#SpiceGirls #WannaBe #Cover #PMJ - Hudba
They look like a real life vintage version of The Powerpuff Girls
And yet they also look like three Spice Girls (Baby, Ginger, and Posh (yes I know this and I'm not ashamed (yes I am))).
That's very perceptive of you, have a lolli 🍭
Or Totally Spies 😂
You think Posh? I was thinking Scary cause scary always wore the leopard print. She does look more like posh, but her outfit is styled morel like she should be Scary.
TOTALLY SPIES THOUGH
Can we talk about how happy the guitarist is? Just look at his face! He's having the time of his life.
I would be supee honored to be on PMJ
I guess why : his guitar part is much more interresting than the original one ! 🙂
Thank you for shifting my attention at him!
We saw them live last night, he's recently just got married to a PMJ member (not in this video) - she sang a song to him while he played and she ended up crying with happiness. I nearly cried myself 😂
@@helloflesh3367 Ooooh ! so sweet ! 🙂
This has to be one of the best ones they've ever done. The arrangement, harmonies and complexity as well as the choreography all the way down to the wardrobe with the vintage Baby, Ginger and Posh looks. Plus the smiles being cracked by the musicians tops it all off. Outstanding all round.
Mmmm note sure it’s their best.
I was thinking it was one of the lesser productions. I guess each to their own :)
@@TCGill What's your favourite?
@@jdpatrick1106 I noticed that their hips moved a bit!
I'm pretty sure the far right one is supposed to be Scary, cause of the leopard print
Yesss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!💪👏👏👏👏👏
This is pure talent right there. I'm simply in love with this cover.
Agreed! Also I see the Professor in your profile pick, a person of culture.
The Professor is back and everything is A-okay!
This is brilliant and I love that the vintage costumes match each Spice Girls’ style!
I noticed that too. That's probably exactly what they would've looked like, if they had been around back then.
Didn't think I'd see you here!
But I don't see any representation of Sporty Spice.
@@mikcomai This is no place for people called 'Mel'
I love it when you sing as Ursula (Poor Unfortunate Souls) and Gaston.
*I DID NOT KNOW I NEEDED THIS IN MY LIFE, BUT PMJ DELIVERED.*
Happy to deliver 😉 Glad you liked it Sidney!
Everyone liked it ❤️
@@postmodernjukebox please make "We are Young" by Fun. Jazzy Cover with trumpets and stuff. Swingy.
Is it something you need? Really, really need?
Relatable
There's an important artistic decision that goes into simply choosing the genre for each cover, and that can't be understated. This was the perfect choice for this song.
Come at me but i feel like i’d rather listen to this than the original 😂
@@lakesiderailwayco2484 That's not a controversial thing to say at all. haha
This has to be the best one ever. The arrangement. Harmonies everything was so so so good and in true spirit of that era
The harmonies were super-tight, the individual melodies were absolutely on point, and the singers were obviously having a lot of fun! Even the musicians in the background, while it appeared they were trying to be serious, were occasionally cracking smiles, which means everyone was having a good time. I was already in a pretty good mood when I started listening; but by the time the song finished, I was positively happy and energized! (Oh, and I think I'm in love with Sara; but don't tell her that, I'd be too embarrassed.)
Crystal clear and sparkling. 🙄 🥂
Your cute where you from
"My precious time" first time around did it for me, like love at first sight.. Sarah you're ♥️♥️😘 a lot
I've seen this video approximately 10 times still can't sing the harmony line without getting confused even kept the pop bridge in case someone close minded is miraculously annoyed by this version.... I don't remember hating a swing ever, just shake on to the beat y'all
😂❤ I think Sara should know and I am sure she would be happy
@Glen Iverson: I'm certainly not an expert..so with that in mind, I may be wrong. However, I do believe she may be able to simply read the comment, thus exposing your crush. Hopefully I'm wrong! However, your secret is safe with ME!
I found this jewel while on quarantine... The kind of vibes that makes everything going on in the world bearable. Kudos to the creators of this music!
