
Can relate
This is 2006 in a nutshell
the "AAA" scream always gets me.
Damn. You got an American nug! That FM recording is of a country station in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
The doggo pictures alone were worth the dip!

Hope you recover, these new covid variants are no joke
@@reshuram4353 luckily I seem to have gotten a weaker variant but I have a weak immune system so its still hell, thanks for the kind words
Get well soon! ❤

Dont let the RCA and its Memories fade, save those pictures so the doggo can live on.
I feel like everytime he says 'best nugget dip ever' ... Phillips.

5:46 the classic "ButtDial" nevers gets old
DAMN LAST YEAR'S NUGGET DIP.
oh, wait
I would love a series where he tries to fix some of the nuggets from the lucky dip (if he doesn't grit them).
Honestly, most of them are just junk. iPod was truly revolutionary at it's time.

The dog on the RCA is absolutely precious
Love you guys
So when I saw the black philips it unlocked a memory that I actually had one in high school
I had one of those philips ones, and I loved it.
This video us a treasure

My first MP4 player was a Philips. Slightly smaller but same design as those lol
I’d love to know how that puppo is doing now 😂

Aaaw i wanted to hear the mamas cat meow.mp3😢.
that RCA mp3 player may of came from Ohio USA i looked up the radio station id from the clip you showed from the recording on it
those Phillips nuggets must of been very popular in the areas you bought from XD
A brand neeew nuuuuug. Hasn't been a nugget lucky dip for far to long.
Please can someone refresh my memory? What was the video where Dankpods was showing mp3/mp4 nuggets and one of them was apple device that looked like iphone 6?

A brand new nug!
quality soldering on that brand new nug that is. The headphone jack flaked off without even damaging the board when you wrenched it open

You're now obliged to make a small shrine for that doggo
dank mate we should play rust together
The dogs name is jamees lol 6:50
Kinda sad RCA fucked off. They made damn good 5.1 speakers for computers

Happy to see Rammstein

Nug translates to question, good to know.

Between no gloves and too much gloves ‼😁
Rca is containing someone's memory hope they find out about this video
