      Hey Alex, is it normal to sleep more than 14 hours a day during the first week on the medication? I feel extremely tired and exhausted. How much time did it takes you to get better regarding fatigue? I stopped Paxil because of tiredness, although it was a great medication. But if I sleep even more with Zoloft, what's the point...

    Hello Alex and everyone on the same journey ;)
    It's day 14 for me on Sertraline (50mg) and looking back the first week was a bit hairy with some manageable nausea, fatigue and just all round feeling tired and a bit more anxious. And Alex your videos have been a lifesaver mate, really cool to be able to look forward to watching a video each morning with breakfast after doing my journals and getting your insight for the day at hand. I was a bit disappointed when I realized there was a gap in days leading up to 2 weeks but I understand why, I just really enjoy your vids and the positive reinforcement you put onto a pretty scary thing to be doing. So much uncertainty with questions like is this going to work, and you're so right when you said that there will be a slump because you've gotten over the initial excitement and boost of starting with meds and seeking help and now it's kind of like '''well can we get a move on please, come on 4-6weeks''
    My side effects have been manageable and are practically gone now, very little nausea but i'm still pretty tired and anxious...I think this is just down to dealing with life in general at the moment. I've just watched your video ''Will Antidepressants make me happy'' so cheers for the brilliant explanation of how they work to keep us floating, good metaphor.
    Keep safe everyone and keep smiling, you can do this and things will get better ;) BTB

    I managed about 6 days on this and that was it. I cut my dosage down to 12.5 milligrams and it still makes me super tired about an hour after I took it to the point where it actually hurt to be awake. I also got confused easily. I pretty much slept pretty much all day and all night and that was it. I couldn't care for my two cats or myself. It was so bad that I fell asleep in the middle of eating breakfast and even in the middle of using the restroom. I tried to do a school assignment and failed it as I was so tired and my memory just didn't work right on it. I had to argue a bit and just plainly say I'm not taking it anymore because I can't function on it and I managed to get offered Wellbutrin but I'm super nervous about trying it since this has been so awful. Also, I had muscle cramps on it, some coconut water and Gatorade helped with those though.

    I'm 10 days in and I'm starting to notice my anxiety coming back and the fatigue getting worse, I'm having those same wake up in the middle of the night around 3-4 am episodes as well you mentioned. I'm really feeling the struggle but this is normal? Trying to keep my normal activity level seems all but impossible these past few days. 2 days in the gym and I'm barely able to get to work the next day.

    So, i was on this drug for like 3 4 weeks. First week was Ok, i was just very tired on 50 mg. Then the headaches started. I mean monsteous bed bounding cant see cant go outside cant stand any light type of headaches, so i went to 25 mg on my doctor s advice. After 1,5 weeks on 25 i was gettin worse. The headaches got so intense I threw up a few times and could only sleep with adivan+clonopin, altho i didnt have any anxiety!! I finally went down to 12,5 and still the same. Now Im off them for good but i still have headaches, guess it s the withdrawl, even if i took them for a short time?
    What s the point of not being depressed when I had such horrendeous headaches that I couldnt function as a human being?
    Glad it s working for you and others, just not for me.

    Hello Alex. Are you still using Zoloft? I'm just starting it but I can't get past the side effects. I've been on it for about 10 to 12 days, which is admittedly a very short time, but I'm experiencing headaches and head tension that is very debilitating. Am I just supposed to suffer through these things in hopes that I'll emerge on the other side of the suffering? I haven't watched this video yet, I'm going to watch it now, as well as your other ones. But these side effects include dizziness and head and chest pressure and I'm afraid it is interfering with other aspects of just living.
    I forgot to mention this sooner, but I had surgery for lung cancer this past August, and I feel no better that I did six months ago. It was a lower-right lobectomy. My doctor prescribed Zoloft, but as I stated earlier, nothing seems to be helping...specifically the Zoloft. I feel hemmed in from both sides.

      @AlexRobbMentalHealth  Před 3 lety +3

      Yeah totally. There is an element of placebo but you get a boost from knowing that you are on the road to recovery. I found the toughest bit was once the side effects had stopped but the meds hadn't kicked in (weeks 3-6) because the initial happiness had faded. I got through it by reminding myself that whilst I wasn't better yet I was further along the journey than I was yesterday, and the day before etc. Really kept me going until I started to feel a chemical change.
      When you change dose you might feel some of those early side effects trigger again for a day or two so don't be worried if this happens.

    Hello everyone. Was wondering if anyone has been on Xanax for panic attacks? I've been on Xanax for 6+ years. I take .25 mg every morning and it seemed to be enough to manage my panic attacks until a few months ago. My doctor said they eventually want me to get off of Xanax. (kind of worried about that) So I started taking sertraline. I'm currently on day 9 of sertraline. I take 50mg at bedtime. I've had ups and downs. Side effects include, mild headaches, upset stomach for 2 days, anxiety levels increased and panic attacks increased, and little to no appetite, dry mouth and very very tired. Have been really sleeping a lot this past week. When my anxiety or panic attacks peak I still take a .25 mg Xanax. It usually helps me but also makes me really tired. I feel a bit dehydrated and weak. I was so scared to take sertraline until I watched your videos @Alex Robb. It's really helped me with my worries and fears. Thank you Alex!