“Found this (...) while on quarantine“ - a sentence that before March 2020, would have caused frowned faces, making people wonder, what weird things the person might have been up to. But now... crazy times.
Hope you are well! Best wishes from German 💖
On day 1 of quarantine here in NZ, just found this too :)
Snazzy Quizzes channel brought me here.
Stay safe and healthy🙏☺
Day 5 -Hungary
This is one of the finest covers I have ever heard. Turned a tune I never could stand into a piece of art I listen to over and over. More, please.
This is the *only* way I will listen to that song.❤
I expected it to be better than the original... but not on that scale. First time I hear the qualities in this song.
Exactly. Well said
2yrs later and this STILL has me in a chokehold
Top 3 PMJ arrangements ever 🔥🔥
This is a perfect Umbrella Academy soundtrack. Imagine the killing spree with this song playing in background 😂
YES!
OMG YESSSS
Hellmouth is my academy
Truly!!!
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES OMG
Oh god, how many takes to get this? Am I the only one impressed by the level of difficulty of this cover/arrangement
no, it looks like plenty of people agree with you :) I'm an 80's/90's girl and does it replace the original, no, but do they kick butt, hell yea
I know what it takes.. TALENT. Fabulous. They are just fabulous.
hardest part was probably not singing it as the original and stick to the style. wow
One, maybe two.
Don't confuse takes with rehearsal time - but also don't forget you're dealing with world-class talent here.
No
I.... can't..... I have no words to describe how incredible this sounds.
I've been singing american jazz songs for twelve years, and let me tell that this is just brilliant.
I love how the singers were 40's versions of Baby, Ginger and Posh Spice.
I totes thought Sara was Scary spice because of the animal print. I think you might be right though.
@@emolyemu89 It's the dress style and hair. But I could be wrong as well. That's the fun of this video.
Lol conglomerate brunette
With a hint of scary spice in the animal print and a subtle nod to sporty spice in that these thre actually are musically talented.
Emmie Lou actually she s posh with some hint of scary! But I believe posh is predominant
It’s really difficult to recreate the energy that the Spice Girls put into this song which is what makes it the great pop tune it is, that’s why every single act that’s tried to cover it failed to match the original, but this cover does something completely new with it and nails it! What a fresh and fun take on one of the best pop songs in history!
Have you heard Ramstein's cover?
@@Alsebra Thank you for introducing me to Rockapella! They are awesome!!!
interesting to see how the song would’ve sounded if it came out during that time. its Definitely the best cover
The "slam, slam slam slam" interlude is iconic
Good God, that was great!!!!! The harmonies make me want to weep. With envy.
This version makes it sound like the Spice Girls' version was the cover, and this one was the real original.
Dude I can see someone really thinking that.
Random person: The Spice Girls were OK but the original is the bee's knees!
Other random person: The Spice Girls WAS the original
Wysteria Sparkle Hell, I'm starting to think that!
I think it’s better than the original:)
100%
From now on... THIS IS THE ORIGINAL !!
I love how you picked a blonde, a redhead, and a brunette to match the Andrews Sisters! And that wink to Mr. Sandman was perfect.
Posh Spice, Ginger Spice and Baby Spice ;)
More like the Powerpuff Girls in Vintage.
It's surprising how they make these covers so realistic, as if they were the originals
Once again a work of deep mastery, if not outright genius. This is what culture should be in the twenty-first century. Well done Therese, Sara, Olivia, Scott and the rest of PMJ!
Didn't know making things softer could be so jazzy.
Anything is possible with a little swing.
@@MasonKLutz Putting this on my business cards.
@@MasonKLutz Great motto along with "What ever it is, it's gotta swing".
That's the power of Spice Girl!
They usually do sow it down don’t they. I think they’ve only sped up a few to make them jazzier. Like Umbrella and Stacy’s Mom.
Had no idea the lyrics went “slam your body down and wind it all around”. Always thought it went “slambidambidam and one it all around”.
maxtreme225 hahahahaha!! I know, right!
best comment!
