  • I've been wanting to try Fancy Fairy Angela's wing tutorial for ages and I'm so glad I was able to add them to my fairy costume! I think they turned out pretty well for a first attempt and I'm so excited to make another pair with new improvements! I also made a flower crown and I think it's so cute with all of its fall themed flowers 😊 If you end up making your own of either please tag me, I'd love to see! Next up is the actual Renaissance Festival!!

I love that you have considered the experience of wearing the wings (things like how much space and attention you will need to devote to them while wearing them) that is something I tend to forget when I plan costumes and then I am like…well, I didn’t think this through

As for next ren faire, if you do a pirate you get to have big poofy sleeves which is always a plus. Though, as my internal enabler always says when I try to decide between two separate things: "Why not both?"

Hey girl! I just made the Angela wings and I had the same experience. I used them for a fairy photoshoot and unfortunately they were flimsy and barely survived the day. I used very thick wire too :(
I was hoping with so much time and energy put into them that I could use them multiple times but sadly that wasn't the case. Thank you for your honest, kind, and detailed review!

Fantastic! You keep inspiring me to go on with my projects 😍
Edit: I have a friend with a machine shop who has a water jet. Most shops will charge by the hour with a minimum (my friend's is $100). If your drawing is able to be uploaded whole into the program the water jet uses you would probably only pay the minimum plus material. Still expensive for a one off.

There are wings with manual mechanism
that uses 2 cords to pull and control movement of wings on back to flap.
so the wearer can flap the wings.
However, the mechanical bat ( but
similar) wings that I saw were 1 of a kind
custom made, but skilled mechanics could create a new 1. Hope.that you can find such a person.
    Good luck!!!

I recently found your channel and already I think you're super underrated! Your work is creative, fun, and infused with your personality, it's obvious that you put a lot of thought into your makes :)
If I may make one suggestion? Kick up the brightness a little, your videos are kind of underexposed particularly during the talking sections. The darkest shadows of the background often read nearly black, and the shadowed side of your face can't be seen well so it's very hard to make things out even with my screen on full brightness :/

Amazing! If you are still interested in doing wings with water jet cut frames, one of my car youtubers uses a company called send cut send. They do exactly that for small scale creators. Not sure if they need you to use CAD instead of Photoshop but it's worth looking into! :)
