The smell of fresh laundry, the hypnotic sound of falling rain, and the hum of dryers soothe you. You enjoy tea and fresh pastries at this convivial gathering of unique New Yorkers before you return to your dream apartment with bedding that smells clean and is still warm from the dryer. You make your bed and snuggle with a pet as you fall asleep to the sound of falling rain. It's time to dream away.

What a find...I can only laugh that I have stumbled across this as I try to take a nap and recover from last night's insomnia, because just yesterday I had this out of the blue feeling of serious gratitude for washing my laundry. Long story short, I hadn't been able to wash my laundry for some time and then I had to suddenly leave my home the day before yesterday. Most of the clothes I packed to take with me were dirty. As I'm in a time of transition without knowing what lies ahead, simply having clean clothes felt like my favorite thing on the horizon.
I normally hate going to laundromats, but the gratitude overrode that dread this time. And I ended up having a great experience there, meeting all kinds of characters, like in your story! Then I did a gratitude exercise I enjoy, where for about a minute I say thank you to each item that I touch and recognize the good in it. I did this while I refolded and packed my laundry back at my temporary home. My gratitude for clean laundry feels as though it's setting me up for a peaceful transition period. (You know how powerful gratitude can be.) I am part way through the sleep story now and hope to zonk out before I get to the end. :) But the theme feels very soothing to me today. Great creativity with the storyline, Michelle!
I'm sorry I didn't respond to this sooner-- somehow I missed it. What a great way to experience gratitude. It can always elevate us above the challenges that we face. And knowing that it's just a season. The simplest of things ground me and fill me with joy-- and the smell and feeling of fresh clean laundry is one of them. 💜

Brownstones are a type of old building in NYC. Brownstone is a brown Triassic-Jurassic sandstone that was historically a popular building material-- and in the city there are these townhouses often built like row houses made of this material.
Oh no I was really in to one of the stories and I knocked it off by mistake and I had to turn the light on and now I feel cheated 🙁