I did. I also tried doing it, but it felt a bit weird. Especially as I heard it in the supermarket.
That's exactly what I thought. You even spelled it perfectly! 👍🤣🤣
You and half of the World!
they did it with so much class.. i love how she's holding her sucker on the left the whole time.. this whole thing is so perfect and original.
Perfectly exhibited! The voice command, style, timing, and the classic blending of every beat and melody. Awesome teamwork guys👏😀💕
Can’t believe they made a pop song cover outta this
The original was still a good Pop song. I grew up with my idols the Beatles who were masters of ultimate Pop songs & not a disgrace. Where are the great Pop songs now? And not since the Beatlemania days the Spice Girls became a worldwide phenomena. One publication mentioned the Beatles in '63: John Paul George & Ringo & that stuck, we now ALL knew them & no one else got that printed logo. Snap! late 90s a newspaper decided to give each Spice Girls a nickname: Scary Spice Baby Spice.. Bingo! Like my parents I now knew them all & begrudgingly didn't not like WannaBe. It was nicely recorded by the Spices. I tip my hat.
Technically, this is still pop for the time period it's set in.
It was always a pop song. Just a different genre and time period.
Good thing, Spice Girls did a good cover.
Every single person's performance in this is so flawless it physically hurts me.
This cover sounds more self-confident and mature than the original, like "honey, I know you don't like it, but you better listen to me 😊" and I like it very much ❤
This was Incredible!!!!!!😍
The singers are channelling Baby, Ginger, and Posh.
The leopard print reminds me more of Scary but both can work
...more likely Patty, Maxine and LaVerne ^^
Except the redhead here can actually sing. Lol
I thought they were Baby Ginger and Mel C (Sporty). Posh can't do much except point. ;-)
@@Chrvinsk I wanted to name our canaries Patty Maxine and LaVerne but my hubby said no.
Did my workout to this song, felt like captain america
Hahahahahaha blessed by this image
I cant help I laughed too hard for this comment !
Oh jesus, i rarely burst out laughing... Have to wipe tears now...
Please tell me there was prancing. 🤞
@@telectronix1368 Forgive me, but there was no prancing
Just can't get enough of this. Booked to see Postmodern in Liverpool in April and so looking forward to it.
I would never think Wannabe could be covered in that style, amazing!
😆😆 Love that they’re each dressed as a vintage version of the spice girls too! 🤣🤣🙌🏾🙌🏾 Baby, Ginger + Posh! 🥳💃🏾❤️
Yes! I caught that too! Love it 😍
It's actually vintage Scary Spice, not Posh.
Love the reference to the flag dress!
I think its supposed to to scary spice not posh cause of the Leppard print
Ha I never would've expected to see your comment whitney!!
This is my absolute favourite kind of PMJ cover: where you can tell real thought has gone into exactly what style it should be converted into. Taking this girl power anthem and transplanting it to this iconic girl group of the 40s is inspired. I love a 1920s jazz cover as much as the next person, but these kinds of covers really make the PMJ concept sing.
Never thought I would be so delighted by a Spice Girls's song.
I just smiled all the way through this ❤
Silver lining of COVID-19 quarantining: binge-watching CZcams and coming across magical gems like this. PRICELESS.

The “Slam” bit was A-MAZING

Just fabulous. Tricky harmonies performed beautifully. With such style too. Love it.

literally
Lol
Best trio video yet, and that includes "All About That Bass." My goodness. Those harmonies were so tight, and was that Therese on the whistle tones? And that arrangement was so clever.
Thanks, Christopher 😊Therese, Olivia and Sara killed it!
Absolutely! Those harmonies.... PMJ has no ceiling! :D
@@jasonwtheis5921 I'm starting to believe that about the ceiling. Scott keeps getting better and better, and it's almost scary at this point.
@@postmodernjukebox Yes, they did. And how did Adam get the day off? He never gets a day off!
Это очаровательно и так аутентично. Замечательная аранжировка
I'm blown away by the standard of musicality and creativity of everyone involved in this project, I've been a gigging musician for over 30 years and never really heard anyone like this
So fun! Reminds me of when Christina Aguilera did this for "Candyman."
"Candyman" wasn't a cover though, it was the original version and co-written by Aguilera.
Jave sort of. The lyrics are original but the tune is lifted from the Andrews Sisters ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’. It’s not acknowledged but if you listen to both songs, the similarities are obvious.
@@callymac182 damn, my world just expanded a bit because of you! thanks
Clever interpretation but most impressed by the witty costuming.
Ikr? It's so goooddd
Their look blows me away!
Agreed. They look amazing. :)
(Except the victory curls. But those are hard to do, so I get it.)
I can't take my eyes off the almost-a-Union-Flag patterned skirt...
the way they breakdown the note and the alternate improve is outstanding..wow
What an exciting time it was!!!
I had heard of the elusive and mythical 'perfect harmony', hearing is believing. Stunning.
yep! These professional singers are just so much better than the originals!
@Neon Weaver , in a singer and can't hear stuff ups :'(
I want to improve aural perception though, and also have crappy earphones 😹
This demonstrates how unusual the melody, rhythm and structure of this song is. It really can't quite be made to sound authentically from the era of this style without being significantly altered. Great performance!
2:04 the rap part was wildin all over the place (but in a cool way)
@@user-iu3ii8sq6t yes I think they did a great job. They absolutely had to change some of the notes to make it work, and even then it still does things The Andrews Sisters just never did. I really like both The Andrews Sisters and this song. Having them put together like this is just amazing.
I know it's a very divisive song, but Wannabe's production and composition really do not get enough recognition. The fact that the Spice Girls wrote it in 15 minutes makes it even more technically intriguing.
And yet it was written by the girls in an hour
@@AndyBHome Interesting comments. What aspects of the notes of the original had to be changed to make it work in this style. And what things did it do that The Andrews Sisters never did?
What a wonderful arrangement. And were do they find such lovely girls with unbelievable voices. Truly magnificent.
I love the Andrew Sisters, and I LOVE this version of the Spice Girl’s song done this way!
i'll tell my kids this was spice girls: the origins, before the 90's remake
😄
How mean. Love that

;)
No, tell them this is the 40ies original and the Spice Girls just covered it...😉
Sara Niemietz at the very beginning -- I'm not used to her singing that high, and I had to rewind to make sure what I was seeing was real. She never ceases to be amazing...
Winston Ho I actually checked my playback speed!
Yea man i love her. After seeing her cover of "i want you to want me" i was hooked. She's my favorite. Definitely a fan. she's the best. You have to check out her "i want you to want me" if you haven't already.
Amen to this thread, Sara is extraordinary and I love every cover she's in! Her voice texture is so unique too, which just adds to her magic. Her solo work is awesome, I adore her cover of "At Last"
Feeling big time love here. Thankssss
Thank you, Sara. :-)
I also love the nod to the costumes of the original ladies.

Her hands, yes, but her face! So expressive. Mesmerizing eyes too.
You just want that Lollipop, admit it!
Gold version!!!
This is the craziest thing I have ever heard. I love it.
It is obvious you three were having a ball. The choreography is snappy, your harmonies are tight, and you put enough oomph in it to get us off our feet and begging for more. It's amazing how at home you are with so many genres. For were a few seconds I had a little Manhattan Transfer running through my head. Plus, to have SB and company right there giving their all... well, it's history in the making...literally. Brilliant!
This actually sounds like it could have been on the radio when this style was new
Not really. Songs of this style were backed by full "big" bands in the 40s, brass heavy. Not this minimal jazz style - which is more modern.
I´m in tears. This is so brilliant. Beautiful Ladies and Scott the mastermind... Kudos!
Ну что сказать?! Шедевр 🌷
Yes! This is amazing! Their voices match so well, their hairstyles are so creative! I love how they look like they represent (left to right) Baby Spice, Ginger Spice and Posh Spice :D
